Disappointed - 2016 Honda HR-V
By Cheryl Cote - February 26 - 7:41 pmThe performance for the car is great, but I was totally disappointed in one area. My HRV is suppose to have voice activation regarding mobile phone usage. When I couldnt get this feature to work, even after my sales person to hook it up, I called Honda. They told me that the voice activation works with I phones and a limited no. of androids. A lot of consumers, including myself, have android phones. I feel that listing this as a feature is very misleading. I use to have a Honda Fit and had no issues with the voice activation system. I am very disappointed and feel that I was deceived.

Base model with 6-speed manual - 2016 Honda HR-V
By mike hausner - January 23 - 5:02 pmWe wanted a car that we could tow behind our RV. That said we chose the HR-V with the manual transmission over the CTV automatic. From a re-sale stand point this may not be a good choice....But I am having too much fun driving this car to care! The gearbox is easy to shift even though I have never had a "6-speed". When in traffic I sometimes skip a gear, like go from first to third to fifth and sixth. The engine has good torque down low so as long as you are not giving it a lot of gas it doesnt care. The cornering ability is great too. It corners like its on rails. I told you I was having fun with this car. On top of all that its getting over 31 MPG in combined city / highway driving. The other thing that amazed me was the interior space. It is tight without being cramped. I am 6-1" and 275 pounds so getting in and out of some cars can be difficult for my 70+ year old bones. However I can easily get in the front or back seat and have plenty of head room. The EX and EX-L models have a sunroof which takes away some headroom so I opted for the LX model. It is easier to get in and out of than the Honda Odessey I traded in. The cargo space is very good for a car this size and with the rear seats folded flat its even bigger. From the outside it looks more like a sport coupe than a 4-door SUV/Crossover. Most people dont realize it is a four door because the rear door latch is semi-hidden in the C pillar. All in all I really like this car!

Love this car! - 2016 Honda HR-V
By Joanne Yaworsky - January 23 - 3:07 pmI had a 2013 Mazda 3 which I loved for the first 2 years (of my 3 year lease), but this last year was ready for something new as it was terrible in the winter as I didnt have snow tires. I was hoping to love the new Mazda CX-3 and while its gotten rave reviews all around, I hate the interior dash design with its center tachometer and popup information center that to me looks like one of those navigation units you plop on the dash yourself. And, it was even smaller than my Mazda 3. I wanted an SUV AWD type vehicle and have looked for the last year. For me, having a sunroof is a necessity, and most cars with them were in at least the $26,000-$28,000 range. I got the Honda HR-V EX AWD without navigation or leather for $24,000...its got everything else. Didnt want to spend the extra money for those features as I can use my iPhone for navigation. Ive only had it a week but absolutely love it. For me, its the perfect fit... size, style, features, price. It is a bit noisier than my Mazda 3 but I expected it to be noisier because of it being a crossover vehicle. Its just under $1,000 more than my Mazda 3 was and has so much more. I had a 2000 Honda Accord EX and 1991 Honda Prelude before the Mazda, so have been happy with Honda purchases in the past. The touch screen is fine with me, was worried it wouldnt be while wearing gloves. I also like that I have 5 options for the color of the dash touchscreen lighting! The console compartment could be bigger.. someone complained about it not fitting CDs, at least it has a CD player. I was told that Jeeps no longer offer them. I use my iPod anyway or bluetooth streaming from my iPhone. I was a little confused on the HondaLink, I wont purchase the cables for $99 since I dont have navigation. Upon researching all the HondaLink apps that you can download, on the Next Generation link, they do tell you that one of the apps available is for navigation for $59.99 off of iTunes. Reading reviews from the App store on it, most people seemed less than satisfied so I will stay with what comes free without the cables or navigation app (which you need the cables for). Bluetooth will suit me fine for music, and Google Maps will suit me fine for navigation. Someone said it didnt have carpeting.. honestly, I never noticed as the car mats cover most of the floor surfaces.. its still a felt type material underneath. Didnt notice what my last car had but mats were substandard compared to these. Im a happy customer! UPDATE: I was asked to update my review and am here to report that Im still a happy customer. Im glad to update this though, as I wanted to comment on the recent news story about bad ratings for headlights on all SUV/Crossover vehicles. I believe that the HR-V was ranked as #1 as the worst, and I was dumbfounded. I found a video on Roadshow Weekly that compared a good headlight experience with a bad one (presumably the HR-V). It showed driving around curves on a dark winding road with no streetlights. A few days after seeing the video, I drove down such a road and had NO problems as outlined in that article. I signed up so that I could comment on my disagreement with their findings. I have found the headlights to be excellent in all conditions, and this is something that could be a deal breaker for someone considering purchasing this car. The only thing I noticed was that I was leaving a friends camp and going uphill on a bumpy dirt road for a short distance, and the headlights were jumping a bit. This is something that would happen with any car. Again, great visibility in all conditions. Great ride, great features, roomy, I will get the same car again when the lease on this expires.

