Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

This SUV is terrific! I love driving it. It rides so quietly and feels so sturdy. I am looking forward to driving it for years to come!

Originally hated the new styling, hoped for more rounder then boxy. Now that I own one, I like the shape, it grew on me. We are very happy with this vehicle. Coming from an 04 Pilot there are many changes, more space, bigger feel, smoother drive, better interior. Plastic dash doesnt bother me, controls are easy to learn. I do find myself sitting forward when driving, its not the headrest but the support behind my back pushing me forward. Seats are very comfortable. Pick-up can be a bit sluggish when merging onto the highway. Love the radio and the way it displays station, song title and artist. Much better access to the handle for lowering the third row then in the 2004.

  • Best Family Auto to own - 2003 Honda Pilot

Going on 7,000 miles an loving it. My husband and I researched mid size suvs for 6 months seperately before purchase For safety, price, roominess, gas milage, fun to drive and towablility the Pilot out-ranked every thing else. Our other car is a Porsche so family auto had to be fun to drive too, it is. As a travel soccer family we needed room for 4+ for long distance travel - kids dont argue in the back any more. Moved up from a Mazda MPV and havent looked back! Really love this auto.

THIS IS THE BEST AUTO I HAVE EVER OWNED, IT IS FUN, AND RIGGED, AND FULL OF STYLE. THERE IS NO LET DOWNS, I WOULD ADVISE ANYONE WHO IS LOOKING FOR A SUV TO GET A PILOT. WE ALL LOVE THIS SUV. I HAVE HAD A GRAND JEEP CHEROKEE, AND A 4- RUNNER, AND A RAVE - 4, THIS HAS HANDS DOWN BEEN THE BEST IN ALL AREAS!!! THIS AUTO WAS PURCHASED AT HONDA OF FRANKFORT, THAY WERE GREAT, AND MADE THE DEAL SO EASY, VERY KIND, AND GOOD AT WHAT THEY ALL DO AT THIS DEALERSHIP! CINDY LABA

  • Solid performer. Distractive, woeful electronics - 2016 Honda Pilot

If your a looking for a large, roomy family-orientated SUV that handles well, looks good, is comfortable to travel in and gets surprisingly good mileage for its size, look no further. However, if electronics are your big thing then let me tell you they were designed by people who probably did not have to ever use them- so they let "concept" get ahead of "usefulness" and the result is an electronics package that is distractive to the driver to use, and frankly plain dangerous on the road for that reason. Simply put, you have to look at the large and gorgeous display a few extra seconds (too long) to find anything, taking your eyes off the road for an extra 2-3-4 seconds which is sure to produce some bad accidents. They stuffed everything but the kitchen sink on that display. Too much information crammed in one place. Considering that these geniuses for some ethereal reason put Apple Carplay in their other cheaper vehicles, but not the high end Pilot is beyond bad decision-making, it is just plain dumb. I love the car (ITS A GREAT VEHICLE), I say that having owned it nearly a year, and it replaced my recent model LEXUS RX which was smaller, got worse mileage, had no 3rd row seats, and cost about $12k more, with a front end that looks like it just sucked on a lemon (the Lexus, not the Honda)-- everything about this SUV is GOOD NEWS- except- this distractive and poorly designed entertainment center.

I have had zero problems with my Honda Pilot EX - I love it. I feel like Im driving a luxury vehicle. This SUV is fast. This SUV is the perfect size for a family with two kids. Many people who ride in it cant believe how smooth and quiet it is. Theres almost no wind noise when driving on the highway. The AWD system works great. Cant say enough good things about this vehicle.

So far, this is the best vehicle Ive ever owned. I love it! Its comfortable on long drives. The mileage is reasonable for the size and power. There is plenty of people room with the 3rd row--Honda says it seats 8, but 7 adults are comfortable. If a child is the eighth passenger, youd be okay. The only problem with the 3rd row seat, is that eats up 85% of the luggage space. You wouldnt want to subject anyone to the 3rd row for a road trip anyway.

Tight SUV that has an unexpected feel of luxury. I was expecting a functional wel designed car that you always get form Honda. But the added luxury was a surprise

Just took delivery of my new 2004 Pilot EX-L w/ DVD to replace a 2003 Explorer. This vehicle is great, plus I got it for a great price (less than TMV - $400 over invoice). Very pleased so far even though Ive only put about 50 miles on it.
