Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

Just drove the vehicle on a +800 mile trip around Washington State. Sorry I bought it. I believe that it is unsafe. It sways more than any vehicle I have driven in a decade. Uneven road surfaces produce a tail-wagging effect when loaded. Couple this with an over-sprung/under dampened rear suspension and it spells nothing but trouble. Best milage for the trip was 20-mpg.

The smoothness of the ride and quietness of the Pilot is more than we ever expected. The interior has so much room and its exactly what we wished for, for retirement. Seats are perfect for us, handling is perfect. Fuel mileage is very good for a SUV. Vision is forever...engine is quiet...all the power needed when you ask for it...the 5 star safety rating is a tremendous selling point. We love the look of the Pilot. The controls for air conditioning and heating in the rear seat area are great. My wife and her girl friend normally use the heat while her husband and I use the air conditioning up front...no more, honey would you turn the air down, its cold in here, lol... Thanks Honda!

First off, for all of you complaining about the gas mileage, youre nuts. I have a Dodge Durango and the Pilot. There is no comparison whatsoever. For the 3k miles we have put on it, we are averaging about 21 mpg. Now if you have the 4x4 version, I can see a decrease. But all you others probably just have a lead foot! There are only two negatives that I have with the Pilot. First, the front driver side leg room is not what I would like it to be. Second, the back door is a pain in the rear to close sometimes. I wish they would have made it about 1/2 a foot longer, then a tall guy like me would not have any issues up front! If you buy one, you will fall in love with it!

This is our first SUV and I couldnt be happier. We wanted a vehicle large enough for our family of four to travel comfortably on road trips, but not too big that we would spend a fortune on gas. We contemplated a mini van but wanted something more sporty without sacrificing interior room. The Pilot is perfect for us! Its fun to drive, comfortable and looks great. I highly recommend this vehicle!

This is my wifes SUV replaced an Oddy (bad trans, bad cat converter at 112K). Have nearly 40K miles in 1.5 years back/forth to a lake house we have. Also do a lot of antiquing/hauling. Looked at everything before buying, and very happy with purchase. I see the suggested improvements on the review boards, but we have had no real issues and its the best deal for the money, hands-down. Little noisy on the highway, really does better with high test gas, but overall we really like the overall quality and reliability (with my wife on the road alone a lot). BTW: we get about 22/18 mpg.

i love it. the only things that i would change is that the rear hatch window cannot be opened separately you must open the entire door and the power points do not operate a phone/dvd player unless the vehicle is on...other than that its a great vehicle.

Well designed and extremely comfortable. Fits an active family very well. Roomier than our previous mini van. Intelligent cargo area. Back seating for passengers is very comfortable. Easy to drive, excellent visibility. Entertainment system is a real pleasure for the passengers. Drives very solidly. The whole family was pleased with this purchase.

It has been truly bulky to drive especially when youre alone in the car. However i also feel the responsiveness of it. I dont feel the bounce in the rough roads and the feels very luxurious.

I have only had the vehicle for less than two months. So far I have had no problems. I traded in my old Jeep Grand Cherokee for the Pilot. In terms of ride, handling, & interior design the Pilot is superior to my old Jeep (which I really enjoyed). The Pilot seats are more comfortable than the Jeep seats, though the Jeep seats were excellent for long trips & I have to not yet had the Pilot on an extended trek to make that level of comparison. I have yet to experience snow or more than very light off-road conditions so I cant compare performance in tough going as of yet.
