  • ’16 Honda HRV, not bad, just good - 2016 Honda HR-V

After stalking and researching this vehicle for a year since its release in summer 2015, I finally own it… well it is financed. I must say I enjoy the car and everyone that has the opportunity to ride along with me always ask – is this a Honda CRV and always entertained or thinks the rear door handle location is pretty cool. PROS ** Fueling up is easy on the purse ** Space is more than sufficient for my 2 French Mastiffs or 3 adults and I. ** Miles per gallon is average on these Atlanta street and highways. I have not really got to the 33 mph, most I can get when oil quality is 50% of better is 28.6 MPG and when oil is at 40% 27.7 MPG. ** Bluetooth feature a plus, connects to my phone without any issues. ** Navigating out of a small space – exceptional – turning radius is on point. CONS ** Headlights illumination is not great when traveling up a slight to extreme incline; visibility covers about 5-10 feet ahead of your vehicle (could be more). The directional of the light appears more downward toward the pavement illuminating right below the license plate/bumper area if other vehicle. ** Seats are moderately comfortable but would not recommend for long distance road trips if you have back issues. ** Extremely bouncy on poorly paved roads ** USB port is not compatible with my android phone and it cannot be used as a charge port for mobile devise. ** Cabin noise is horrible on certain areas of the HWY in Atlanta when traveling 50 ++ mph, sounds like all the windows are down but in actuality all the windows are rolled up. ** Lining through the back of vehicle (floor panels) cheap. At the end of it all, it is mine and I will make the best of it but there is definitely room for improvement.

Love the car, just what I was looking for for a personal v. working vehicle. Just a few caveats: (a) Im relatively short (53") but still have to be careful not to bump knees on steering column when getting in, after that, theres plenty of room, (b) theres precious little handy storage space for incidentals (pens, keys, etc.) in drivers cabin, (c) for some reason, rain drops seem to stay on windshield, washer/wipers dont sweep them away, going to try windexing them today and see if it continues to be problem.

  • Disliking this car each day even more !! - 2016 Honda HR-V

This car seems very nice and comfortable at your eyes, but the truth is that it has many things that do not work properly. The oil gets bad fast and i have to change it too often. I can`t stand the brakes on this vehicle, very poor acceleration, I feel the transmission on this car is no good at all. Ac does not cool enough, the car gets hot in minutes. The brakes make a strange sound and i can feel as if it hit my foot as I press the brakes. I don`t feel safe at all. Also the interior looks very nice but I only have this vehicle for ten months and the seats look like a five year old car. The sound from the outside, inside the vehicle is too loud. When I am driving I feel like if the windows are open when they are all close. If I am park any sound from outside is heard clear inside the vehicle, sometimes people close their vehicle doors park behind me and I can hear like if someone hit my car with something. I definitely want to give this car back and get my money. I paid around $35,000.00 for this car and is not worth half of it.

  • Woderful & Lovable Car - 2016 Honda HR-V

This is my first car in USA. I really loving it and enjoying each ride. I bought the base version but it has all the important features on it. Pros: 1. Smooth handling and gets good control over the car even in big curves and sharp turns. 2. High class interiors - it makes me feel like im driving a Costliest car. Good car in less Price. 3. More cargo space & rear seat space. Nice car for big families with more than 1 children with booster seats. 4. Electronic parking brakes are good and easy to use. Cons: 1. Personally i feel that the steering handle is little bit thin for this big car. But this is not a major problem, we can get rid of this by putting a leather wrap on it. Overall hats off to Honda for launching the brand new HR-V into the market. All the best for the new HR-V buyers..

  • Not So Good - 2016 Honda HR-V

All the negatives are true, I never read or made any reviews but I have to read about HR-V, coz for a brand new car, Im like whats going on with my brand new car? So, I have to see what other people are saying about this car. I thought it was just my car. And also, not even a month when I got a check engine, an electric parking symbol, and it keeps blinking, at the Honda service center, they said thats weird, they fixed it, the problem was ,oxygen valve or something...they have to changed it..

I have had this vehicle since Sept. 26, 2015. I bought the 2016 EX model as it has some of the latest technology. Sunroof, large screen with practical instant information. I thought I would miss Sirrus radio but I have not as I play Pandora and now Spotify which is my music on bluetooth. I like that this is a Crossover. I had a CR-V prior to this and in comparing the HR-V I much prefer the HR-V for handling and easy entry and exit. I would have preferred leather seats but purchased covers which match the interior and keep the seats clean. I use my smart phone for navigation so I felt I did not need the next model up just to get leather and navigation. Lots of features on this little beauty. Smooth ride and comfortable seats. They could put better quality carpeting but this is a minor distraction. The engine could be a little bigger for more power but I have adjusted to the change and feel comfortable with it now. The dealers have been having low inventory so selection of colors is limited but it is an indication that this is a popular vehicle and I predict it will be a very successful addition to Hondas fleet. I will be driving mine for many years to come.

