Overview & Reviews
Since its launch for the 2003 model year, the Honda Pilot has helped shape the market for crossover SUVs with three rows of seating. Offering V6 power, respectable fuel economy, a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space and seven-to-eight-passenger seating, the Pilot is exactly the kind of vehicle that appeals to growing families who are leery of traditional minivans. Other crossover SUVs might be sportier to drive or more stylish on the inside, but Honda's three-row crossover appeals to your practical side and packs in a lot of functionality.
Choosing a Pilot is straightforward, as Honda packages equipment in a few basic trim levels rather than offering countless options. Regardless of the year, all Honda Pilots give you three useful rows of seating and lots of storage slots, though early models are smaller and aren't quite as accommodating for teenagers in the third row. Cargo capacity has also increased over the years.

disappointed88 - 2013 Honda Pilot
By disappointed88 - September 15 - 9:53 amI now have returned my 2013 Honda Pilot for repair for the fourth time in 10 months for the same vibration issue. After taking the service manager for a 50 mile road trip, he said the vibration was the worst he had experienced. After 3 days I have been advised that all the 2013 Honda Pilots have a similar vibration. How this suddenly happened, I do not know. Honda response is that this is a "Normal Vibration". I have never heard of such Bull. This has to be the worst vehicle I have ever owned and now Honda is offering NO help on this issue.

Mixed emotions - 2012 Honda Pilot
By pa350z2006 - September 11 - 9:37 amI have had my 2012 for 1.5 years now and 25,000 miles later. No major issues to date that left me stranded, getting the AC noise hopefully fixed this friday and warped rotors already. What is concerning is the vibration at 70mph. I would be cautious when buying this car, there is something going on here with the cylinder deactivation system. My car was fine till around 23k and then all of a sudden I have vibration coming from the front into the steering wheel and car. Its not alot but can tell its from the engine. Set the car at cruise 70mph on flat road, let it start to climb uphill slowly in eco mode and you will feel the vibration.

Beyond Expectations - 2013 Honda Pilot
By commandoii - August 17 - 8:05 pmOkay, I bought this car for my wife and now I want one. Drove everything in this category, CX9, Stretch and non stretch Sante Fe, GM moon rovers, explorer. Big fan of explorer looks and big Ford fan in general, but it drove (actually rented) too big and sadden to say, My Touch is out of touch. This pilot was very well equipped and drives fantastic and the Consumer Report parking lot handling quips are BS - it handles them with no problem. Everything inside is just right. But most of all the wife "loves" her pilot and for me that is all that matters. BTW those that dont like the boxy look try a few add-ons (eg.visors) , they sweeten the look. You dont drive the look. Great product!!

Terrible - 2008 Honda Pilot
By raystarlink - August 15 - 6:12 pm2008 Honda Pilot. Very overrated vehicle, especially considering cost,. Heavy low speed steering adequate power figgity transmission plows doesnt handle mediocre brakes gas guzzlerterrible stereo system ( good if you like rap- vehicle has a factory sub-woffer ). The following quit before 87,000km.....A/C -$2700 to repair - Honda dealer wont help brakes $1,100 transmission $1,700 electrical issues $ 500. Honda service very expensive....my previous BMW service was cheaper. When you drive a Mazda, Toyota, or domestic the Pilot feels 30 years older.

Vibration and Engine Ringing - 2013 Honda Pilot
By kr1839 - July 30 - 4:12 pmGo on a long test drive before buying this vehicle and tell the salesman not to talk so you can listen and feel without distraction. This vehicle has a pronounced vibration in echo mode which can be felt and heard. My vehicle also developed a very suttle ringing and I only have a few thousand miles on it. The dealer says it is just part of the vehicle design and that their computers say nothing is wrong. So Im SOL. I loved my first Honda Pilot but I wont buy another Honda product after this experience.

Great SUV but no where close do MDX - 2012 Honda Pilot
By brwndoggy - July 20 - 2:36 pmPurchased 2012 EXl with Nav almost 2 years ago. Averaging 17mpg city, 21 hwy. Far less than rated but thats the case on all cars Ive driven save my 2008 bmw 3 series that gets more than epa ratings... Drives well, have issues with front tires on lose ground given the power of the suv, tires do slip especially given the tires since they are for mpg vs handling. inside, appointments are great. love the radio, blue tooth syncs well with phones via usb or blutooth. standard audio package is good, did not see need for upgraded audio. rear camera - mixed blessing. use it only as general help, do not rely on it. use your mirrors and turn your head. sensors would be nice.

Very good vehicle - 2010 Honda Pilot
By cultured_hick - June 30 - 2:13 pmWe bought new in 12/2009, so have had for 3.5 years and only have 30k miles on, so mostly city driving. Never been in the shop except for oil and tires. Tires are 60k Michelins that wore out at 28k, but Michelin prorated replacement. It is a well thought out car when compared to competitors and much better value than the competitors. Engine is adequate, but certainly not a V8. Mileage is a little below represented, but likely 10% Ethanol in Gas is largely to blame. Thanks government. Get 21 Hwy and 16 City. Very stable on Hwy and great in snow. Third row is great and large carrying capacity when both rows down. Would definitely purchase again.

Love my Honda Pilot! - 2010 Honda Pilot
By sastx - June 3 - 9:29 amWe bought our Honda Pilot in May 2012, and absolutely love it! Its super roomy and there is so much space in the back (3rd row seats down) that we went on a road trip with 2 little kids and still had plenty of room to put more luggage in the back. I take it out to construction jobsites and love how it drives like a truck through rough terrain, but yet it feels smooth and sturdy when Im on the freeway. This is an SUV we are going to keep until the wheels fall off. If you have little kids, you might want to buy seat covers if you have the cloth seats, as they do tend to stain easily.

Great Vehicle - Well Loaded - 2013 Honda Pilot
By chrisallen2 - May 7 - 1:06 pmWe purchased the LX. This is my first actual "new" vehicle purchase so it could be that Im just overly excited about things that the rest of the world who have actually purchased new cars before consider normal, but it seems to me that the base model is actually pretty well loaded. So much so that I could not justify spending the extra money on another trim. It drives smooth, has plenty of room even in the back seat, suprisingly and while it would be nice to have the navigation and entertainment system, considering the difference in price, Im very happy with the features on the LX.

Base Model Pilot Still a Lovable Vehicle - 2013 Honda Pilot
By jmdrbp1 - April 17 - 4:55 amI purchase my 2013 Pilot LX having some regrets for not getting the 4wd model and a sun roof. I have since changed my mind. I like the spacious interior, solid ride and more than adequate pick up on the highway or when I need it. The seat adjustment gives me a high ride and excellent visibility. Spacious cargo space with the seats down. I love my Pilot.
