Overview & Reviews
Most significant for the Honda minivan this year is the option to get the Touring trim with the rear-seat entertainment system and not the navigation system. Previously, the two features were always packaged together. Other changes this year include additional child-seat tether anchors for the third row and standard satellite radio for the Touring model. Finally, stated power output for the Odyssey's V6 engine has dropped slightly due to Honda's adoption of a new SAE horsepower-rating procedure.
- Split flat-folding rear bench
- Agile, carlike handling
- Optional eight-passenger seating
- Strong reliability record.
- Extensive feature list
- Smooth and powerful V6

I hated the thought of a minivan... - 2006 Honda Odyssey
By Kim, Lansdale PA - July 5 - 9:20 pmI have to tell you that I owned a luxury station wagon before owning this Honda Odyssey. I fought it tooth and nail as I never thought I could be caught dead in a mini van. This car has surpassed any expectation that I have ever wanted! I have not had one problem in over a year, my children LOVE it and I have to say, I do too! This minivan is so much more than a mini van, it fits our very busy life style and I cannot see ever going back to spending BIG bucks on the luxury cars we used to buy to get so little in return. (We use to have a Mercedes wagon-just in case you were wondering) Their new mini van does not come anywhere close to what the Honda can provide. Go out and buy one!

FAMILY OF 6 - 2006 Honda Odyssey
By WILLIAM - June 11 - 7:18 pmThis is an awesome vehicle for any family. We replaced with a 2014 and love it as well. Will stay with odyssey until all 4 of my children are teens then maybe to something else. The Odyssey is a great height for children and mothers lifting car seats. We purchased Odyssey when we had our first child now we have 4 under 10 and is still the best choice for our family.

Disappointed so far - 2006 Honda Odyssey
By Soupboy - May 25 - 6:26 amTraded in my beloved WRX wagon for a van. Went with the loaded Odyssey Touring based on prior experience with an 98 Accord EX and favorable press. Bad move. Less than 90 days old it needed a complete tranny replacement and new molding on the windshield to eliminated horrible wind noise. Oh yeah, the mileage is awful regularly posting sub- 20mpg on road trips. The dealership said the tranny issue was attributable to a run of bad units from a particular vendor. The most offensive thing being they sell the van knowing the tranny will fail make you bring it in instead of proactively replacing it. Awful CS and negative goodwill. I would never buy this vehicle again.

Almost perfect - 2006 Honda Odyssey
By sam123 - May 14 - 12:03 amI replaced a near-luxury mid-size wagon with my first minivan, and Odyssey Touring ended up on top. The styling, driving dynamics, comfort and features all topped competition (Sienna, Quest, Town&Country). It is the most car-like driver of the lot, and top-line Touring has almost all the gizmos I could hope for. Fuel economy has been surprisingly good as well, besting my V6 wagon. As a first-time minivan owner, Im still being surprised by the amount of space and convenience; I should have made the switch sooner. The Touring has nice big wheels and just the right amount of brightwork, too; not your moms minivan.

The Odessey of MiniVans - 2006 Honda Odyssey
By Family Guy - March 6 - 11:13 pmHaving driven sports cars from the day I got my license (and still have one) I must say that having taken the family on 6 long distance trips so far, this is the most comfortable, well thought out vechicle for kids AND adults. The kids watch dvds with wireless headsets while the adults can still listen to "our" music/xm. Never once did we say, we wish this van had this or placed something there. Excellent workmanship, and the run flat tires give me piece of mind should the wife be driving with our 3 kids and get a flat.

Love this van! - 2006 Honda Odyssey
By Jen - March 4 - 4:56 pmI just bought this van and am in love with it! It is by far the nicest auto I have ever owned. I went with Edmunds recommendation of the Honda Odyssey and have not been disappointed. Once I drove the 2006 Odyssey, there was no turning back... even to a 2004 that was on the lot. There are many large and small well planned features. I am 6 tall and love the fact that the drivers seat is high, but I still have plenty of leg room and (ah-hem!) hip room:-). I know it will hold its value. I can see me owning this for many years!

Drove Them All.. Bought An Odyssey - 2006 Honda Odyssey
By dc_driver - February 11 - 10:53 pmWhen me and my wife decided to buy a minivan (let me state that I was pretty opposed to the thought in the beginning), we drove them all. Our main concerns were safety, performance/handling, reliability, resale, and features/functionality. After doing the research, I thought we would get either a Sienna or Odyssey, and the Odyssey ended up being a clear winner over the other three vans we compared (Toyota, Kia, Chrysler). The Odyssey is the most fun to drive and the EX-L had all the features we were looking for. The verdict is still out on gas mileage (our van has the VCM feature), but even on the first tank it gets better gas mileage than the car we traded in for it (Nissan Altima SE).

An Odyssey indeed - 2006 Honda Odyssey
By David - February 2 - 7:26 pmWeve actually owned two 2006 Odys in three months. We returned the first after four days due to the abysmal fit, finish and performance. Our second has proven to be not quite as bad but still not deserving of the Honda name. The MPG is terrible. 15 city with a light foot. The interior fit and finish is poor. The leather is cheap, the plastics even cheaper. It handles well, but plan on checking your tires pressure every week, because two pounds high or low turns it into a ill-handling beast. Avoid gravel roads and high curbs at all costs, due to where Honda mounted the AC. The sliding doors get confused easily. Plenty of cup holders, airbags and fellow owners to commiserate with, though.
