In a Rollover accident with my HRV - 2016 Honda HR-V
By Jaime - April 13 - 6:55 amTHIS CAR SAVED MY FAMILIES LIVES!!!!! On 10/10/15 I was t-boned by a Toyota Tundra. I had 3 children in the back seat, ages 10, 8 and 7. The 8 year old boy was my neighbor. We were on our way to a pumpkin patch. The Tundra hit my passengers side door bending the frame of the car. My 7 yr old daughter was sitting behind the passengers seat. Shes alive and ok! The impact was so hard it took the passengers side wheels off the ground. Just riding on 2 wheels, we ran off the road into a ditch, coming up and out of the ditch the car rolled over on the drivers side then landed on the roof. When it stopped the rear of the car was completely off the ground. The hood and windshield was not visible from outside. It was all on the ground. Every airbag deployed and everything this car was designed to do, it did! We were all able to crawl out of the vehicle and walk to the ambulance, walk into the hospital and walk out of the hospital. None of us had head injuries, major neck injuries or broken bones. We were able walk away with just some bruises and soreness. I was asked by paramedics, police, nurses and doctors over and over and over again "What kind of car were you driving?". Prior to the accident, I was in love with this car!!! I plan on buying another one as soon as I get the check from the insurance company! My kids are alive after a horrific accident. What more could you need or want in a car???

Great Car and excellent value. - 2016 Honda HR-V
By Hideki Hara - April 4 - 10:17 amShop around from different dealers. I only found Anderson Honda in Palo Alto who offered a price under sticker. George was the best sales person there and there was no pressure to purchase anything additional. I knew the price of the car prior to stepping in to the dealer showroom. Most other dealers charged sticker claiming that this car was "hot" and was in demand and therefore no discount off sticker price. Had its oil changed on Friday and service noted missing coolent cap on resevoir. Odd thing to be missing from a new car?

Dont buy a Honda Hr-V - 2016 Honda HR-V
By Ilene - March 31 - 10:43 pmHad the car for 8 months, 11,000 miles. All of a sudden the battery light went on and a warning to check the charging system came on. Took it to the dealer. They said there was a malfunction in the censor but the car was fine. Two days later I was driving home and the whole car died!! Nothing light up, nothing works, steering wheel wont turn. This is the worst car I have ever owned. Will never buy a honda again!

Defect - 2016 Honda HR-V
By Zoe deYoe - March 15 - 12:13 pmLove this car, very satisfying all the way around. Im older, in Michigan; I love how it goes in the snow and how much more practical it is, and easier to get in and out of, than my sedan. Big defect though going over tarstrips and bumps while braking sometimes--a kick back, knock, clunk . . . not so much a noise as a feeling in the pedal like dropping a tray of tools, kind of mechanical take-up or loose assembly coming under tension (hard to describe). Took it in right after new and they found nothing; clunking persisted; wrote Honda in case there was a known problem; they said take it back to shop; shop couldnt find anything; wrote to Honda to report shop couldnt fix and said Id monitor it for six weeks and report; no reply; six weeks are about up and have had many significant occurrences; will report to Honda. What will they do? They say three times they cant fix it, its lemon. Do they take my word for it? Will they have an engineer keep it a while? Do they have some way to resolve this defective mechanical problem? The car is a joy but dealing with this complication sure has taken a lot of joy out of ownership of a brand new car. UPDATE: I worked closely with Honda America but they explained a Catch-22 of HRV ownership: They do not diagnose defects that their computer program doesnt recognize. Thus defects such as the brake kick back problem found in many HRVs are acknowledged as existing but not addressed or covered, and owners simply "got a bad one." Honda urges owners of such defective HRVs to keep an eye open for recalls--indicating they have developed repair protocols.

