This Year's Model Updates:

Most significant for the Honda minivan this year is the option to get the Touring trim with the rear-seat entertainment system and not the navigation system. Previously, the two features were always packaged together. Other changes this year include additional child-seat tether anchors for the third row and standard satellite radio for the Touring model. Finally, stated power output for the Odyssey's V6 engine has dropped slightly due to Honda's adoption of a new SAE horsepower-rating procedure.

Pros:
  • Split flat-folding rear bench
  • Agile, carlike handling
  • Optional eight-passenger seating
  • Strong reliability record.
  • Extensive feature list
  • Smooth and powerful V6

  • Great overall but poor gas mileage - 2006 Honda Odyssey

Best looking Odyssey ever. Love both the outside as well as the inside. Drives very nice as a Honda should. The only thing I am not very happy with is the mileage 20mpg city/highway combined -- EPA est. was 22/28 for the EX-L.

  • Gas mileage got better - 2006 Honda Odyssey

Some people didnt like the gas mileage of there new Honda vans. I didnt like it either at first, But it has gotten a lot better now that its breaking in. Just went to Florida from upstate NY and at one time went 500 miles and still had almost a 1/4 of a tank of gas and avg between 70 & 75mph.

  • Unbelievable!! - 2006 Honda Odyssey

Ive had numerous vehicles in my life, and I must say that the 2006 Honda Odyssey is the most impressive vehicle Ive ever driven! The ride and feel reminds me of a smooth and tight sports car, but not lacking the interior space as seen in those vehicles. The cabin is a scene of tranquility and peace without the noise of the road. At normal interstate speeds, you could literally hear a pin drop.

  • My Paint Blotchy Too - 2006 Honda Odyssey

I read a posting on 9/7/2006 about blotchy silver pearl paint on their Odyssey. I too have the same color and noticed the same thing on my van. Only when you view the van on a bright sunny day and at an angle that you can see the blotches. I also went back to the dealer to complain and they told me that its very common with silver cars. They even showed me 3 other new vans on the lot and sure enough, they are all the same. But, I dont see the problem with my neighbors 2005 Sienna also in Silver. I am wondering if it has something to do with the pearls in the Honda paint. Otherwise I am very happy with the van. Wish that the gas mileage would be better, getting 17mpg city.

We love the van, only have about 400 miles on it so far. Just thought we can offer some opinion on the van for future buyers. First of all, for serious matter, the brakes make low noises at low speed; in addition, the pedals vibrate for about 2 seconds. Just spoke to authorized honda advisor, appearantly, it is a known problem and they dont have a fix to it. Said it is normal. Furtunately, she said it wont damage the van. She also has a honda accord and experienced the same problem. I was also told that the van will make the same noises when it is on reverse. LOL. But overall, we still love this van for its design, quality and reliability.

  • I never thought Id say this... - 2006 Honda Odyssey

Now with 3 kids I had to upgrade from my Nissan Murano to the Odyssey. I never thought Id be a "minivan mom" but the Odyssey is so comfortable and convenient, with lots of room, Im so glad we got it. I wish the gas mileage was better. The DVD is great and I love the auto side doors. Very happy with it!

  • Best Mini Van out there! - 2006 Honda Odyssey

I bought Odyssey EX-L January 3rd and have already put 800 miles on it. I traded my old Caravan SE which was good but very noisy. The Odyssey is great, you can talk in the front and be hear in the back seats! My dad is 63" and he fits perfectly on the second row while it was difficult for him to get into the Caravan. I love this Mini van, it is very agile, responsive and we have been getting about 25mpg mixed hgwy/city driving, not bad at all! (We do not have led feet). However, make sure you test drive as I found some of the mini vans had cheap plastic sounds before I found the one we bought.

Driving this minivan is pure joy. Plenty of power when you need it. ALL Seats are VERY comfortable when compared to the "Stow and Go" competition we looked at during shopping. Our kids love the car. DVD screen is large and headphones work great. 4000 miles and no problems. No wind noise, no VCM noise from engine, nothing, nada. Mileage has been around 21-22 in city, no long trips yet. Have gotten several comments from neighbors, random people, asking how we liked it... This is my wifes vehicle which we purchased when she totaled her car. I love this vehicle, this is coming from the owner of an Expedition and a 5.0L Mustang, I never had high regard for minivans before this car.

50 mph and 60/70 very bad droning/humming noise and vibration. Its a shame because its spoils a otherwise good car.
