Great Idea but could use a few tweaks - 2016 Honda HR-V
By Anita Campbell - May 12 - 1:45 pmI test drove and also researched a AWL HRV EX as a smaller alternative to a CRV LX. I loved the smaller overall size, good safety rating and adaptability of the seating which allowed the second row split seat to fold flat forward or fold back. The passenger seat folded backwards into a flat position and literature showed the ability to haul a kayak on that side of the car. The HRV also has a cute "hidden" back door handle that meets the triangular shaped rear side window. For the difference in exterior space between the 2016 HRV EX and 2013 CRV LX which I currently own, there was about 6 inches in width and length. However, the front seat of the HRV was quite cramped feeling (left to right) in comparison. Also, sitting in the front at a comfortable distance to the steering wheel and controls, (I am 53") felt like I was right up against the windshield. Headroom was very limited and I felt my 63" son would have to crouch sitting in the car whether front or back seat. My major concern, however, was in the smallness of Horsepower of the engine. (The HRV uses the same one as the Honda Fit). I previously owned the smaller 1998 Honda Odyssey for 12 years which many criticized for poor pickup and although lower (150) in HP than my current CRV (185), the Odyssey still scored 9 more horses than the HRV (141). I am a senior and dont have a need for speed but if I am going to have a car that can carry materials from home and garden centers or an occasional piece of furniture, I dont want to be straining on the highway. This is the first year the HRV is being offered and I am hoping that future models will address some of these concerns. It would be welcome also to see the price tag fall a bit lower in comparison to the CRV.

Windshield defrosting. - 2016 Honda HR-V
By Jeff Clagg - April 6 - 12:21 pmPoor design in windshield defrosting system. Blower needs to be set at 3 or higher to clear inside windshield of fog buildup. Upper corners and door glass on all doors stay foggy. And this is with outdoor temperatures above 32 degrees.

Poor body fit.... - 2016 Honda HR-V
By Steve - April 1 - 10:29 pmI have looked at 15+ of the 2016 Honda HRVs and have yet to find one that the body panels fit without having offsets. look at the area where the front of the front doors are near the front fenders both sides and you will see and feel the offsets, hopefully these can be adjusted/ aligned at the Dealerships before or after purchase. Have yet to purchase this Honda.

Not carpeted - 2016 Honda HR-V
By L.L.A. - February 24 - 12:58 pmI didnt realize that the car did not have carpeting until I got it home the next day. Everything in the car was black and the emphasis with the dealer was the controls. Ive never heard of a car without carpeting. I have the EX. I guess because they put in a moon roof and heated seats they had to cut cost somewhere else. I scotch guard everything in the car anyway and do not have kids. The seats fit my body perfect. Overall I like the HR-V, a step down from my previous CR-V.

Went from 2007 Fit Sport to HR-V EX - 2016 Honda HR-V
By Dan Dormio - February 3 - 10:22 amI knew basically what I wanted but did not know what would give it to me. I looked around and had never heard of the HR-V until I was looking at a CR-V and remarked to the salesman that it was bigger than I wanted. He asked if I had looked at the HR-V. He had one. I looked it over and the salesman and I took a test drive. It had the magic seats that I really liked in the Fit. It was bigger, which I was looking for, quieter, nicer ride, etc. The features were excellent although the USB, HDMI, and 12 volt power supply are inconveniently located. At the time I was driving my F150. I took it home and came back with my Fit. I then took the HR-V for a ride by myself. I took it home and got my wife and we went for a ride, curvy road, highway, etc. I just had to have it back before the dealership closed. This was a Saturday. I bought it the next week. I just returned from a trip where I drove from Arkansas to Maryland and back. I have no regrets. The car performed fine in every respect, ride, comfort, mileage, etc. The automatic climate control is wonderful. I filled up in Cumberland, MD and stopped for the night in Morehead, Kentucky with still about a third of a tank of gas. I filled up when I left Morehead and had a third of a tank or so when I got home. I used the Honda Nav app that I downloaded to my IPhone as my GPS. I carried my regular GPS along just in case. The Honda Nav App was great. A $60.00 down load, an HDMI cable, a lightning adapter from Best Buy, and a USB charge cord for the IPhone to keep the phone charged and forget the regular GPS. It runs through the 7" display. I am extremely pleased with the HR-V, price, features, ride, everything. I had no problems in the mountains in West Virginia or Maryland. I mostly left it on economy the whole trip until I hit the mountains and then I turned it off for the the extra power. Car did fine.

Love it , but ? - 2016 Honda HR-V
By Jordan Greenberg - December 1 - 5:35 pmI got a horrible speeding ticket because it is harder to see the speedometer clearly than other cars i have driven. I believe they need to consider a digital readout . Is that available ?

Fun, Perky, Efficient Urban SUV - 2016 Honda HR-V
By nolarobert - October 18 - 7:05 pmI just drove our new HR-V 400 miles on the Interstate. It has plenty of technology, a peppy engine, that cool Honda Magic interior and it looks sharp. The CVT takes getting used to as I have never owned one before. I would punch it and it would respond well but it just felt different. I got 31 MPG on the highway but the HR-V is brand new and I tend to drive fast. It handled the highway well even during the thunderstorms I encountered on my trip. So initially, it feels solid, well-built and capable. Well see how I feel 10,000 miles from now.