Great Car - 2016 Honda HR-V
By Joseph - January 23 - 9:27 pmI have had my HRV - EXL for a week now and I absolutely love it. After reading reviews and articles about the HRV for over six months, I finally found a Black EXL for sale and purchased it. Buying a car is a very personal thing, but here is my experience with my HRV so far. I was looking for a car with good gas mileage and lots of storage, as I am a musician and gig out quite a bit. The HRV had more space than any other car in its class, and if you test drive it and compare it to other cars, this quickly becomes apparent. It also means the back seat ride is way more comfortable for passengers than the Nissan Juke or Mazda 3, which might matter if you have kids. Acceleration. Every review seems to mention its poor acceleration. My experience is its not bad. This is not a race car, so I didnt have the expectation that it would drive like one. Around town you have plenty of power, and even merging on the highway you have all you need. Dont worry about this. If Honda wanted to give it a few more horses I wouldnt complain, but had reviews not mentioned acceleration I wouldnt have thought twice about it when test driving it. The overall handling of the car I think is amazing, especially for its price tag. It responds well to turning and its turning radius is very good. Personally, I enjoy that it drives more like a car than an SUV. I find the car extremely comfortable to sit in and drive. Full disclosure I am not a big person. 58" and average build, I weigh 148lbs. I think if you were 6 tall this car might start getting snug, but so would most cars in this class. You might just want to look at the CRV. Another area that the HRV seems to get complaints is in the touch control climate/entertainment console. When I first got the car, it did bother me a bit. Not knowing where everything was meant looking down and trying to figure it all out. However, after a week with it, using the touchscreen climate and radio controls becomes second nature and I enjoy the tech look of it. Admittedly I am a technophile. Reading other reviews, it seems many of those purchasing this car might have been older, so figuring this all out might have been more of a nuisance for them. I have two minor complaints though. First, you cant use apple CarPlay with the this car, which lets you use Apple maps for navigation instead of Hondas Nav. Its not that big a deal because I can Bluetooth my phone and have my phone give me directions still. But it would be nice to mirror it on the big Honda display. Honda nav is sufficient, but not great. Truth be told though, I did not buy the EXl for the Navigation. I bought it for the leather seats, and let me tell you that in my opinion it was worth every penny. The interior EXL just feels high class, and looks it too. I have a feeling it will withstand the test of time much better, and is much easier to clean than the fabric. I also find the firmer leather seats to be more comfortable than the fabric seats. Since I wil be road tripping in this car a lot that is very important. So far I have been averaging 32mpg under mixed highway/city driving. Personally I have grown to really like the lane watch camera. It is very helpful in changing lanes in high traffic atlanta, and you can turn it on even if your turn signal isnt on, which can be helpful during high traffic times. A small feature that I personally love is the brake hold. Turn it on and when the car stops you dont have to keep your foot on the break. This is also amazing in rush hour traffic and in some other instances. All in all I truly love this car. As I drive it more I will update this review, but Honda hit a home run in my opinion. Ive had a 2002 Civix EX, a 2006 Element EX, a Nissan 350z Convertible, and so far this is my favors car overall, hands down. If you can afford it upgrade to the leather, its so worth it. Even fully loaded its not an expensive car. I look forward to getting up and driving this car every day. I cant wait to go on some camping / road trip adventures in this wonderful car.

HR-V Not Quite Up To Honda Standards - 2016 Honda HR-V
By gwm907@gmail.com - January 8 - 2:47 pmI have had the HR-V for nearly two months. Have driven about 3000 miles including a road trip to Chicago. Overall satisfied but certainly not blown away. The car handles fine but the engine is clearly not powerful enough. Acceleration is an effort especially from a running start (ie: doing 60 mph and want to pass someone). The miles per gallon is a disappointment especially around town. I am getting about 32 mpg on long highway trips but less than 15 mpg around town. My previous car was a Honda Accord on which I regularly got 40 mpg highway and 30 around town. The range on a tank of gas is not good. A full tank registers about a 360 mile range so I find myself having to gas up more often than I had become accustomed to. The Accord registered 600+ mile range on a tank of gas. On the positive side The HR-V handles well and has a nice amount of storage space. The location of the charging outlets, however, is inconvenient. The technology package is ok. Overall I rate the vehicle as a 3 out of 5. Not bad but not great. I would not consider purchasing another HR-V although I would consider other Honda models.

some issues - 2016 Honda HR-V
By Dan - December 1 - 5:42 pmHave had my HRV back to the dealer twice during my first two months of ownership. Check engine light and parking brake light came on and wouldnt go off until a few days passed, then the cycle returned. First time they replaced no.2 O2 sensor, problem returned. This time, wiring harness and starter motor replaced- fingers crossed.

Hrv great family car - 2016 Honda HR-V
By Matthew Lewis - November 21 - 6:43 amIt does not support android auto. Which was a huge minus. However it does have Pandora sync available. The acceleration is a bit slow but when city driving its quick.
