  • Road Noise! - 2016 Honda HR-V
    By -

I really wanted to get this car. Very practical! Amazing seats that fold up! Great for the city with decent miles. I test drove this car three times. The road noise is unbearable. If you are stuck in rush hour with this car you will have serious headaches. I am not sure if its the CVT or just engine noise. The interior is very nice and i like the way it looks over the CRV. I have owned honda cars forever and this CVT/Engine noise is going to have me looking at other car makers. I am going to hold off for the 2017 to see if they fix these issues.

I just changed a toque converter @5800 miles because it shake when I park for red light. After changing the toque converter, it improve. However, I also found that when I hit the break from 40 rpm to 10 rpm, and then accelerate from 10 to 20, 25 rpm, the car (engine) almost stop and you can feel that the something switch between 10 to 20 rpm. Is this right? It bothers me a lot. Another issue of this car is windows. All windows feel loose a little bit. You can shake the windows when they are down 1/2 of windows.

Was excited about this car. I went for a test drive which was ok. The car had some limitations that surprised me. The side mirrors on the EX only fold in part way, manually. The seats are manual. Hard to locate the charging area. Think I will wait another year so they can work out the kinks.

  • What a move fro a low riding sports car to an SUV - 2016 Honda HR-V

I had owned a sports car for almost 10 years but as my 66th birthday loomed it was getting harder and harder to get out without difficulty. My son, who is an avid Honda fan and owner, had done his homework and highly recommended this model for me. It was love at first ride....so much easier to get in & out of and I was surprised that, even though it was beefier than my Mazda, it takes up less space in my garage. New rides always take a while to get used to but so far Im enjoying every moment. My small dog always loved to stand between the seats with her front feet on the console. Now she feels like a queen so high up. I was worried about her scratching the leather console but a neoprene sleeve fits perfect over the lid. Looking forward to many adventures in my new HR-V

Overall the HRV is an okay vehicle. Minor issues, the key-less entry on the drivers side only opens the drivers side, the passengers side opens all door. I was told by Hondas dealership that this is a safety issue (Thats B.S. because if the passenger side opens all of the doors isnt that just as unsafe)? 2nd issue, if you receive Hondas factory remote start, Honda only gives 1 remote for the remote start, in addition, you have to carry the key-fob and the remote start controller. 3rd issue, you/ your passenger does not have the ability to view HDMI/ change bluetooth settings, because of "safety" again. (Come on give me a break we are over doing this safety clause, you are already warned every time you start the vehicle, in fact when the lane view switches back and forth, that is much more distracting than changing bluetooth settings in traffic). 4th issue, limitation bluetooth selection, my Samsung tablet cannot connect to the bluetooth, it is only for phones, or that what my display states. 5th issue, no options for additions, power seats, doors (tail gate), etc.

Not much space in front for purse or other articles. Very difficult to close rear cargo door.

  • DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE YOU BUY!!!! - 2016 Honda HR-V

This purchase has been a huge disappointment for me! Has hardly any power when accelerating uphill. Tape from factory put marks all over it. When they did the rustproofing they scratched the driver side fender up to hood of SUV, it had to be buffed out which I thought the whole hood of the vehicle was going to dent in. Its as if its made out of tin! Notice NO CARPETING!!!! Really Honda? For 23,000!!!! No navigation system, doesnt sync with android, radio doesnt tell you what song is playing its generic. Has bluetooth wow! Never buying another Honda again! You pay out the butt for nothing worthwhile, very very basic generic SUV!

  • Honda got it right with the HR-V - 2016 Honda HR-V

After one year, my comments after one month still apply: Subcompact exterior, SUV interior, very good acceleration and performance and fun to drive with 6 speed manual transmission, a true value for a quality car with tremendous versatility, LX well equipped and easy to figure out audio and controls - preferred it to the EX. Look forward to driving this car for many years.

this is my first car and I absolutely love it! its great having a safe car that will last me into my adult years too. the bluetooth is great because I can call people or change music without taking my hands off the wheel or eyes off the road.
