Daughter s first big purchase - 2016 Honda HR-V
By Rena - August 18 - 12:17 pmThis car is perfect for a single active person or a couple with only one child. The front seats are great. An adult man can sit comfortably in the driver or passengers seat. The back seat is designed well so a tall item can sit upright with the removal of it. A huge plus for moving storage boxes, plants, or Great Dane. The gas mileage is superb close to 28-32 in the city.

Achy Breaky? - 2016 Honda HR-V
By Pam B - June 29 - 2:52 amI love the utility and styling of the HRV. The seats are the most uncomfortable that I have ever sat in. You could use these as instruments of torture to get information from terrorists. I have to bring to dealer for service after only 3 weeks as pooling water under front passengers seat. I am considering trading or selling outright as has caused me to have sciatica. I think it would be a good vehicle if you do not drive long distances.

21st Century luxury - 2016 Honda HR-V
By Sandy R - June 6 - 12:49 amI wanted to drive my HR for a while before I wrote a review. Lets start with my needs. To begin with, the last time I bought a car was 1998 so things have changed a lot - USB ports, backup cameras, push button start, heated seats. I love it all. I was looking for a car that would fit in my garage so it had to be less than 175 inches long. I wanted AWD because I will be moving to Denver in a few years when I retire. I also wanted cargo space for trips to Home Depot. I wanted leather seats. They last longer and its easier to get in & out of the car. I promised my son I would get 4 doors this time because it was difficult to get my grandsons car seat in and out of my old car. The HR met all my needs and then some. The only problem I had was with the drivers seat. Im short and my specific back issue needs the seat straight up, not tilted back. That caused the headrest to tilt too far forward. I took the head rest completely off, but that didnt give my neck any support. I finally put the headrest back on, but backwards. Now its perfect. (short people problems!) Sometimes I think this car is so automatic, I could take a nap on my way to work. The headlights are set to automatic, the temperature is set to stay the same all year round. The audio plays my MP3 player, and my Android phone is synced up. In short Im very satisfied with my choice. It truly is 21st century luxury.

Do your homework before you buy an hrv! - 2016 Honda HR-V
By Doug - June 4 - 12:34 pmAfter buying several new cars (luxury included), I thought that I was a faithful honda customer (the last 3 new cars Ive bought have been Hondas), but this HRV has changed my opinion about Honda. Shortly after I bought it, the hrv started shaking and rattling so bad that its embarrassing to drive with passengers in the car. Ive never driven a car that does this, let alone a brand new 2016! I took it to the dealership who told me to leave it for at least 6 hours and theyd try to figure out what is making all of the noise. Since no other customers had compained to the service dept about their Hrvs yet (I was the 2nd person to buy an Hrv at that dealership), they didnt know where to even start on mine. I didnt have an extra 6+ hours to waste that day, so Im planning to have the shaking and rattling diagnosed when I go in for my first oil change. My Hrv is making lots of noise from the front drivers side wheel well and the rear passenger door panel. It also creeks and squeeks when it goes over speedbumps or up a curb to go into my driveway. It was soo bad that a Co worker who wanted an Hrv like mine went to lunch with me in my car and changed his mind after riding in it. He ended up buying a Subaru. I dont blame him. None of this happened on the test drive, obviously, or I wouldnt have purchased it. This all started happening within the first month of ownership though. Maybe I got a lemon, but if the rest of the new Hrvs are like mine, Honda has seriously dropped the ball with their longstanding tradition of quality when it comes to the Hrv. This is is the only new car that Ive ever regretted buying. Not what I expected from Honda and Im greatly disappointed.

Disappointed with Honda - 2016 Honda HR-V
By Emily - April 22 - 9:19 amI love the style, like the drive BIGGEST problem.. Making a roaring sound while going up hills. Almost like vibration. Honda claimed it was a heat shield they fixed it & we are still having problems. Obviously wasnt a heat shield. Not happy.

