Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

The Pilot is very stable if a little boaty at high speeds but it keeps good balance. Very roomy and the interior is well laid out. Went from an FX35 to a Pilot and I dont regret it one bit!

  • Nice Truck, Very Good Value - 2008 Honda Pilot

Bought to replace an aging Isuzu Rodeo were very happy with our Pilot. The Pilot is comfortable, a pleasure to drive, and of course Honda reliability. Acceleration is very good and noise levels are reasonable. The 2nd and 3rd row seats are easy to use and, folded down, they provide a large cargo area. Leather trim is nicely done and the two-tone effect of the Saddle color is attractive.

Ive been looking at SUVs since 1995, but until now none seemed worth the price. The 2003 Honda Pilot changed that for me. It has a great, comfortable ride, and plenty of power for cruising and passing. I know that it is not an "off-road" vehicle, but that is not what I wanted it for. My only complaint is that the demand for the vehicle precluded any real negotiation. I felt fortunate to get it for sticker price. Still, compared to others in the class, I think it was a bargain.

I was a little worried about fuel economy, but not any more. City driving is about 17 mpg. On a trip to FL., we averaged 25 mpg. One time was 27 mpg. between fill ups. There is plenty of room. Seats are comfortable. There is more horsepower than Ill need.

  • Buries the competition - 2004 Honda Pilot

This is my first "SUV". It is a little different than my normal zipping through traffic in a car but overall I am very happy with it. There are alot of reviews that nit pick everything but when you compare this to the most common competitors (Explorer, Envoy, Trailblazer) it beats them hands down. Resale value, reliability, fuel economy, safety, and owner satisfaction are whats important. Not how "flashy the stupid dashboard looks".

We recently bought a Pilot as we purchased a new home on a private road and needed AWD. We searched every model possible and found the Pilot as the best SUV for the money. This vehicle has exceeded our expectations. It is comfortable, flexible, entertaining and fun to drive. Being a former Maxima driver I know about the fun to drive factor. Our only disappointment is the low fuel mileage (sub 20mpg) and the inability to open the hatch window like the Hyundai Santa Fe and the ommission of standard fog lights. Overall this Pilot flies high in our minds.

  • Almost there - 2007 Honda Pilot

My 2007 Honda Pilot is almost perfect. All it needs is a split window in the back and ideally a power lift gate. Of course gas mileage could be better. Other than those three things I find it PERFECT. I went from a Tahoe to a Lexus to a Honda. I dont know what took me so long.

  • Not all hype! - 2007 Honda Pilot

Nice vehicle that is built on a Civic chassis. Yet, it lacks the power and guts that the dealer states it has...which is a total letdown. The back seats are very poor..it is almost more comfortable sitting plastic seats in the bleachers! The back seating is not made for long distance trips, just trips that are less than a mile long to the local store...think twice about these seats if you care about your guests! Where is the power in this vehicle...it struggles to pull what it is designed to pull. The gas mileage is not was it is stated on this site...it is less more like 13 and 17. Be advised twice before you purchase! BTW, there is no AWD in this vehicle..just a myth!
