This Year's Model Updates:

The 2005 Honda Pilot receives a new 255-hp engine, along with numerous functional changes. A tire-pressure monitoring system has been added, and EX models with leather get vehicle stability control. Slightly increased fuel capacity helps extend driving range, and a revised power steering pump provides improved on-center steering feel. Inside the cabin, the instrument panel has been tweaked with ambient lighting and a six-disc CD changer for all EX trims. A driver footrest has been added, and leather-upholstered EX models can now be had with a sunroof. The LX now has standard keyless entry, and all models get an integrated remote key and fob. Honda has made slight frame changes this year that resulted in improved IIHS crash test ratings.

Pros:
  • Roomy interior with eight-passenger seating, versatile storage and cargo-hauling abilities, many standard features, comfortable ride, smooth power delivery.
Cons:
  • Mediocre towing capacity, side curtain airbags not available, feels big behind the wheel.

  • great purchase - 2005 Honda Pilot

i love it. the only things that i would change is that the rear hatch window cannot be opened separately you must open the entire door and the power points do not operate a phone/dvd player unless the vehicle is on...other than that its a great vehicle.

I have only had the vehicle for less than two months. So far I have had no problems. I traded in my old Jeep Grand Cherokee for the Pilot. In terms of ride, handling, & interior design the Pilot is superior to my old Jeep (which I really enjoyed). The Pilot seats are more comfortable than the Jeep seats, though the Jeep seats were excellent for long trips & I have to not yet had the Pilot on an extended trek to make that level of comparison. I have yet to experience snow or more than very light off-road conditions so I cant compare performance in tough going as of yet.

  • 2 Pilots for me! - 2005 Honda Pilot

I have just purchases my second Pilot in two years. Last year I purchased an 04 EX with cloth seats. While I was very pleased with it overall, I was a little dissapointed to find that they offered a sunroof on the 05 models. I purchased the 05 with a sunroof and rear entertainment system. I am thrilled with it. The upgrades are well worth it. There is no other SUV with the number of options anywhere near the price. We are anxious to see the changes for the 06.

My wife and I purchased our frist new car a 2004 Honda Pilot. At 19k miles, we had to have the block replaced due to a cracked block being installed at the factory. Now, Honda America is giving us the run around on the warranty...beware!

I bought this for twins that have just arrived and i love this car! It is roomy with nice style although i liked the way the lexus rx330 looked a little better. However, the pilot blew it away with the extra room and all the great options(dvd system, running boards, etc.) For the same price. Highly recommend!!

  • Best of all worlds but the wind noise! - 2005 Honda Pilot

Having had nothing but constant mechanical troubles with a 2000 Suburban but being spoiled by all the cargo capacity, we werent sure what we would buy. We were surprised by how much we could manipulate the storage with the 60/40 split folds. First road trip was comfortable and we love the car. Did get the sunroof and we are experiencing terrible wind noise though. Not sure what thats about but its not deterring from the great drive and handling of this car. Since its a Honda I have no worries about dependability. No more GM for us.

Although I recently purchased the Honda Pilot, I am very pleased. I looked at many other mid size and small suvs and found that this one had all that I needed. I am really impressed with the auto 4 wheel drive aspect. Since I have to climb muddy hills and deal with snow and ice, I find that it handles very well. I also haul many things and it is very spacious in this respect. The simple fact that it has room in the back, for luggage or our dogs, and still has room to travel with at least five adults comfortably is extemely useful and important to me. I also enjoy how it looks which is an added bonus!

I love driving this Pilot. Weve have taken it on several road trips and have found it extremely comfortable with plenty of room for luggage. Also, the 3rd row seat has come in handy many times. You can split the second and third row seats which is offers different options for passengers and baggage. The turning radius is better than my volvos.

  • Grandpa Loves His Pilot! - 2005 Honda Pilot

I thought I was past my minivan stage, but when safety for hauling the grandkids became a factor, here I am again. My Pilot is awesome! It is comfortable, quiet, easy to park, fun to drive and I know my precious grandkids are safe in it. Im getting 16-19 MPG city and 18-21 on the highway. My 18 month old grandson loves the rear entertainment system. I have back problems, and the heated 8 way adjustable seat is greatly appreciated. It is too early to tell about reliability, but Hondas reputation is solid. With seating for 8, great storage, solid grip on the road (Ive driven in some bad weather) and SUV versatility, I dont know that I will ever go back to a sedan.

  • Exterior Body Not tough - 2005 Honda Pilot
    By -

The vehicle stability, brakes, and pickup are excellent. Many swift lane changes and sharp turns are handled gracefully. But the outside body is NOT good. If you drive on country side roads then lots of chipping problems occur. Also inside the rear AC air direction controller came broken in my new Pilot. So build is so-so , I mean from other aspects too.
