  • HR-V--OVERALL GOOD BUT... - 2016 Honda HR-V
    By -

Good overall value. Interior space and layout good. My LX model has fewer tech features, just essential items, nothing fancy, no sunroof to leak, etc. Suspension needs improvement. Ride on delivery date was very rough and bouncy. Ride home was about 25 mi, let tires cool overnite, found tire press to be 35 psi on all tires. Placard reads 32psi front, 30 psi rear. Reset tire press and ride improved slightly. Still too rough riding for a new car. Leased my suv 7/21/16, has 2000 mi as of 11/19/16. Currently, ride seems to be a little smoother, but still too rough/bouncy for a new car. Air cond seems under powered, cools but slowly and takes awhile to really cool car. I live in Hawaii and local temp is on avg- < 90 degrees. Tires are Michelins, which ride rough and are a little noisy at freeway speeds < 60 mph. I want to replace the michelins with goodyears for a smoother ride but its a lease car (3yrs/36,000 mi) so no sense buying another set of tires. However, if I had "Bought" the car, I definitely would sell the Michelins and get some Goodyears. After reading several buyer reviews about other service issues, poor dealer response, etc., I am glad I only have to deal with possible probs for 3 yrs, then turn in the car at lease end. Overall, the hr-v is a good value except for the poor ride. With my low expected annual mileage, I may not experience the range of issues reported by other owners. I did get an "Excess wear/tear" warr to cover me when I turn in the suv. I definitely would look at the mitsubishi outlander as a replacement suv. So, I hope I dont have probs or service issues like other owners. If things change, I will definitely update this review. So far, no probs. Perhaps a 3-yr lease/rtn is best. Keeping my fingers crossed for no probs!!

  • Its a great all around vehicle - 2016 Honda HR-V

Hi, the new Honda HRV is a great value, for a little under 20k, you just cant expect more. My girlfriend has a 2015 Subaru Forester, it has more comfortable seats, its quieter, it has more acceleration, the all around quality is better, its a $32k vehicle and it shows. Well take that on the longer road trips, but the Honda H-RV is a lot of bang for the buck, a great commuter vehicle, which is what I use it for. The 1.8L 4 cylinder engine is very smooth and delivers plenty of power, and 37 mpg on the road. I bought a 2001 Honda CRV for about the same price the 2016 HRV goes for, and 15 yrs later, the H-RV is a better vehicle than the 2001 CRV was. I just gave the 2001 Honda CRV to my son who is in college, 208k miles and runs like a top. If you want a great ride, buy a more exp vehicle, but the HRV is a very good vehicle. To borrow a line - Its great for what it is.

  • Good little car - 2016 Honda HR-V

I have owned a 2010 CR-V and a 2010 Fit and find the 2016 HR-V to be somewhere in the middle. Gas mileage has been fantastic, around town I get 35mpg and on commutes where I stay near 50mph, I routinely get 40 mpg. With great gas mileage comes some tradeoffs - the car is made out of lighter materials that you have take care not to abuse. The ride and handling are above average but I do notice a rougher ride than my CR-V. I miss the elevated driving position that I had with my CR-V but am getting used to the HR-V. I have not found a problem with the seats - they are comfortable and have not experienced any back problems. The entertainment system works well but I have had problems with Blue Tooth and my iPhone. I have had to reset the entertainment system to its factory setting to keep the car from randomly dialing numbers on my phone. The reason I keep buying Hondas (this is my 8th Honda in 20 years) is that they are extremely reliable (under 100,000 miles) and I have not had any major repairs to any of my vehicles. The only minor complaint I have is the noise coming from the engine compartment when I travel around 45mph (~1500 RPM). I hear a noise that results from a vibration or resonance that may come from the thin sheet metal shields around the exhaust system or firewall. It sounds like a bunch of bees are in the engine compartment. You get used to it over time but it is still a minor nuisance. I was also wondering if this was related to road noise coming from the tires. I had tire road noise with the factory tires on my CR-V and when I changed them the noise went away. In retrospect if I had to choose all over again between a CR-V and HR-V, I think I would go with the CR-V due to its larger cargo capacity and smoother ride.