overall a good car, but some compromises - 2016 Honda HR-V
By T. Hart - March 14 - 11:37 amI finally ended up with this car after going back and forth between the Subaru Crosstrek and Honda CR-V. Keep in mind this is a $19k (starting) car based off of the Fit. Interior quality is OK. Looks nice but lots of hard plastic, fabric doors on LX/EX trims (picks up dirt very easily), every panel flexes when you push it. Ergonomics are a bit weird: armrests are low and short and essentially useless. Seat bottoms are a bit short and theres no adjustable lumbar. Because the gas tank is under the front seats, it limits the adjustability. Passenger gets no height adjustment. However, there is plenty of space for passengers - check out the rear legroom! Gauges are nice, screen is easy to see in most conditions, the touchscreen HVAC is not my favorite - hard to use while driving - but looks nice and is responsive. I love the lighted vanity mirrors and the ability to slide them to block more of the sun. A/C and heat are fine. A/C will suffer in ECO mode for those in very hot climates. Seat warmers could be a bit hotter (I got used to the ON FIRE levels of German cars haha) but overall are fine. Tech is good enough. Spotify is not supported (only Pandora), so sometimes the song info doesnt show up from my iPhone. Audio quality in general is okay - typical Honda (mediocre). Bluetooth is easy to set up and sound quality is very clear! Everything is easy to use and I experience very few glitches. I love the backup camera and lanewatch is a must have! One MAJOR problem I have is with the safety ratings: check out the IIHS side impact test. Not sure what Honda was doing/thinking there... NVH is a bit poor IMO. The car is very rough over bumps and road imperfections. Noise levels are okay in the city but on the fwy at high speeds the wind noise is a bit much. Nothing crazy but Honda could do a little better. This car is AMAZING in the city. Its small, easy to park, maneuverable, gets good MPG, is peppy and handles well. I use it for Home Depot, IKEA, etc. trips and it has had the space for everything and then some. Magic seats are Honda at its best - I was able to shove a 55" TV (in the box) behind the front seats with the magic seats up! MPG is great!!! Driving conservatively on the hwy - 65mph - will get you about 40mpg. CVT is very relaxing, no lurching or shifting like traditional autos. I do not hear any "buzz" from the engine. Aggressive drivers will need to plan ahead if coming from a faster car - the HR-V is not "slow" in general driving but this is not a Ferrari or even a BMW. Cant be making split-second lane changes etc. Overall, if you understand the limitations this car is a good little CUV. Perfect for first-time drivers, older drivers, or those looking for more hauling capabilities in cramped cities. For ~$22k (EX CVT trim) its a great package.

Nice little car with a few shortcomings - 2016 Honda HR-V
By Jay schickling - February 24 - 6:19 amI was coming from an 07 rav 4 with 2 wheel drive. I have bounced back and forth between compact vehicles to SUVs. I was looking for the fuel economy of a smaller vehicle, with the safety and AWD options of an SUV. Aside from Subarus, the options were scarce. Im disappointed Toyota doesnt have an option, and was excited about the upcoming Toyota CHR, but after learning it will not have an AWD drivetrain, it didnt meet my criteria. (Im not sure why Toyota would do that). I also considered Mazdas cx-3 which looked promising on paper, but it had a very hatchback feel and drove extremely low to the ground. I found the HRV to have the best blend of what I was looking for and is the first vehicle Ive seen that truly "feels" like a small SUV inside of its cabin, but offers the drive-ability and fuel economy of a compact sedan. The cabin has plenty of space and feels like my RAV4, but it handles like a car and has very responsive steering. No issues with traction of AWD which are requisites in a north-eastern climate. The vehicles continuously variable transmission takes a little while to get used to, and its admittedly under-powered. I didnt find it straining to accelerate on the highway or anything highly noticeable, but its not peppy. The cabin noise was less than my RAV-4 and Im hoping that doesnt change as the vehicle ages. The stock soundsystem and screen in the LX model are garbage and I will replace with an aftermarket headunit and integrate the factory back up camera and steering controls into that unit. Overall Im satisfied with the vehicle, its pretty much what I expected it to be, and was the only option on the market I found to meet all of my criteria to some degree. My biggest disappointment was the factory warranty being slightly shorter than industry standard, and the dealer trying to push a third party warranty from zurich. Im guessing with Hondas reputation for reliability, the warranty is less of a concern from the manufacturers side. I cant yet speak to reliability or cost of ownership.

Adequate car after 2005 Priius - 2016 Honda HR-V
By John W - December 30 - 6:53 amThe outside is good, the handling is good, the controls (layout) could be better (do not hide the climate controls behind the gear shift), and the multi-function display has no problems that rewriting the software (user interface) couldnt fix. I have to reach around the gear shift to adjust climate control, and the controls have no dimples, so I have to look at the controls (away from the road) to adjust (no buttons on the steering wheel for climate). When starting the HRV, the radio (multifunction display) the display does not go to the last screen I had displayed when I shut down; every time I start the car I have to press additional buttons to get back to the useable radio display - attention to detail is important guys...

"Honda".... What is there to think about!! - 2016 Honda HR-V
By natalie ewing - December 25 - 11:53 amI love my new car!! It has such a quiet interior. It just handles so effortlessly. The turning radius is amazing! It feels good to purchase a Honda knowing it has an amazing resale value as well.
