  • Poor Mileage with New Engine - 2005 Honda Odyssey
    By -

The 2005 Honda with the high efficiency engine touts 22 mpg city/28 highway is a joke. I have over 8,000 miles and the best that I can get is 16 around town and 22 on the highway. Honda has read the onboard computer and states that everything is up to specs. This is our third Odyssey and probably our last if the mileage does not improve.

Interior layout is great. only drawback is no telescoping steering wheel. DVD quality is above average for picture quality and great for size. Third seat fold is cake. 2nd row captains chairs are extremely comfortable. Exterior, I like the new headlights over earlier models. We love the slate green which depending on lighting can be silver or light blue to metallic green. Engine has power to spare. It has great high end acceleration. Wish it had auto rear hatch and laser cruise. Great Choice for mini van shoppers. Cant go wrong with how well this van holds its value.

  • From a Ford E350 to a Honda Touring - 2005 Honda Odyssey

gas mileage 17.4 around town and improving (2k miles), first nail in tire was a learning experience, go to your Honda dealer, only exchange available, have reservations on long term replacement and maint. of tires. Make sure the dealer assists you in initial set up of electronics or be prepared to read and play with set up. The seats comfort sold it! The electronic engine monitoring and performance make driving fun. Excellent in snow. Downshifting to reduce brake use works well in all driving situations--drivetrain will hold speed nicely on slight downgrades. Treated leather with Penguin UltraDry protector/floors with Scotchguard $30. Overall best $33,500 I have ever spent.

  • what a relief - 2005 Honda Odyssey

After driving an Expedition for the past 4 years, the Odyssey is like a luxury car!!---What a relief to not have to CLIMB in and out, to not go to the gas station every 3-4 days, to have solid feel when it hugs the road--My only complaint so far is how noisy the air conditioning system is-Living in the south its used 10-11months out of the year and the volume of the AC is way to loud

  • Gas, PAX tires, oil changes- what???? - 2005 Honda Odyssey
    By -

Mileage is poor despite the highly touted economy feature. Only the dealership can change the oil b/c oil changes elsewhere set off the check engine light and Honda charges $90 plus to reset and check. Dont get a nail in your tire. The entire wheel assembly must be replaced b/c no one can change or fix a flat PAX system tire, including Honda. Until they get their act together, out of warranty replacement will run $550 plus per "tire"- a most unpleasant discovery. Only Honda will have the wheel assembly available. With rear windows down, it is too noisy to drive. I was sold on this van by the comfort and handling b/c I drive a lot. Ownership has been a very frustrating experience.

  • Dissappointing - 2005 Honda Odyssey

This is our second time purchasing a Honda odyssey and I must say this will be our last. We have had nothing but constant problems. At 24,000 miles, Honda has replaced the breaks & had to turn the rotors twice to fix a grinding noise. Wind noise from the front windshield has resulted in 4 attempts from the dealership to resolve the problem. They finally got it right by replacing the windshield. This vehicle destroys tires! Our first set of Michelins only lasted 18,000 miles. Honda would not help us out even though we rotated and balance the tires every 3,000 miles. Our GPS went out at 12,000 miles and had to be replaced. There have been so many recalls on this vehicle it is comical.

  • Love it! - 2005 Honda Odyssey

I absolutely love this car. It is so comfortable to drive, and has lots of options for more seating or more cargo room. I am so looking forward to taking it on a 4000 mile trip this summer.

  • Awesome Minivan!!!! - 2005 Honda Odyssey

This is a fantactic vehicle! When we found out baby #2 was on the way, my wife told me she wanted to trade in our Toyota Highlander for a minivan. After my initial shock and then some extensive research, I thought we would go with the Sienna, but then I saw Honda was updating the Odyssey for 2005. After fully researching everything, and for the price, I got a pretty good deal from the dealership. My wife wanted a particular color, but we only had to wait about 4 weeks until we got it! It rides and drives like a car and has an unbelievable amount of space and features. The leather and DVD player are wonderful "luxuries" with 2 small kids and frequent trips to NC.

  • Honda delivers another knockout - 2005 Honda Odyssey

Absolutely the best minivan money can buy. Only fault is that a power liftgate should be standard on EX and above, and a 4WD model should be available. But overall, the best money can buy.

  • 2005 Odyssey Underperforms in Quality - 2005 Honda Odyssey
    By -

Own 6 months. Taking it back to the dealer for the third time for grinding brakes (also replaced antenna, rear view mirror) Gas mileage is way below the sticker - 17 combing around town/highway and 22-23 highway. Dealer says car is performing OK - I disagree We find the road noise to be very loud and there is a low vibration noise coming from the engine. I cannot believe this is right, but the dealer says it is OK. Front and rear bumpers appear to be discolored (Silver), have not spoke to dealer about this yet Interior is nice, lots of room. Kid friendly car, nice DVD. I find the drivers seat to be on the hard side not comfortable Overall, very unsatisfied with purchase.
