Leather-equipped EX models get heated seats and side mirrors as standard equipment. Honda has improved the navigation system this year with a larger database, and all models have improved walk-in accessibility to the third-row seat. All Hondas have a seatbelt reminder system added for 2004.

Pros:
  • Roomy interior with eight-passenger seating, versatile storage and cargo-hauling abilities, many standard features, comfortable ride.
Cons:
  • Mediocre towing capacity, feels big behind the wheel.

  • Great Family SUV - 2004 Honda Pilot

Ive had my eye on these since it was introduced in 03. It was an easy decision to replace our domestic minivan with the 04 Pilot. It has easier 3rd row seat access than the Explorer and gets better gas mileage. The ride is very good, Interior is roomy and comfy, and the DVD System is wonderful. All in all its a great vehicle from a very reliable manufacturer.

This SUV is awesome. The interior is great and the highway noise is minimal. Vehicle has been involved in a 4 car accident and held up superbly! Minimal damage after being hit in the front, side and rear-up. Would highly recommend!

  • Four years and going strong! - 2004 Honda Pilot

I purchased this 2004 Pilot EXL-RES new in October 2004. It now has 70K miles and still runs and looks great. I never keep a vehicle for more than 2 years, but this one is a keeper! I have had no problems with it and it runs as good today as it did when I bought it. I keep it well maintained and clean, and in return it just runs and runs. I am probably going to trade my other car, a Suburban, in for the 2009 Pilot. I would highly recommend this vehicle - I have owned many, many Hondas and this one has been the best.

I had a Ford Explorer Limited before I got he Pilot. I love Honda anyway and I just love the Pilot! It drives like a sports car! I actually got four friends, who were looking at other SUVs to but the Pilot and they all LOVE it!

  • My first three months - 2004 Honda Pilot

Owned for 3 months, 7600 miles. It replaced a Ford F150 ex.cab 4X4 & a Focus. I drive a lot and use it as a truck for trade shows. It fills all my needs and I enjoy the performance. I thought I would miss the roominess of the F150. This vehicle has plenty of room and feels much more nimble than the F150. A very pleasant replacement for my daily comute (Focus) too. I added factory keyless entry. I have a couple of minor lingering issues. As received, the right front sill plate(threshold) was loose. It was "repaired" and is now loose again. Dealer installed accent pin striping has chipped twice. I also have a very slight hesitation.

  • The Best all purpose SUV - 2004 Honda Pilot

I just bought my 2004 Honda Pilot. I had a 2002 Ford Explorer 4x4 Limited (I hated it). The Ford was junk. The Honda Pilot is typical Honda. Well built, well engineered and I am confident that I wont be in the dealer every other week, as I was with the Ford. If you want a really good SUV, buy this vehicle. Most dealers get full MSRP. Dont worry, it is worth it and still less then equally equipped Ford, GMC, Toyota, etc. LOVE IT FOREVER.

  • Solid with Pickup - 2004 Honda Pilot

Great vehicle for people that have past the minivan phase in life who have teenage children. Back row seats are a bit tight for people six feet tall. Has great accelaration for size and weight. Front seats are a bit too stiff to get comfortable and front head rests dont even adjust. Rear climate control isnt exactly independent. Side step ups are too close to the ground to actually be usefull. Most of this stuff is nit picking. Excellent car overall.

  • Like my Pilot very much - 2004 Honda Pilot

After a lot of research on similar SUVs (Rav, CRV, Cherokee, Pathfinder, Xterra) I drove the Pilot and immediately saw the difference. Quality interior and nice materials. Good takeoff and passing power, the ride is quiet and when youre not "on it" the 5-speed tranny will keep you cruising at around 2k RPM which helps gas mileage. When driven conservatively i average 20mpg on back road driving. ABS brakes work well, though dont always read imput well and will pull too hard sometimes. AWD feels seamless and it handles snow perfectly. Minimal quality issues, like the plastic housing inside my taillight broke and you cant take it apart to fix where it "pops" back together. Great car overall though.
