Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • Fantastic Car - 2007 Honda Pilot

This is my best car I have bought. I have had many cars and this is by far the most comfortable and quality SUV I have had. I also own the Odyssey and it is fantastic too. I love Honda. This is a car is extremely fun and reliable to drive. The gas mileage isnt that bad. Anyway if you are looking to buy a SUV the Pilot is the way to go!

I picked up my pilot a week ago, love driving it. It drives like a car, not a truck.

  • Mediocre at best - 2016 Honda Pilot

It does everything, but not great. To start, the third row is completely unsuitable for three people, even if they are younger kids. Two at best. Interior material is cheap - to the touch as well as sight. It will scratch VERY easily. The Garmin GPS system absolutely sucks! Most of the time, for the first two-three minutes, it has no clue where the car is. This happens to be the most critical period of driving if you are away from home and dont know your surroundings. Audio controls are the most confusing I have ever seen in a Honda! The engine seems to be confused on which gear to pick, and the amount of thrust to apply. Very hesitant. In the first two three months, it worked fine, but then started having a lag - very noticeable - in acceleration. Overall, very disappointed with our decision to buy the new Pilot. Ended up trading it in for a different vehicle after 8 months of ownership.

  • Great SUV for family with 2-4 kids - 2006 Honda Pilot

First I was not sure if it was enough space for us but it is plenty. Have 3 kids and me the driver is 6 feet 2. Plenty of leg room. We love this truck. Suprisingly great handling for its size. Handles like a sedan. Plenty of goodies including XM radio. The sound system is a little bit boxy. If sound that you are looking for this is not the SUV for you. Very comfortable, love the side curtain air bags and the stability control. Very well thought design interior and exterior. Friends and neigbors love my truck. 4 has been bought around my way since I got ours. Nice heated leather seats with heated mirrors. Overall this is a solid SUV that also has a great engine.

  • Honda Pilot, another winner - 2006 Honda Pilot

I am very impressed with the fuel economy of this vehicle. I drive to work and back 50 miles per day and get an average of between 18.5 and 20 miles per gallon (combination city/highway). It is also very comfortable and has loads of space inside. I love it

  • I know the Pilot - 2007 Honda Pilot

Before this one we have a leased Pilot EX-L 2004. The Honda reputation, the 8 seats, the design, and the solidness, have convinced that there is no other car in the market for me. Just bought a new 2007 Pilot EX-L with Navigation and paid a very competitive price, thanks to Honda aggresive incentive to end the 2007 stock. I know there is a new designed Pilot coming out, but the true is that I like the current square shape. I little wood inside will be a plus. The fuel economy isnt good, but the vehicle is strong and is still a car-body-frame easy and fun to drive. The new pilot brings sunroof, foglights, oil life measure, and a ccouple other extra features. Im very satisfied after 3 years.

  • Great SUV!!! - 2006 Honda Pilot

Upgraded from a Land Rover Freelander. Huge improvement! Lots of room and good amount of power. Dont believe the stated MPG. Expect 14-15 around town w/ air conditioning. You can get 19-21 on the highway. Not bad but I wish theyd be more accurate in their stated MPG estimates.

  • Great SUV . . . I think - 2003 Honda Pilot

Its a good looking SUV. Not fancy in anyway, some may even say bland - but the look will grow on you. The ride is dependable and smooth. Fuel economy is not that great but then again this is much bigger than my old Maxima so its only logical. Its not quick or nimble on its feet but handling is smooth. Car is extremely inviting. Even with 7 passengers in the car, it handles well, is roomy and the rear passengers enjoy the same heat and air conditioning as the front area passengers. Cars cargo area has six hooks, which when used with bungee cords, holds down most transported items nicely. The raising and lowering of the rear row of seats is effortless. Plenty of glass make this car a safe car for viewing the sides and rear oncoming traffic. As good as the MDX at thousands less.

  • Transmission issue at 13k Miles for Elite Pilot!! - 2016 Honda Pilot
    By -

Just have ~ 13k miles and am having same transmission issues on 9 speed as everyone else. last week dropped the car at the dealer and today morning got the news that transmission and other oils have mixed (no reason given) they are going to change the entire transmission. This is really Hondas failure as its high end car with major transmission issue for which we have all paid ~ 50 grand. Even if they change the entire transmission, the car has lost its value who is going to pay for that?I have lost confidence of owing a Honda (have been driving accord and now pilot for last 11 years!!) Honda should recall this [non-permissible content removed]and pay us back- can be all do something about it? This is causing stress...
