Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • Very Critical - 2007 Honda Pilot

I have had my Pilot for just over a year and have enjoyed it minus a few exceptions. A clip of some type either came off or was not put on (somewhere connected to the transmission) in the first place leaving me unable to move in the middle of traffic. NOT GOOD. I called the dealer from the road and they towed me in, fixed the the ride in about 3 or 4 days. This left me with one vehicle. I wasnt given a good enough explanation of what happened but no problem with that to date. The subwoofer is either popping or rattling the areas next to it. My dealer so far has not been able to fix the problem to my satisfaction. Finally there is a slight pull to the left I will see if the dealer can adjust.

Weve had our Honda Pilot for one month and love it! The stereo sounds great from the front seat, but needs the base turned up to sound as good in the back seat. Its very comfortable during long rides, and fun to drive.

Hoping this was a good cross for road trips AND towing, it good only on road trips. Quiet, comfortable and great ergonomics inside. Typically SUV, bulky to drive/handle. Terrific reliability. In short a great people and stuff hauler It is not a good towing vehicle. I have a 2700# tent trailer (when fully loaded) and the rear end drops considerably and with the severe cut off on the headlights, night driving is hazardous due to oncoming traffic high beam warning flashing. It doesnt have anywhere near a low gear going down grades and is clearly not an off road vehicle. Summary: terrific land cruiser, not good tower, especially at night and on any sigificant decline.

We searched for an suv that was large enough to be comfortable yet economical to operate and affordable. We found it in the Pilot. We test drove several before the Pilot and was not impressed enough to lay down the money. This impressed the both of us. It had what we needed and wanted with a couple of extras that are nice. We like the room, the engine performance, third row seating for the grandkids, cargo area is great and the dependabilty factor played a large part of our decision.

Easy to drive, fun to go on trips in. kids love all the room and the entertainment center ( head phones, dvd/cd). It has so much room inside no one feels cramped. Plenty of storage. Went from a CR-V ( which I loved ), to a Pilot.

What I like in this SUV is the riding comfort. It is smooth not tight and the heated leather seat is excellent. This vehicle has a large cargo capacity. I like that the gear shift is attached in the steering column instead of the center console.

I love my Pilot. Compared to other SUVs I drove and have tested, the Pilot feels like you are driving a car! It is especially roomy and my husband fits comfortably as a passenger in the front and back at 6 5!! The 3rd row comes in handy too and everyone who gets it always comments on how spacious the interior is.

  • Loved it so much Bought a 2004 also ! - 2004 Honda Pilot

My wife drove mine and was so utterly impressed with styling, comfort, ergonomics and options, that she bought a new one in 2004. Have a Porsche Cabriolet 2003 and a MBZ 55 AMG 2004...but we love our Pilots just as much! Crazy but true. Great all around vehicle for moving things from family to bulky items (plenty of storage room) in style and great driving comfort. Easy over the bumps and much roomier than Toyota or the American SUVs.

  • Great SUV for under $30,000 - 2007 Honda Pilot

I purchased this vehicle for my wife who stays home with our 1 year old son at the time. So I wanted safety number one and the ability to haul everything you must take when traveling with a toddler. The Pilot does a great job in all respects. It made the 8 hour drive to North Dakota much tolerable with its large cabin space and also large cargo area with the 3rd row seat folder down. It rides high so you would not want to make any sudden moves on the highway as it does seem a bit tippy, but on the other hand you need the clearance in Wisconsin if you are ever to make it up north. I give the Pilot props for comfort and cargo room and negative for fuel economy tippy feeling.

We have been driving this vehicle for about 6 months and have been very satisfied. My wife is the primary driver, and loves how it drives and carries our 2 children (2 and 4 years old). We previously owned a 2000 Odyssey, which may have had more interior space, but we prefer the SUV layout the Pilot provides. The fold down seats in the rear provide adequate flexibility when choosing to haul people or cargo. The fuel economy is close to, if not better than the van, however we have the variable cylinder engine. Overall this is a great alternative to the Mini-Van!