Another Great One From Honda - 2016 Honda HR-V
By CJ Mund - January 9 - 6:12 amI had a 2011 CR-V and thought about trading it in for Crosstour. Im glad that I waited, because I purchased the HR-V this year, and it is a classic Honda vehicle. The thing I love about the HR-V, other than its roominess, is the fact that it actually feels beefy. I was not expecting to sit up so high, but there really is pretty good clearance on this thing. We also own a Fit, and there is considerable height difference in the two. I recently drove it in downtown Seattle, and the thing can turn on a dime. The handling and the drive are wonderful. The Fit has such bad road noise, so I was hoping the HR-V wouldnt follow suite, and it doesnt. Its very quite at 70 and even 75 mph. I have been getting about 33 mph on my commute to and from work. Overall, I love this car. I dont see too many of them on the road yet, so a lot of people will stop and ask me what kind of car it is. Love it.

Bang for the buck with Honda reliability - 2016 Honda HR-V
By Jim T - December 22 - 3:11 amI needed a vehicle with smart packaging, hatchback utility, reasonable fuel economy, and upmost reliability. I work as an automotive instructor and consultant, having experienced the "ins and outs" of the major car companies, it didnt take me long to narrow down my choices to Honda, Mazda, and Toyota. I would have considered Acura and Lexus, yet the price jump for the premium brand is just not justifiable versus the features offered in the parent brands. The new HR-V is by no means perfect, yet there are so many great traits in this little Honda which make you forget about the minor flaws. For comparison, I came from an Accord Sport with the 6 speed manual- no race car- but still a reasonably quick car. I see many voice concerns about the HR-V as being slow (my salesman included), I have found the HR-V is by no means slow, it can get into it traffic and handle hills with ease. The CVT will manage engine rpm to keep efficiency and speed up to par. It should be noted that I typically leave the "ECO MODE" on and leave the transmission in "drive" versus "sport" mode- which greatly enhances throttle response. The AWD is a must for where we live deep in the hills of Massachusetts, I actually purchased Blizzak snow tires, making a proper snow handling evaluation impossible. In my professional opinion, the factory Michelin tires do not appear to be ideal for heavy snow conditions. I drive north to the mountains for snowboarding, making use of my snow tires. The interior of the HR-V is what makes it so special, the magic seat and hatchback combination are amazing and must be experienced to appreciate. There are so many combinations! We can carry the dogs, siblings or grandparents, and gear with ease. The heated cloth seats are holding up well and I was surprised to find that the passenger seat even has seat-back heating. The seat position takes some getting used to; the gas tank is located beneath the front seats under the car, making for a raised platform under the seats. The only interior complaint for me (being 511" guy who wears logging boots) is that the drivers dead-pedal is awkwardly close to the drivers seat, I like to stretch my legs out in a car.

First Honda - 2016 Honda HR-V
By John - October 19 - 8:49 amWe live in a rural area 10 miles to town and I am a very conservative driver, slow acceleration, coast to stoplights and stop signs and do not go over speed limits and I get 35.5 mpg average. We have only had this car a short time so rating may change later.
