Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

  • Great car but no 3rd row air - 2008 Honda Pilot
    By -

I looked at GMC Arcadia, Dodge Journey, Hyundai Veracruz, Toyota Highlander and bought Honda Pilot SE. 3rd row seating, awd, and dvd were the main features I was looking for. I went on an hour long trip today with the kids in the 3rd row. They were complaining it was too hot. To my surprise, no 3rd row air vent? Disappointed but I guess well eventually figure out the right temperature for everyone in the car.

  • Could be improved - 2017 Honda Pilot

Touch screen not easy to use when driving. Acceleration not good enough when ECO on. If turn off ECO MPG lower to 10 or less. Backup camera vision is poor. No option of blind spot radar in all trims. Right turning camera is useless.

  • My second Pilot in less than a month - 2005 Honda Pilot

I bought a Pilot for my wife April 19, 2005. So comfortable! But did not want to buy another SUV for myself, so bought Acura TL. Missed the seating height, the plush ride comfort and the soft seats of my wifes Pilot. Gas mileage was better than the TL. Guess what! Ended up trading the TL for another Pilot. Lost quite a bit of money but am extremely happy to have my second Pilot.

Purchased on Good Friday at a substantial discount (26% to be exact). It is powerful, roomy, has an excellent feature set, and big! The 2006 makeover gave it a rugged look all its own (instead of a larger 1st Gen CR-V). Gas mileage could be better, although, considering it is a 4WD, 17-18 combined city/highway isnt bad. Have slowed down considerably since moving from a Grand Prix to the Pilot, which helps with gas mileage. Im a pretty big guy and this vehicle fits me very well . . . plenty of headroom, shoulder room, and hip room.

Please dont buy pilot it has lotta issues, this is the 3rd time i had to take my car to dealership with issues, spend your money on something worth not on a pile of junk!!! i am a long term owner of Honda cars but this pilot pissed me off and i am not buying Hondas any more!!!! for future owners... please dont buy Honda Pilot 2016, read comments on edmunds, there are lot of owners with the same kinda issue and they had to replace transmissions. • good vehicle - 2007 Honda Pilot

We have owned our Pilot for 8 months and have been very happy with it. We were looking for a smaller SUV that could still seat 8 people if needed. The back seats are cramped when you have 8 people or children in the car but are adequate for short trips. The acceleration is good and it has a tighter turning radius than our last vehicle (Chevy Impala) which makes it nice for parking. The fuel mileage isnt all I had hoped that it would be - about 16-18 mpg city and about 22 highway. Doesnt have automatic headlights which took some time getting used to.

  • Great SUV !! - 2005 Honda Pilot

This has been the best SUV experience. Only maintenance has been oil changes and service agreement maintenance. Runs like a top. Exterior and interior looks are average but engine and roominess make up for it. Cant beat the Honda workmanship!!

  • Good all-around SUV - 2006 Honda Pilot
    By -

A solid, reasonably comfortable, responsive SUV. Does what it is supposed to due and reasonably economical. 17-21 mpg. Changed out the factory tires (Goodyear Integrity) to Bridgestone REVOs and it made all the difference in the world in the snow and wet conditions. The Integritys were down right dangerous in the sleet and snow. Only problem is that now the Tire Pressure Monitoring System does not work. Dealer scratches head over this but will continue to try to solve problem. The heated seats take forever to warm up also. Lots of room and a comfortable and predictable vehicle in all weather conditons (with replacement tires). Column shifter is stiff.

The fuel economy is a farce plain and simple. We have had the car for 1500 miles and have not averaged over 14.5 mpg. Not to mention that you can’t drive this vehicle over 75 as the body roll is unsafe. Other items to be aware of, the cargo area slope is a really bad idea. The remote locking system must be unlocked again to open hatch and cant click to lock if any door is still open. The lack of adjustment in the passenger’s seat as well as heat only on the seat not the back of the passenger seat. Not the easiest to get into the 3rd row. The noise at highway speed. Park sensors that aren’t on the front of the front bumper so you could pull into something straight on without warning.
