Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • Fine SUV for the money, good content - 2007 Honda Pilot

Came down to between this and a Highlander. We didnt go with that due to a more cramped interior with much less interior storage space vs. the Pilot. Car is well executed inside and out. Driving experience is consistent with expectations. Smooth drive train, pleasant ride. Reliability has been good to date. Mileage is a bit disappointing, but about what I expected. Averaging 18-20 mpg in mixed driving in first 7K miles, which isnt too bad considering power and weight of car.

Love the 2005 Pilot! All the colors are great. Its a great looking vehicle, not to mention great driving. Great for people with a lot of children who do not wish to drive a big suburban, etc. very good on gas!

Good so far, gas mileage is a little better than expected. Even in city driving. Maybe the cylinder management helps?

The Pilot has been everything I would expect in an SUV. Only two problems typical of this model. Rough ride on rough road surface. Rear roof air deflector collects ice and breaks when hatch is opened unless ice is cleared first.

I have had my Pilot for 18 months now. It has creaking noise from the door seals and drivers side B-pillar. Every time when I have an oil change at the dealer, the service guy lubes all the seals for me. The noise from the seals usually go away after being lubed. But it will come back once the lube dries out. The noise from the B-pillar was never fixed, even after three, four attempts. My Pilot also have broken / leaking struts that have to be replaced. I am kind of shocked with the quality. Gas consumption is so so...averaged 18- 20 mpg with mixed city and highway driving, pretty close to the advsertised number of 18-24 mpg.

  • BEST IN CLASS - 2004 Honda Pilot

WE TRADED A 2001 VOLVO CROSS COUNTRY V- 70 FOR OUR PILOT. WE HAVE FOUND THE PILOT TO BE SUPERIOR IN EVERY WAY TO THE VOLVO. THE COMFORT, HANDLING AND SUPERIOR QUALITY FEATURES TO BE ESPECIALLY NOTICEABLE OVER THE VOLVO. WE HAVE HAD MERCEDES IN THE PAST AND HAVE FOUND THE PILOT TO COMPARE IN MANY WAY TO THE QUALITY OF THOSE CARS. WE CAN PULL IT BEHIND OUR MOTORHOME TOO.

Ive owned it since January 2003. I purchased it when I found out I was pregnant with my first child. It is very comfortable in traveling with people and children. I test drove every SUV in its class and this one was the roomiest. I recommend it.

I searched for two years for a new car. After researching on the web, I was convinced Honda Pilot was the one for me. They are sharp looking and easy to handle. The dealership was great to work with. I went to three different Honda dealerships and negotiated the best price. This is the first Honda I have owned.

  • uncomfortable seats - 2004 Honda Pilot
    By -

like the car in many ways, but I find the seats hit me mid leg and cause worse leg fatigue. the center console being open catches way to many things and is sloppy. The performance of the car is reliable, one of the best I drove when I was looking.the navigational system is wrong often.and the voice is annoying.the seats dont fold down flat.seats are not heated..
