Overview & Reviews
The 2005 Honda Pilot receives a new 255-hp engine, along with numerous functional changes. A tire-pressure monitoring system has been added, and EX models with leather get vehicle stability control. Slightly increased fuel capacity helps extend driving range, and a revised power steering pump provides improved on-center steering feel. Inside the cabin, the instrument panel has been tweaked with ambient lighting and a six-disc CD changer for all EX trims. A driver footrest has been added, and leather-upholstered EX models can now be had with a sunroof. The LX now has standard keyless entry, and all models get an integrated remote key and fob. Honda has made slight frame changes this year that resulted in improved IIHS crash test ratings.
- Roomy interior with eight-passenger seating, versatile storage and cargo-hauling abilities, many standard features, comfortable ride, smooth power delivery.
- Mediocre towing capacity, side curtain airbags not available, feels big behind the wheel.

Awesome Baby - 2005 Honda Pilot
By Glenn - February 25 - 3:23 pmI had a 1982 Accord Hatchback and then I have owned Mazdas for about the last 15 years, (626s x 2), and just traded in my MPV for Pilot EX w/ leather/Nav. ( Paid a little over invoice ) What an unbelievable difference! In the words of Dick Vitale - its "Awesome Baby". Why did I ever switch to Mazdas? The Pilots overall quality, handling, and style is superb. With 3 kids, 11, 8, and a 2 year old in a car seat, there is still plenty of room for everyone. Ill probably miss the sliding doors of a minivan for mere convienence, but such is life. Now my wife wants to trade in her Jeep Grand Cherokee for a Pilot. I got mine first. Nana nana na na :)

2005 Pilot LX AWD - 2005 Honda Pilot
By rjg - February 17 - 11:26 amVery disappointed in this vehicle! Extremely loud road noise - hard to hear on cell phones. Poorly designed climate and radio controls. No automatic headlights, etc. What was I thinking?

Pilot - great car - 2005 Honda Pilot
By Jen Powers - February 6 - 6:33 pmIt handles well, is fun to drive and is very comfortable. I wish the Nav came with voice activation, and the standard tires arent the best, but otherwise its a fabulous vehicle and I like it more as time goes by. Really glad I researched SUVs and bought a Pilot.

A Good Mid Size SUV - 2005 Honda Pilot
By DRoe - January 27 - 8:56 pmFirst Honda and switched from Amer. cars due to all the repair problems we experienced with them. We have really enjoyed the car. Very reliable. Good ride (suspension) considering it is a SUV. A few weird electrical quirks, but nothing to repair yet! I have had much worse. Uncomfortable to reach radio controls from seat, not ergonomically friendly. Most interior features very basic considering price range. Gas mileage decent and has great acceleration. Some occasional shifting confusion from trans can make for rough shifting. I had checked and told no prob, just the way it is. At this point, I would consider another and definetly like Honda.

Love My Pilot - 2005 Honda Pilot
By Catt327 - January 17 - 6:06 amI drove a Honda CRV for 4 years and while I really enjoyed it I love love love my Pilot. With two teenagers and a big dog we have plenty of room for everyone. The kids really enjoy the rear entertainment system and as a mom I really enjoy the wireless headphones. The luxury of my leather seats make me feel like I am sitting on a cloud. Living in the Northeast this vehicle proved itself to handle wonderfully in the rough winter weather. It drives smooth and silently every time. So did I mention that I love my Pilot.

A+ for the Honda Pilot - 2005 Honda Pilot
By Daisy - January 11 - 1:40 pmThe Pilot is a great SUV - fun to drive, pretty good gas mileage for a car this size, and features that are very easy to use. Also very comfortable to drive. You also make friends instantly - other people driving Pilots tend to wave at you.

Love being a Pilot! - 2005 Honda Pilot
By Piloteer - January 5 - 12:00 amI have owned my 2005 Pilot since April. I bought it from a dealer and it had 2000 miles put on it by the dealer manager. I love this darn car so much I cant stay out of it. I have put 12,000 miles on it in 4 months! It has such great handling. Turning on a dime even though it is the size of a half-dollar. It has amazing power and is easy easy to drive. Love it!

I like my Pilot - 2005 Honda Pilot
By Honda Guy - December 27 - 6:50 pmWe bought our Pilot used with about five thousand miles on it. Weve had it two years and absolutely no problems. We live in SC. We drove it to Oregon and back this July (100 degrees plus out west). We drove back in three days with sightseeing in Utah. It handled and drove like a dream. There were three of us and our stuff. The engine has great power and does 80 with ease. Gas mileage was as advertised. Stability control saved me from an accident on a five-lane through Charlotte, NC when the guy in the lane to my left started to pull into my lane before he looked, and I instinctively yanked the steering wheel to the right to get away. I would have lost control of a lesser vehicle.