  • Fine under 73mph - 2016 Honda HR-V
    By -

I cant speak for the rest of the HRV line, but I bought my 2016 HRV LX AWD 6 weeks ago and like it very much...except when I get on the freeway and drive it 73 mph or over. It goes from a solid , smooth driving car to one that vibrates excessively. I took it into Racine Honda after 5 days and complained about it. They took it out for a "test drive" and the "service guy" said he didnt feel any vibration and suggested that it was a new car, tight suspension, etc etc. Car was fine in his opinion. Bottom line, not looking forward to any long roadtrips with this car:(

  • Moving up from a Fit - 2016 Honda HR-V
    By -

I purchased a Fit sport in 2009, and its been a fantastic car. Excellent gas mileage, incredible cargo space given its external size, great handling, especially on mountain roads, and typical Honda reliability. At 104,000 miles, it has had one repair, a recharge of the A/C system 16 months ago. All that said, a Fit is a noisy car with a ride more like a sports car — you hear and feel every bump. Despite a lot of new features, the 2015 Fit didnt excite me, mostly because of the horrible CVT, and less cargo room. Thank goodness I waited until summer 2015 to pick up a HR-V. Adjusted for inflation, the EX model costs very little than a 2009 Fit Sport, but is a huge improvement. Its better in almost every way, quieter, more comfortable, stronger performance, better sound system, far better A/C, heated seats, moonroof, and the side and rear view cameras, which are more useful than I expected, plus "just enough" extra space, without adding excessively to exterior dimensions. About the only place where the 2009 Fit bests the HR-V is the dash mounted cup holders, which are very convenient. Living in the hot and sunny south, the improvements in the HR-V A/C system are greatly appreciated. The Fit A/C is adequate up to 95° in constant conditions, but it takes a while to cool down. In contrast, the HR-V climate control system is both more powerful and quieter, and gets a hot car down to a comfortable level in a matter of minutes. Unfortunately, the front seats are no better. They arent bad, but I have had better. I have only had the car for 24 hours, and already have put a mesh lumbar support on the drivers side, the same one that I used on the Fit. Seats are very personal, so what works for one person may be torture for another. The HR-V seats are "good enough" but could be improved. Between the adjustable seat height and telescoping/tilting steering wheel, it should be possible for almost anybody to find a good seating position, but even a perfect position cant compensate for a hard, flat cushion and too little lumbar support. The HR-V is an extremely versatile car. Number 2 on our short list was the new Mazda CX-3, which probably offers a better drive experience, but the screen sticking up from the middle of the dash, and much smaller cargo space made it a non-contender, even without a test drive. As of summer 2015, HR-Vs are in extremely short supply; we waited 5 weeks before getting the one we wanted, and were pleasantly surprised that the dealer offered a significant discount off the MSRP was a pleasant surprise. Overall, I am very pleased with the HR-V; no car is perfect, but at this price point, the HR-V comes pretty close.

  • Economical crossover - 2016 Honda HR-V

Easy to handle, wished it was more android friendly. Fortunately, I have a Nexus 6 P phone and took a bit of time to initially pairing it to the HRV but it did pair, has phone contacts, Pandora. Can say the name and it calls the person. Im happy with the HRV. I wanted a smaller SUV, and this is it.

  • Acceleration is Horrible - 2016 Honda HR-V

Im really disappointed in the HR-Vs acceleration - I have been waiting for well over 6 months for this vehicle to arrive in New Hampshire .... Im so disappointed, my 2001 Honda Civic EX accelerates faster than this vehicle. -not sure what Im going to do for a vehicle now considering Ive had my heart set on this for almost a year

  • HR-V not worth it - 2016 Honda HR-V
    By -

I bought a 2016 HR-V in December 2015. I drove it for 18 months and put 30,000 miles on it. This car is a big rattle trap! Driver seat squeaking, rattles from the rear end, rattles from the dash, rattles from the sunroof, and several more that I care not to get into. It didnt matter if the road was smooth or bumpy, the issues were prevalent. I finally had enough and traded it for a 2017 Honda Civic EX-T Coupe. I figured that since my daughter has a 2016 Civic EX-T sedan since December 2015 with excellent gas mileage and no issues, I would give the Civic a try. So far, I LOVE IT!
