  • Great car. Poor MPG! - 2005 Honda Odyssey

One of the primary reasons I purchased my Odyssey was is EPA mpg ratings. It is nowhere close. I have had it for less than a month and I get about 16MPG combined.

  • Very Noisy at 50mph - 2005 Honda Odyssey
    By -

I purchased a 2005 because I had zero complaints with my first Odyssey, a 2001. I did not take a long test drive of the 2005 because: "its a Honda, it must be a good car". I wish I could have it to do over. For me there is a real annoying problem with the car. The overdrive kicks in at 50 mph, with the torque converter locking up very quickly. The RPM drops to 1300 to 1500 RPM and if feels like an old stick truck with the engine lugging/vibrating. The steering wheel actually vibrates along with a annoying audiable vibration noise. The dealer called Honda and they indicated yes this is an issue, wait 1000 miles to see if it gets better with converter wear. I wish I had it to do over.

  • Mostly Great Van - 2005 Honda Odyssey

No doubt Honda is a step up in quality from our old Pontiac van. The engine perform is great, design and roominess and comforst all great. The price beat Sienna. It mimicks the euro sedan drive as much as a van possibly could. A few disappointments (expectations were high) are the whistling from wind on the passenger side (got it to stop by sticking a tshirt under the wiper blade - how dumb does that look!), gas mpg NOT 20/28 as EPA estimates - we avg about 21, the rubber strip at the bottom of sliding doors getting pushed back and when water gets in its causing rusting of metal tabs. Also limited packaging meant we didnt get all features we wanted. Overall a great van!

I have driven this car for 2000 miles and I thoroughly have enjoyed it, mileage was great on a parkway otherwise so, so very comfortable, can rearrange 2nd row of seats according to the needs-it was good for long trip, before I owned Nissan Murano I miss some features from that car but I would not go back.It is a great car I do not regret buying it.

Although we have only owned our 2005 Honda Odyssey for a little over 2 months, we are thrilled with all aspects of this vehicle. It drives likes a high-end luxury vehicle, it is quiet, and the Touring Model has as extraordinary list of options. The safety options are particularly impressive. I am thus far a very satisfied customer.

  • disappointment - 2005 Honda Odyssey

My children encouraged me to purchase a Honda. After driving voyagers and caravans for almost twenty years,I was looking forward to moving up to a town and country, instead purchased the touring model of the Odyssey. The car was in the shop for over ten days, two trips to the dealership, two wasted days of my time, to fix an engine light on the dash. The touring model is supposed to have adjustable armrests, not so, and the dealer said it is within parameters. The interior finish is ok but not what I expected from Honda. Would I buy this car again? No, it is not worth 35,000.

The vehicle has been a useful addition. It handles well and rides well over the potholed interstates.

  • Vans are better than SUVs. - 2005 Honda Odyssey

Excellent car, drives more like a car than a van.Two things Id change:put in digital dash, you cant read the dashboard with sunglasses;next it would be nice to have an audio alarm on the parking brake. We frequently drive with it on. Also it would be satisfing to be able to notify the manufacturer with suggestions.

  • Hoping its as good as I hope - 2005 Honda Odyssey
    By -

I have read about the Honda Odyssey since 1999 and thought about getting one. Ive been to many dealerships over the years and finally decided to take the plunge on the new 2005. The vehicle is unmatched in creature comforts. Frankly, Im not sure what others talk about when they say the 2005 Odyssey isnt quiet. While its not a Lexus, it is pretty quiet-much quieter than previous Odysseys. Also, a MUCH better stereo. It isnt as comfortable as some other vehicles, but handles so much better than any other minivan, theres really no contest. Great in snow. Overall impressive, but Im a bit concerned with passenger sliding door and the windshield fluid not working right yet! Hoping!

  • CRACKED ENG-BLOCK @ 1400 MILES!? - 2005 Honda Odyssey
    By -

Been wanting an Odyssey since last model, knowing of their reliability and value! To make a long story short, @ 1400 miles oil started leaking which ended up to be a cracked engine block ... as per Honda and their engineers, they told/approved the dealership to "fix" it with some kind of BOND!!! Is this what you would want? I wanted a substitute of collateral (another car)... Honda Motor said, the engine has to crack again @ least a few more times. Until then dont even think about us giving you another car!!! Sincerely,Not a satisfied consumer
