Overview & Reviews
Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.
Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

Just one little annoying thing... - 2010 Honda Pilot
By krjacj - August 22 - 10:43 pmThis is our first Honda, and so far, it has been a great vehicle for our family of 4. Gas mileage averages 19-20mpg. I immediately liked the exterior boxy styling and more rugged appearance than the old Pilots. Drives well and feels very solid on the road. The only issue weve had is the slope of the rear cargo area when the 3rd row seats are folded down. Some things roll out easily due to the slanted surface. The optional cargo net became a necessity after a gallon of milk rolled out and crashed onto the driveway.

My Pilot - 2005 Honda Pilot
By F. Flores - August 22 - 4:36 pmI drive 25000 miles per year. I also trade every 2 years. This is my 2nd Pilot, and I am already planning for my 3rd. I feel safe and really enjoy my vehicle. We are a Honda family. My wife and daughter have Accords, and we would not drive anything else.

Love my Pilot! - 2007 Honda Pilot
By Gwen - August 22 - 12:45 pmI have owned an Expedition, a Suburban and an Explorer Sport and this one is by far the best! It feels solid, low road noise, lots of leg room front and back. Acceleration is surprising for an SUV. Gas mileage is okay. I love it! Good job Honda.

Amazing value for $28K - 2007 Honda Pilot
By Nimbus gray_Pilot - August 19 - 9:59 pmAfter much research and comparison shopping, we decided on the EX-L w/AWD, and feel like we hit the jackpot-especially in the value category. I am more fond of this vehicle each week. It now has 5K miles, and has really proven itself to be the ultimate in practical suburban family vehicle. We also looked at the 07 Highlander, and nearly fell asleep at the wheel in the showroom. Also considered a certified X3, but cargo area way too small. The Pilot is no Ferrari, but it is predictable, comfortable and sure footed. We have taken it on several comfortable weekend road trips. When my died-in-the-wool car snob father drove it (drives a Lexus GX & BMW Z3) said "wow, this is impressive!

900 miles with my Pilot - 2016 Honda Pilot
By Tom Shellenberger - August 19 - 9:00 pmThe Pilot is what it is. No pretension, a good solid care. Not a fun driving experience, but that is not what most are buying it for. It is reliable and safe to operate. Exterior is fine, interior materials and finish are fine in this trim level. Not flashy but not a lot bling to get broken or damaged either. The phone and info display systems seem a bit less intuitive than I would have liked, but I am 56 and not computers and phones are work for me, not the center of my personal life. Younger people may like it fine. I looked at the a lot of three-row SUV and bought the Honda. Had to look around for a decent deal because stocks are low, at least in Delaware. The only vehicle I liked as much was a Ford Explore but with similar equipment that would have cost much more.

2010 Pilot Touring - 2010 Honda Pilot
By Paul Skjeveland - August 18 - 9:00 pmNew Pilot feels much larger than the previous model. The windshield is narrower and the hood sits much higher. The truck feels very solid and rides more quietly than our 2004 did. The center console can be a little confusing to operate until you have studied it a little while. The voice operation of items takes a little practice, but is great to use.

Very safe suv!!! - 2005 Honda Pilot
By THelliwell - August 15 - 10:03 pmOur Honda Pilot saved my wifes life, she recently had a VERY serious freeway crash (hit center devider wall head-on at 65 mph.) and walked away with only a sprained wrist!!! The airbags worked perfectly and the front end crush zone took most of the impact. Our Pilot was a total loss and we will be getting a 2005 soon. We love this SUV!!!

Great SUV with Bad MPG - 2007 Honda Pilot
By Joe - August 15 - 8:33 pmThis truck was a great value. There was a $2000 rebate when I bought and no other truck could compete with for features at the price. Ive had the truck for a few months (2200 miles). The truck drives great and the interior is beautiful (big and comfortable). The exterior is boxy, but not bad. The only negative is the MPG. I read the reviews and knew it wasnt going to be great (I was expecting 15-17 mpg). I dont drive in the city and I only get 14 MPG.

It was totalled - 2005 Honda Pilot
By Louis - August 15 - 10:36 amThe Pilot EX was a total joy to drive until the tire pressure sensor simply has its own mind after 1 yr. But its not the worst. Handling-wise it is OK. In snowy, icy and heavy rain condition, however, I only get 70% control of the car when driving 35 miles per hour. I consistently got overtaken by other cars as I drove on interstate. Different tires, same result. The worst: The vehicle simply lost control when I was avoiding an aggressive pass-on-the-right Subaru. My Pilot skated around on the (dry) interstate a few seconds at 60mph until it rolled over into the embankment and totalled. None of the airbags went off for no explanation. I was lucky to survive it.

Brilliantly Designed & Built - 2003 Honda Pilot
By Sardar - August 14 - 10:00 amThe Pilot borrows from both the Odyssey & MDX and adds a touch of its own. There is plenty of room for 8, & the detailed finishing and features for the interior are truely well thought out. It has a quiet interior and the view from around the cabin is excellent. Its going to be an excellent road cruiser and versatility of the seat configurations allows even tall passengers to be comfortable on long journey - you can always fold the one or both of the middle row seats for the extra leg room...there is even reclining middle row seats! The power is more than adequate and the fuel economy is excellent for the size. The best thing is that 85/86 octane can be used!
