  • Does everything I ask with no problems - 2009 Honda Fit

I bought my 09 Fit Sport MT new and have put +110k miles on with no repairs beyond preventative maintenance. The car has delivered on all the reasons that I purchased it for: very low cost of ownership, fun to drive, TONS of cargo space (with rear seats flat), and great mileage (38-40mpg). The car has handled west MI winters well, even before I purchased snow tires. Build quality has been good, although some plastic interior panels are beginning to get loose. I recommend switching from the stock tires as soon as they wear out. Overall, no complaints. The car has been a champ, and I expect it will continue to well past 200k.

  • Honda doesnt get "tall" - 2009 Honda Fit

Bought 2009 fit in 2011, have put on 45K miles. Am 63", visibility is difficult, due to rear view mirror, door frame in field of vision when making turns, reflection of dashboard on window. I have a piece of black carpet on dashboard to compensate. Uncomfortable due to non-telescoping steering wheel, head rest too far forward, back rest concave in the wrong place--need to use back support. Have to tilt steering down in order to see upper part of speedometer. After 45 minutes, seat is very, very uncomfortable. Hard to steer, always over correcting on winding roads, especially at 45 mph+, maybe due to placement of engine on front axis? Needed steering wheel cover to ease grip.

  • Good experiment - 2009 Honda Fit

I purchased the 2009 Fit Sport in 2011 with 44k miles on it. We were coming out of the recession, so I thought I would try a fuel efficient small car for my job, which is a lot of highway driving. A couple thoughts: The MPG meter exaggerated the gas mileage a bit. the meter read 36.6 over 10,000 miles, the calculator said 32.35 for the same time period. I had a black exterior and interior. The combination of the big black dash along with all the glass allowed a lot of heat in the car. The air conditioning is set to cycle the compressor on and off during driving to save fuel, made it very hard to keep cool on hot days. Added an official Honda center console, very much worth the money.

  • fan of the Fit - 2009 Honda Fit

My wife researched vehicles for two years before trading in her 01 Durango for the Fit Sport, and likes it better than any car shes had. Fuel economy is great-avg. 36 btw. TX and Vegas, driving 80-85. Rides fine, walks a bit. Better in town than hwy, only complaint-hard to get blonde hair out of upholstery. Took it camping, and were able to fit all our gear in it. Fun to drive, but Ive had to fix the front panel several times because she keeps backing over the curb on her way out of the driveway. Wish it had true intermittent wipers, but great sound system.

  • Could be better - 2009 Honda Fit

I wanted the Insight but the Fit was roomier and cheaper. I had to pay the extra for the sport of course as the base didnt have cruise or keyless entry. I like the styling, roominess and the magic seat. Reviewers have said the mpg calculator is optimistic to the tune of 2 or 3 mpg, yikes! that means Im only getting 26 mpg around town and I dont even have a lead foot so I cant really praise the fuel economy in my case. The thing that bugs me most about it is the low front clearance, my son pulled out of the drive and pulled out the front body panel. I was able to push most of it back in but it has popped back out several times since, when theres a dip in the road and now its all scraped

  • Great Commuter - 2009 Honda Fit
    By -

I test drove a Fiesta and ended up with the Fit. The main factor in favor of the Fit was that it feels like a much bigger car on the inside. The Fiesta hatchback is claustrophobic and is tough to see out the back window. The Fiesta is quieter and has more bells and whistles (Sync). But the Fit has a much more flexible interior. I drive 50/50 highway/city and so far am averaging about 36 mpg. Mostly use to commute but can also fit my (2) kids and all their soccer gear. With one rear seat folded down I fit 4, 6ft soccer goals inside. Manual Shifter is great, and IPod/USB integration is nice. Also I was able to buy it used at a great price while the Fiesta is still new.

with 2000 miles on it. Have driven for 4000 miles. Very bumpy plastic interior easy to scratch good room in the back. Big complaint is that the floor on the drivers side is cheap plastic and the rug keeps running up into the gas pedal! Put down heavier mat but doesnt help. Feel I need to merge into freeway traffic very carefully because of lack of power. OK gas mileage but the reader lies for sure. Our Matrix does as well or better and its a larger car with a better engine. Thinking about trading it in--big disappointment.

  • Nice Car - 2009 Honda Fit

If you want a 34 MPG Mixed driving car that has a ton of storage room then this car is for you. Low insurance, Great exterior styling, nice 5-gear auto. You are trading off a bunch of interior features like the steering wheel audio controls and overall interior quality. Also the tires on the 16" rim are very unusual so finding replacements = not a fun time with no enough options. I like the car for what it is. A to B daily commuter but as a real "car" that you should be proud of, it is definitely not.

  • Disappointed - 2009 Honda Fit

First Honda I have owned and am I disappointed. The ride is unacceptable in the northeast in the winter, you cannot even drink a coffee, not that there is good cup holder to put it in. The car wanders all over the freeway, it needs constant correction. It feels like the wind is blowing the car around when there is none. The headlights flicker randomly. The throttle raises just a little bit as you come to a stop. I am always stomping on the brake. The light indicator is behind the steering wheel. There is an annoying rattle in the dashboard in front of the steering wheel which goes away with the heater on. I have 3 tires leaking 6 to 10 lbs of air a month.I never noticed these on the demo model.

  • My fit at 18 months - 2009 Honda Fit
    By -

I love my Fit. I dont know why the mileage is listed at 29 mpg. I get 40 mpg, although a lot of my driving is on the highway. I was really surprised at the acceleration, given the mileage. It has great cargo options. The interior is holding up well given that I always have a couple of dogs with me. The only drawback to the Fit is that it gets blown around in high winds. I wish it had cruise control, other than that I am really pleased with my decision to buy the Fit.
