  • Best Van for the $$ - 2004 Honda Odyssey

This is a wonderful minivan. My kids love the DVD system, while I love still listening to music I like up front. The interior is very spacious, and I especially like the more conservative exterior design. I bought a 2004 model in fear of an "ugly" 2005 replacement. Nissan killed the Quest with its redesign - I only hope Honda doesnt follow suit. Honda needs to change the size of the fuel reserve - more than 1/3 of the tank being full when the light comes on is ridiculous.

I had been looking for a van or SUV for quite some time and am very happy with my Oddyssey. For the last few weeks, we have been breaking the Odyssey in taking drives up and down the coast and have been pleased at the comfortable ride, handling, cornering and very ample acceleration. My fuel mileage has been about 20mpg for combined street and freeway driving. It has a very solid feel and we feel very safe riding in it.

The car is very solid, ride is firm, handling is very good, comfort is great, the ergonomics are very good. Acceleration is acceptable as well as the mileage. Unseen items such as traction control, 4 wheel disc brakes, courtain air bags and crumpling front and rear ends, provide a great degree of secutity.

We absolutely love this van! It is a big change from the Kia Sephia we were driving. I feel like we got a very good deal on it and it was in like new condition with the occassional scratches for a 4yr old van. It drives and handles wonderfully. I love the heated seats and the dvd plays great. My only complaint is that I wish the back tailgate would lift and close more smoothly. Other than that I love it! Gas mileage is 20-25 depending on where I am driving. It is very spacious and I like that you can move the 2 middle captain seats around or take them out. And also that the back seats lowers down for more space. This is a Great van! No way could we have paid the new sticker price for it.

This is are first van and we will by far trade it in on another Honda Oddessy.

  • Great van. - 2004 Honda Odyssey

This is just a great van. However, with competition from Nissan (styling) and Toyota (AWD), who have finally got the disappearing seat, it race is even now. Hopefully the next model will address it.

We bought our Ody new in 5/2004 and have put 38k on it since. Unless you plan to tow or offroad, this van is an excellent choice. It is like a good leatherman tool - it does everything you ask of it. The seats are superbly comfy, even the 3rd row is useable (an Im 67"). Plus, the driving dynamics are very good for a 2+ ton minivan. Steering is nicely weighted and precise. Handling is very good. Power is pretty awesome, especially when you feel (and hear) the VTEC system kick in at around 4600 rpm. Gas mileage is respectable for such a vehicle of its weight and power. And it runs happily on Regular, unlike the Toyota Sienna in 04 - that was a big selling point.

This is a wonderful driving van. Only negative is some wind noise. I would highly recommended this model. The wireless DVD headphones, seperate control for front & back radio/DVD is a great feature.

  • Still a Benchmark after 5 years - 2004 Honda Odyssey

Finally bought our dream van. Researched all the others, chose the best (Toyota was not discounting the 2004 Sienna). Great value, the best design and engineering...its a Honda. Great resale and safety ratings too. Powerful, solid body structure, great handling, good mpg. Does not have all the gimmicks that other have, just a well engineered vehicle.

I love my Odyssey, It is very dependable and drives like a car instead of a van. It comfortably fits 7 people into it.
