Model Overview:

Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.

Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

My wife and our two kids stepped up from a 4cyl 07 accord to the 08 Pilot expecting more kids soon. So the space was perfect. We got out of our lease with 1 1/2 years left on the lease and still got a really great price! The Honda Staff was very accommodating as with our first lease. The truck has great handling for a seasoned driver. And the power is there when I need it. Living in Brooklyn with a family means I need great gas mileage, the ability to modify the seating arrangements with room to spare for a quick trip for groceries, and a great sound system! I love my truck and could not imagine driving any other!

its okay. there are some knocking/thumping sounds while driving. per the dealer, this is a result of the design of the gas tank. also, the car sometimes moves forward (lunges) without putting my foot on the accelerator, and it sometimes holds back (drags) without putting my foot on the brake. the gas mileage is pretty good for city (start and stop) driving. the standard radio/cd speaker system is not very strong, and sound is not good with the windows down.

Drove around 2000 miles, so far so good. Initial gear shifting is little jerky. Touch screen is slow to respond. Quite interior. Steering is little soft, could little tighter.

Just hit 500 miles from brand new ground 0. Everything works great and will work for another 100 K or more miles. Honda means reliability and minimum breakdowns. I know because I owned couple Hondas before and currently own Acura which is also Honda. Big, comfortable, strong SUV. I didnt asked for anything more.

  • Love it! - 2008 Honda Pilot

I traded in a 2006 Accord SE for a 2008 Pilot VP. I got a great deal because SUVs are no longer in high demand and the new body style was due out the following week. I only use about 2-3 gallons more per week than I was using in the Accord, so a few extra bucks in gas is well worth the extra room for my kids (car seats, stroller, sports gear, etc). It was actually cheaper than my Accord and my insurance has decreased. Go figure.

Solid SUV. Average performance for HP and torque. Average gas mileage - could be better about 13 mpg in city driving. Solid build and ride, good comfort, excellent value due to the big discounts on 2008 Pilots. Value is what sold me. Looked at Murano, Acura RDX, RAV4 w/V6, and Honda CR-V. So far so good...

  • One of the "Best" Autos Ive owned. - 2006 Honda Pilot

The only Problem Ive had is the back of the front seat keeps falling off. (Six times in 27 months the car has been back to the dealer to replace/repair this issue.) I hope this will be resolved soon as the 3 yr./36,000 mi. warranty is up.

  • Honda Pilot the new SUV - 2003 Honda Pilot

If youre looking for a vehicle that is versitale, reliable and very practicle than the Honda Pilot is what you are looking for. I recently owned a Chevrolet Tahoe and had a bad experience with that vehicle. I then purchased the Pilot. It is ultimatley comparably if not better in so many ways. The cargo is roomier than that of a Tahoe or an Expedition. And the gas mileage is better than the other suvs. It sure makes a difference if your used to filling up at the pumps and spending 40 dollars than to spend 25 to fill up!