  • Bad back? Do NOT buy this car! - 2016 Honda HR-V
    By -

I bought one of the first HRVs at my local dealership and its been the WORST car that Ive ever bought! After 5 month and 8K miles, its been to the service dept repeatedly for squeaking, rattling and suspension issues. The suspension rides very rough and I bought the car because I have a bad back and its higher than my last Honda. Big mistake! My other Honda was lower (2013 EX Civic), but it didnt cause pain when I went over bumps in the road- the HRV does! On a recent road trip, the freeway was under construction and the car was difficult to drive on the uneven road. It was swaying and hopping up and down soo bad that it literally "jumped" into the lane next to me! It scared the death out of me! The dealer would not document the freeway event and maintains that there is nothing mechanically wrong with my car. The service manager told my that the what Im experiencing is "inherent" to HRVs performance. The dealership was talking about getting me into another car but decided that it wasnt "cost effective" for them. After one of the many visits to the dealership, one of the squeaks was thought to be coming from the drivers seat and the guys in the service dept eluded that maybe it was "my weight" causing it! Im 65" 225lbs. I was very offended, but I didnt say anything in the hopes they would just fix the problem. It didnt happen. On the most recent visit to the service dept, the car had 61 miles put on it overnight without anything being fixed. When I asked why so many miles were put on my car in one night, a person in the service department became confrontational and screamed at me. Despite being in the shop MULTIPLE times, my car still has the same problems. In all good faith, I could not recommend this car or even Honda as a brand anymore. I have waited weeks to speak to a rep from Honda about their "brand new car," but they have NOT contacted me. The dealership tells me a rep will be here in the next few weeks. I have been a Honda customer for the last 10 years and have bought three brand new vehicles from them, but this is the last one. I have never been soo disrespected by a retailer or ignored by a manufacturer like I have been in the last few months by Honda and the dealer. Ive been meeting with attorneys to find out what rights I have as a consumer because neither the dealership or Honda is fixing this car or care about how bad it is or my safety! WARNING! Its VERY easy to get into this car at the dealership but VERY hard to get out of it once you realize how bad it is (and drop thousands for tax, license, doc fees and extended warranty). Outrageous amounts of road noise, the A/C is under powered, the list keeps going on and on. Read some of the other reviews on this car before you buy! Its not just the HRV either. Research the vibration problem with 2015 CRV. Shame on you Honda!

  • Interior flexibility worth the price of admission - 2016 Honda HR-V

My last car was a 2013 Subaru Impreza hatchback. I wanted a small AWD vehicle, decent mileage, with ample interior room to carry assorted riding (equine) equipment. The CR-V, RAV-4, Ford Escape were all in the running, but I didnt have any use for a car of that size. Off road was not a consideration. The reason I didnt want another Subaru was the excessive road noise. The Honda HR-V is almost perfect. The back seats fold completely flat. The seat cushions also fold up which adds enormous flexibility. The ride is very comfortable - softer than my Subaru. I drive a lot on country roads. I have been getting 26 mpg, a bit disappointing. Road noise is significantly less than my Subaru, but still a bit loud on cement freeways. However, I can still hear radio and phone conversations, which I couldnt do on my last car. One telling sign of excessive road noise is if Siri or the Honda voice recognition can hear me on those cement freeways and in that regard, the Honda flunks the test. Regarding comfort, I love the heated seats. The phone/navigation/sound controls are easy enough for a screen based system, but require that i remove my eyes from the road. The sound system is a definite step up from my Subaru. I would call it respectable. I am so short, I always need to sit on a cushion regardless of the seat controls. However, I like that the Honda seat is more flat in its raised position than most cars. The push-button start is nice. Handling is decent. I find the right turn camera very helpful. Some reviewers said it was unnecessary and distracting. You get used to it pretty quickly and learn to use it. I havent used it in the dark, but during daylight hours, it works great for lane changes and turns. My car came with all weather mats, a necessity for me. There is no real carpeting underneath the mats - its a felt - the kind you might find in your trunk. Thats not easy to clean, so Im glad I have the mats. My car did not come with a trunk cover and I dont see a place to attach one. Not sure if one is available. My dealer does all maintenance for two years, which is great for my three-year lease. Some reviewers mentioned rattles - none on my car. So far, I am very happy with my purchase. I drove it during a very harsh winter and it handled well in the snow and rain.

  • Great little SUV - 2016 Honda HR-V

I bought this car after almost six years of driving a CRZ. What a difference! A lot more comfortable seat, also easier getting in and out. Great visibility. Watch lane and rear view camera are extremely helpful. Im not sorry I chose this car. UPDATE: still very glad with the purchase of this H-RV! Its end of November. We live on a hill in MA. Snow and bad weather are coming but Im unafraid! And its very reasonable on gas. No problems at all. It has over 4000 miles now, I think. Mzy 23, 2017 After 9000 miles now and driving through ice and snow, I still think this is the best car.

  • Generally what I wanted - 2016 Honda HR-V
    By -

Bought 5/21/15. Have 2600 miles. Mostly short city trips. MPG 23.5 City, got 32 on highway one trip. Steering good. turning radius is tight. Style (look) good. Drivers seat is hard, added 1" foam to seat and back which helped. Lumbar killed my back. Could not find commercial pillow to help, make my own out of 4.5" foam, works. I have always had a sensitive back. Ride somewhat bumpy but acceptable. Entry/exit is good, had a 99 Civic prior which was too low. Could be more storage spaces in cabin. Finally came out with a cargo cover in October, but looked cheesy. Made my own out of 1/4" plywood, works gook. Road noise is acceptable, can talk to others. I forget to turn the lights on at night, because the dash is already lite up prior, different from prior car. Acceleration is acceptable.
