This Year's Model Updates:

Most significant for the Honda minivan this year is the option to get the Touring trim with the rear-seat entertainment system and not the navigation system. Previously, the two features were always packaged together. Other changes this year include additional child-seat tether anchors for the third row and standard satellite radio for the Touring model. Finally, stated power output for the Odyssey's V6 engine has dropped slightly due to Honda's adoption of a new SAE horsepower-rating procedure.

Pros:
  • Split flat-folding rear bench
  • Agile, carlike handling
  • Optional eight-passenger seating
  • Strong reliability record.
  • Extensive feature list
  • Smooth and powerful V6

  • My first brand new Honda - 2006 Honda Odyssey

Owned a 2000 ody before buying this 06. Loved the 00 but wife wrecked. 06 is FA-BU-LOUS!!! I have to schedule time to drive it because it is always with the wife nice. Drove 2500 miles within the first month of owning the vehicle. Plan to do it again...

Van is great, all as promised except for the mileage, best Ive got is 22.5, sticker shows 28, but I guess that must be in winter, downhill and with a tailwind. Numbers on MPG should be conservative not ideal conditions, which do not normally exist.

We are very pleased with our Honda. It is the greatest van we have ever owned. Very comfortable. Love the spaciousness inside, the rear seats that fold intothe floor, and the power doors. We travel very often with six adults and everyone talks about how comfortable it is.

  • This is a GREAT Minivan! - 2006 Honda Odyssey

My Wife and I have made fun at minivan people for years. We never test drove one as we wouldnt get caught dead in one. But then we were pregnant with our 4th baby. The Odessey is one awesome minivan. Strong engine, cool to drive, great fuel economy (then again, our previous car was a GMC Yukon XL) and absolutely, positively the most versatile and comfortable vehicle for someone with a family. If you have 1-2 kids, get a sedan or a wagon, if more kids this is your car. Seats move, come off and configure anyway you want them. Get the DVD player if you have kids, its well worth it! The sunroof is great too.

  • Not Surprised - 2006 Honda Odyssey

I compared the Odyssey and the Sienna heavily. On paper they seem to be rather equal, but after actually driving the two, the Odyssey won by a landslide. I am also enjoying the fact my van is the most powerful van in its segment but also has the best fuel economy all the while having to use only regular, keeping my pocket book happy. Other things that put me over the edge was the styling of the van and the navigation system. My black Touring with Nav is everything I hoped for and more.

  • Dont Buy Honda for Fuel economy.. - 2006 Honda Odyssey

The car is perfect in almost every respect except for FUEL ECONOMY.. started out at 12mpg city and 16-21mpg hwy.. thats 40% below city and 25%+ below hwy EPA estimates.. Just over 9000 miles and its 14-15 city and 19- 23 hwy.. Thats very gentle driving.. No hard acceleration.. The Honda service manager told me that is about typical economy for the Odyssey with VCM.. My 7200lb 4x4 Crewcab F-250 diesel gets better fuel economy than the Honda.. From 5 or 6 other VCM owners, I get the same report on economy.. I bought the car over the Toyota strictly on economy.. Honda USA is disingenuous to mislead the consumer on the fuel efficiency of the Odyssey.. It weighs 4600lbs!!

Very good design.. But poor MPG and shimmy brake make me not so comfortable when I drive it.

  • happy with this van - 2006 Honda Odyssey

Like many others it came down to the Honda & the Toyota. Both are excellent vans. Like many of the other reviews I would like better gas mileage, I am getting 19 to 20 with mixed driving. I think a van at this price point should come with an automatic tail gate, also I would like an option for a removable console between the front seats, and water bottle holders. Also my biggest complaint is with a small child I would like to be able to split the audio between the front and back when she is watching a video, she is 2 small for the headphones. A telescopic steering wheel, & std. trans. cooler would be nice. The backup camera is a wonderful feature.

  • Unsafe windows - 2006 Honda Odyssey

The main drawbacks are a safety issue and Hondas response. The drivers side window has an auto- up feature. This feature lets you put up your window with a flick of a switch. The only way to stop it is with the switch. There is no sensor stopping the upward motion and even if you press down on the window it will not stop. This works even when the window lock is on and the keys are out of the ignition. Hondas response was that "this is how it was designed, it is not a problem and we dont see a need to change it". Honda also stated "If we had any issues/concerns they needed to be settled when vehicle was purchased". other eg:XM,HVAC.check everything closely b4 u buy!

  • Fun luxurious family vehicle - 2006 Honda Odyssey

Awesome minivan. Great minivan that this is, for a top of the line fully loaded minivan it has a few missing features. Honda should have thought of these for its customers since they are paying $40000 or more (all told) for this van.
