Overview & Reviews
The 2005 Honda Pilot receives a new 255-hp engine, along with numerous functional changes. A tire-pressure monitoring system has been added, and EX models with leather get vehicle stability control. Slightly increased fuel capacity helps extend driving range, and a revised power steering pump provides improved on-center steering feel. Inside the cabin, the instrument panel has been tweaked with ambient lighting and a six-disc CD changer for all EX trims. A driver footrest has been added, and leather-upholstered EX models can now be had with a sunroof. The LX now has standard keyless entry, and all models get an integrated remote key and fob. Honda has made slight frame changes this year that resulted in improved IIHS crash test ratings.
- Roomy interior with eight-passenger seating, versatile storage and cargo-hauling abilities, many standard features, comfortable ride, smooth power delivery.
- Mediocre towing capacity, side curtain airbags not available, feels big behind the wheel.

Very Uncomfortable Leather Seats Design - 2005 Honda Pilot
By Hal - April 23 - 4:44 pmOverall quality car except bad front leather seats and headrests that are totally uncomfortable. Bad design! Gas miles are as good as claimed.

Great Vehicle - 2005 Honda Pilot
By damatsam - March 31 - 11:23 pmBought this vehicle after my daughter bought a CR-V. The ride is very smooth, better than expected. Wind noise is a little annoying, but you get use to it. Gas mileage is not all that great. Overall, I am very satisfied with my vehicle.

What am I missing? - 2005 Honda Pilot
By threeputt - March 23 - 9:32 pmI should have posted this sooner. My wife and leased our 05 Pilot in September of 05. The dealer drove it himself and put 5k miles on it. The seats are uncomfortable. Spongy braking, hiccuppy acceleration, upper body roll, poor sound and a noisy interior. On the positive side, good turn radius, good build(lousy seat belts) quality. Based upon what Ive read from others, this vehicle is overrated. Never, and I repeat never, let your wife tell a Honda order taker that she absolutely loves it. They will never back off on price. Im on the hook for another year. Then, he lease is UP!!!!!

An outstanding vehicle! - 2005 Honda Pilot
By csg1111 - February 28 - 6:40 amI have put 1000 miles on and LOVE my new SUV... recommend it to anyone in the market for a flexible SUV - especially good because I can fit 2 car seats in the middle and still seat an adult between them (short trips only) ... couldnt do that in my mini-van!

Love this vehicle - 2005 Honda Pilot
By Jim D - February 24 - 1:50 pmI have had zero problems with my Honda Pilot EX - I love it. I feel like Im driving a luxury vehicle. This SUV is fast. This SUV is the perfect size for a family with two kids. Many people who ride in it cant believe how smooth and quiet it is. Theres almost no wind noise when driving on the highway. The AWD system works great. Cant say enough good things about this vehicle.

Just an "OK" - 2005 Honda Pilot
By Focl - February 10 - 8:40 amThis car didnt live up to my expectations. Its my first Honda and I was surprised that the cockpit has several ergonomic issues. The automatic transmission has the strangest kick down Ive ever experienced. It feels like someones putting on the brakes. Speaking of brakes, the ABS system kick in way too early when braking easy on wet roads causing the car to skid forward much further than you expect it too! Very scary in light snow or rain!!! Every time you step on the brake you get a loud thumping in the rear which is undoubtedly the gas slapping the inside of the tank (annoying).

A Great Midsize SUV - 2005 Honda Pilot
By Very Good SUV - February 7 - 8:26 amThe Pilot is an awesome midsize SUV. Although built like a car, its very sturdy, solid feeling. Very refined. Strong engine power w/smooth transmission. Gas mileage is very good if you dont gun the throttle. With 5 people (some large sizes included) and some light gear, Ive managed to get 21.4 on a 360 mile round trip doing speeds up to 80 mpg. Very good for its size indeed. Quiet on the go. Super visibility and comfort to spare. Good handling with firm but comfortable ride. You should definitely check out the Pilot if in the market for midsize SUV. Glad this one is mine.

Awesome midsize SUV - 2005 Honda Pilot
By PilotN In Richmond - January 14 - 10:59 amJust recently purchased my gentle used Pilot and been enjoying it ever since. Had a little over 16k miles and seem brand new. Very tight construction. Much better mileage than you would expect for its size. Very spacious, storage galore. Firm but comfortable ride. Quiet cabin and even still with windows open, impressive. Awesome engine and 5 speed. Silky smooth running. Typical Honda quality aplenty.

Great SUV - 2005 Honda Pilot
By boris - January 6 - 1:39 pmThis is second Pilot I have. It suits me perfectly. Plenty of space in a front (I call it my second office). I need to put seats down and up quite often - itÂ’s easy and convenient and creates plenty of flat space. Occasionally we use 3rd row - access is not great, but doable.
