Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

This is my second Honda and second pilot. I traded my 2004 for this 2007. I love the dependability and workmanship. Rides great. 3rd seat best value of any I have been in.

  • Quality and Affordability - 2004 Honda Pilot

Ive had my Pilot for 3 years and my wife and I couldnt be happier with it. It has never been serviced for anything other than scheduled maintenance. Plenty of passenger and cargo room. We drove it to Maine the first year we had it, which was a 10 hour drive. I drove almost the whole way and I have never been more comfortable in a vehicle than with the Pilot. Im very impressed with the quality of this vehicle, with ample features for around $30k brand new.

  • Best "REAL HONDA SUV" ever!!! - 2004 Honda Pilot
    By -

This is the nicest SUV on the market!! This Honda replaced my 99 Passport that was dying a fast death at 43,000 miles!! After seeing many Pilots come and go at Desert Honda, I decided that it was time to get me a Pilot!!! The first time that I brought one home to my wife, it was equipped with every, and do I mean every option that was available through Honda. From the Rear- view camera, to the back-up and side sensors, this Pilot EXL w/Navigation had it all!!! Upon showing my wife this Pilot, she was so impressed that she wanted it right then!! I ended up waiting 4 months to get mine. What a long wait that was!!!

  • Needs some changes - 2010 Honda Pilot

The 2010 Pilot is an excellent choice for large sized SUV. It provides great comfort and rideability, and has ample room for 8 people. The interior design is excellent except for usage of cheap looking plastic on the dashboard. One thing I missed from my CRV was the conversation mirror, which was great for checking on your kids, without turning your head. Performance wise, the Pilot is no slouch, but its probably the first guzzler from Honda. All over the internet people are complaining of poor mileage. I am hard pressed to get their EPA 17 mpg in city. Braking distance is another valid complaint, it takes more distance to stop when braking at 60mph and above.

  • Its Just Awesome - 2006 Honda Pilot

I am very happy with my 2006 Honda Pilot EX-L AWD. It handles great and has a very comfortable drive. Also there is so much cargo room. I bought the all season mats and rear cargo tray. It was well worth it as it protects the interior and stock floor mats.

  • Whimpy "Pretend SUV" - 2004 Honda Pilot
    By -

Honda cars are pretty good...but their SUVs are pretentious Wannabes!! I traded my 2000 Civic on this pilot and quickly found myself stuck in small snow bank. A passing by Jeep Liberty had to pull me out and tore the front end of my pilot clean off and commented how Whimpy my Honda is!! At anyrate, I traded my pilot on a liberty and the difference is like comparing a coke can to a bank vault!

  • Great vehicle. - 2003 Honda Pilot
    By -

Have had the Pilot for 3 weeks. Paid over sticker, unfortunately. Enjoy the drive the room, and the layout. Mileage so far, though -- 2 tanks of gas...is only 10-12 mpg in city traffic. Please tell me this will improve dramatically.

  • Excited by the Pilot?? NOPE! - 2006 Honda Pilot
    By -

My husband insisted on the Pilot 06. I am NOT impressed and a bit disappointed. The car gets nowhere near the reported mileage... poor at best. The controls are awkward, the seat on passenger side is uncomfortable and non electric. The seat belt alarm never stops. The nav system is impossible to use and has no return feature... very inconvenient and overpriced. I would never encourage anyone to purchase the vehicle. I think Honda missed the mark. I will get out of this car ASAP. I want to know why the gas mileage is so poor and the A/C takes too long to cool down and the wipers are difficult to trun off or change speed. Do not buy!

  • Great Vehicle - 2005 Honda Pilot

Bought this vehicle after my daughter bought a CR-V. The ride is very smooth, better than expected. Wind noise is a little annoying, but you get use to it. Gas mileage is not all that great. Overall, I am very satisfied with my vehicle.

  • Good, but not great - 2006 Honda Pilot
    By -

Ive owned this car for 15 months now. This is a very good, safe and reliable SUV. Its very solid with no rattles. However, there is more road noise that expected. The gas mileage ratings of 17/22 are a dream. Reality is more like 14/20. Ive taken this vehicle on several 300 to 800 mile trips. Ive soft pedalled the gas and kept the speed between 70 & 75. The best Ive seen is 20 MPG. I would certainly recommend the Pilot, as long as you know ahead of time the mileage is overstated.
