This Year's Model Updates:

The Odyssey gains an intermittent rear window wiper this year, as well as an auto up-and-down driver-side window.

Pros:
  • Excellent crash test scores, huge interior, fold-flat third-row seat, powerful V6, optional navigation and entertainment system.
Cons:
  • Quality of some interior materials could be better, high demand limits negotiating possibilities.

  • Great van for its price. - 2003 Honda Odyssey

Great van to haul a bunch of people and plenty of power to do it with. The interior could have function better if it has more useful items such as a storage console instead of a tray, external thermostat, compass, etc. The power outlet in the front is too low to access while driving.

  • UNRELIABLE! - 2003 Honda Odyssey

Ive been stranded too many times with my kids. This is the 3rd transmission they are putting in it. The doors have to be slammed for them to close. It has many rattles when the seats are stored. I have talked to other owners of Hondas, and they have had many service problems also. My question is this, WHY HASNT HONDA RECALLED THESE THINGS YET?

  • Honda van was worth the wait - 2003 Honda Odyssey

This is a great van - a typical Honda. Well thought out, well designed, will be reliable , lots of standard features no dealer gouging on all those packages. This is a powerful, comfortable, functional and yes, fun to drive vehicle . There is tons of space and with the movable 2nd row and folding 3rd row additional space is easy to get to. Thought we would never buy a van (after driving other manufacturers offerings and the stigma) - I cant believe we waiting this long (turns out we just werent trying the right one). The 4 month wait was worth it, will buy another in a heartbeat.

We purchased the EX-L with Rear Entertainment System. What a wonderful automobile, inside and out. It really lives up to the Honda reputation. We only have about 6000 miles on it, so the reliability is to be seen. Finally a minivan with plenty of power to carry a full load of people. We cant wait to take the kids to Disney World in it, the DVD player will be a life saver on the long trip.

I love my odyssey. All the room, the magic seat, the gas milage, the power doors, and all the rest. What more can we ask for.

  • Disappointed - 2003 Honda Odyssey

We have owned a number of honda cars over the years (even have a honda lawnmower)but the Odyssey has been a disappointment. At first it was wonderful, a dream to drive and ride in. But problems have developed. Ours has problems with the autodoor buzzer going off when we make a tight turn. The engine is not running well, it "chuggs" at about 1500 RPM, and it is out of alingment already. On top of that a freind who recommended it to us has a 2000 model with 50000+ miles and the transmission is going. This could be a great vehicle, but these problems keep us from enjoying it.

Reliability is not its only virtue. I got the tow package, it toes my boat fine. Handels well and rides smoothly. I am not a fan of vans, but the Honda Odyssey one is really good vehicle that happens to be a van.

THIS IS FOR ALL OF YOU WHO ARE Intending to purchase the Honda Odyssey van. GO TO a search engine and type in "HONDA PROBLEMS". THE ODYSSEY HAS HAD TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS FROM 1999 TO 2003,AND THEY WILL NOT FIX THEM.YOU MUST PAY OVER $6.000 to have them repaired when they go out of warrenty at about 36,000 miles/3 years,so dont listen to all these reports how great these van are. There are several sites with true comsumer comments. Like I would tell anyone buying a new car..take a little time and...Due some checking before your purchase!
