This Year's Model Updates:

Most significant for the Honda minivan this year is the option to get the Touring trim with the rear-seat entertainment system and not the navigation system. Previously, the two features were always packaged together. Other changes this year include additional child-seat tether anchors for the third row and standard satellite radio for the Touring model. Finally, stated power output for the Odyssey's V6 engine has dropped slightly due to Honda's adoption of a new SAE horsepower-rating procedure.

Pros:
  • Split flat-folding rear bench
  • Agile, carlike handling
  • Optional eight-passenger seating
  • Strong reliability record.
  • Extensive feature list
  • Smooth and powerful V6

  • We love Honda - still - 2006 Honda Odyssey

So, the van is a bit over a year old and yes weve had some issues - auto doors that open inconsistently, replaced power steering pump, honda wind noise. But we LOVE this car - mileage is averaging in the low to mid 20s combo of highway and city driving -excellent handling. My wife is tiny and the car fits her well - the kids get in and out on their own. This van can lug stuff and holds up well.

  • Love my Odyssey BUT poor gas mileage! - 2006 Honda Odyssey

I just purchased a 2006 Honda Odyssey EXL. Overall, I really love it. It drives smoothly and has all the features I could dream of. My only complaint is the mileage has been way less then I hoped for. I have only been averaging 15-16mpg (about half hwy miles, no a/c) I hope this is just a break-in period for the engine and my gas mileage improves. If not, I am very disapointed. I chose a van over a SUV for gas mileage, and this is really no better than a Suburban.

  • Family fun - 2006 Honda Odyssey

We have been driving this van for two weeks now, up from a 2004 Honda CRV. It is very roomy inside, the base model has all I want, the ride is very comfortable. The amount of cargo room is impressive because the floor is very low (the spare tire is under the middle seats) I tried the 2006 Sienna: downshifting from 5th to 4th was very noticeable, not on the Sienna. Other than that, they are very similar. Note: the van can accomodate only three child seats: two in the middle row, one at the center of the third row -- read my problem with hooks below. With a child seat in the third row, you cannot lower the widest portion (60%) of the third row, only the narrowest (40%).

  • Lives up to Honda reputation - 2006 Honda Odyssey

Bought the Honda in early October and Ihave already driven it 1800 miles on a recent trip without any problems. The car drives very smoothly and the wind noise is minimal. The pick up is decent for a 4000 pound car. I seriously considered the Sienna, but so far have no regrets.

  • Perfect Choice for a family on the go - 2006 Honda Odyssey

Let me begin by saying I have never had any hangups about driving/owning a mini- van. My parents always drove a full size conversion van when we were young and then moved on to mini-vans when they came out in the 80s. I agonized over which van to buy, looked long and hard at the Dodge/Chrysler van, the Hyundai Entourage (way nicer than expected), the Quest and the Sienna. I could not be happier with the final choice. It really does drive like a full sized sedan. In some aspects it is better, you dont have the low visibilty over the hood that you do in a sedan and the driving position is high enough to see the road regardless of the height of the driver.

  • Hyundai or Honda? - 2006 Honda Odyssey

Had Hondas most of my life, very reliable cars!! Until now....Im grateful I leased her. Engine doesnt run right when cold (not talking freezing!!), dealer says theres nothing wrong? Gas mileage is worse than wifes CRV! Seat belt warning beep keeps going off except when I get close to dealer to show em!

  • Excellent! A great upgrade 2002 Odyssey - 2006 Honda Odyssey
    By -

This is my 4th Honda, and my second Odyssey. I love everything about it! I havent had issues with the fuel economy at all, and am averaging ~24 mpg. I drive 60 miles a day round trip in Atlanta rush hour traffic. The 2006 is a huge upgrade from the 2002 model. This van rides like a car, very smooth. Issues I had with the 2002 such as hesitating transmission, horsepower, etc. seem to be resolved with the 2006 model. Love It!

  • minivans rule - 2006 Honda Odyssey

When we decided to shop for a large SUV I was looking either for a Toyota Highlander or a Honda Pilot. I never imagined that I will buy a minivan (not sporty enough). I tried a few used SUVs but I didnt like the "feel of the wheel". When I first tried that used Odyssey, just to show my wife why we dont need a minivan... it was love at first sight! It drives so nice and its so much more comfortable than an SUV! As Edmunds says, there are 2 categories of people: the ones who like the Ody and the ones who dont know this yet!

I just want to start off by saying this is a great van. Its great on gas and it drives like a car. My two girls love this van. The dvd player was way too much, w/navi system so opt. not to have and just installed the dvd my self. Great van, number one choice in my book.
