This Year's Model Updates:

The 2004 Honda Element lineup gets an LX model to slot between the existing DX and EX models. New equipment on EX models includes keyless entry, a passenger-seat armrest as standard, and bungee-cord fasteners on the driver-side front and rear seat backs.

Pros:
  • Impressively versatile interior, optional all-wheel drive, smooth four-cylinder engine, styled as if out of a Japanese animation movie.
Cons:
  • Only seats four, clamshell doors hinder entry/exit for rear-seat passengers.

  • Coolest Family Car - 2004 Honda Element

We owned a Land Rover before we bought the Honda Element and making that switch was one of the smartest moves weve made. Our neighbors and friends were quite shocked when we came home with it, once they saw the interior they couldnt believe all the room it had. We have two boys, 6 and 4 years old -it is a perfect car for kids if you want to be a cute, hip, outdoorsy type mom. For such a little thing we feel like we have twice the room as the Land Rover and over double the gas mileage. We love the water wash down floors, never any stains from the kids drinks or food. I told my 6 year old son when we bought it that we just bought his car-10 years from now.

I rarely like anything, but this car is the best purchase Ive made since my big screen TV. If you are looking for a vechicle that sits 4, can haul like a truck, and has honda-like mechanics, then buy this car; you wont regret it. I absoultely love my 2004 EX 2wd orange car w/ side airbags.

We love our Honda Element. My husband is a PIG!! Someone finally made a car for him. You can wash out the inside in a minute. You can put big, awkward, bulky things in the car with ease. Taking messy yard waste to the dump is easy now that we can clean the car so easily. He thinkshis car is really COOL and I think it is WONDERFUL and really CUTE. The backdoor business is a pain, but because of it you can get things in and out easily. It is a trade off. We dont ferry klds anymore so we dont care about it that much.It would not be convenient for dropping off kids. WE LOVE IT!!!! Thank you Honda for saving my marriage!!! N. Weber

We bought ours as a 2 yr old model with 26K miles. I named it The Earl-ament. We bought in preparing to have a more baby friendly car, that has some ground clearance in case of high water. We are very pleased with the vehicle. We wish we could find a slightly larger vehicle with the rest of the features that would help accommodate the stuff two little boys.

  • Great Car - 2004 Honda Element

This car is a great fun car that is kid friendly. My wife and I were looking for a new traveling vehicle and we zeroed in on the Element. It is roomy with lots of room for a 63" guy like myself and also lots of room in the back for 2 boys and car seats. It has great pick up and the brakes were better than expected. Almost a perfect car for a family of 4.

  • The best vehicle I ever owned - 2004 Honda Element

The Honda Element is versatile, reliable and fun to drive. The fuel economy is outstanding! I have a little import business, and all my goods from the warehouse can easily be in the Element. The back seats come in and out so easy, its a breeze! The sound system kicks, and my MP3 player connects via AUX at a click. My Orange Element gets a lot of attention on the street - in fact I daily answer questions from people who are considering buying an Element themselves. My advice is: Buy it! Ive had Dodge, Chrysler, Ford and various other Japanese cars. Never agagin. My only hope is that the Element will come in a 6-cylinder version. Then I will be one with the Element!

When I saw it I hated the color and thought it was the ugliest vehicle ever, then I drove it! It has so much room, it handles so smoothly, it drives so nicely! I love the way the seats fold up, the wipe-down surfaces, everything! I havent ever loved a vehicle until I bought my Element, its incredible!

  • Does Everything I Want! - 2004 Honda Element

Dont care that its a "box on wheels". This vehicle has been entirely functional and reliable since the day I bought it new. Hondas maintenance schedule is spartan. Get your oil changed and keep on truckin. I use it for my odd jobs around the village (painter, interior decorating, etc, with ladder!). The interior is virtually indestructable. I cant count how many times Ive had the back seats either layed flat, flipped up against the side walls, or completely taken out. Many a bag of mulch, dirt, or flats of flowers have made their way home in this fashion. Very well made, very decent gas mileage. Turns and parks on a dime. You oughta see the cool cabana tent accessory also.

  • Who says theyre for Gen X-ers only!? - 2004 Honda Element
    By -

I needed a car with better mileage that could still haul stuff if needed. Enter Element. Its engine is quite spry and handles the job more than adequately. It runs so quietly. At 80mph its almost silent. The inside is sparse, but thats fine by me. No center console, I assume because the subwoofer would be blasting onto it if there was one. This makes for no place to store small items, especially CDs. Otherwise the interior is quite functional. One problem with the side doors: If you park in a lot with a car on either side and you have to access the back seats, its quite difficult to open the front and back doors while standing between the two.

  • its ok - 2004 Honda Element

The only small suv I could fit in. I am 65. Good Honda quality, fairly cheap utility vehicle. Can carry lots of tools. Fairly harsh bumpy ride on back roads. Disappointing gas mileage for a 4 cyl. My old audi A6 got about the same 22mpg. I know 5 people that bought one and they are all over 50, so much for the youth appeal. Overall good transportation for New England winter roads. Probably not a family car.
