Model Overview:

Sold from 2003-'11, the Honda Element compact crossover SUV remains one of the most distinctive and practical vehicles on the road. Happy Element owners are often city dwellers who appreciate both its small size and generous 75-cubic-foot maximum cargo capacity. Another notable element about the Element is the ability of its access-style rear doors to pivot backward a full 90 degrees, providing unimpeded access to the roomy and creatively configurable rear seats.

A used Element of any vintage is easy to recommend thanks to its functional interior, smooth four-cylinder engine and carlike handling, not to mention Honda's reputation for reliability. That said, it's worthwhile to focus your search on 2007 and newer models, as they offer a bit more power and enhanced safety features.

We got the car in Feb this year as soon as they Came Out...we frequent the beach often, and my old car Toyota camery I had to vaccume out all the time this car I just sweeep and throw some armoral on to clean it. Perfect looks like new. Im 26 with two children 5 and 3 it is also perfect clean up car for them, messes dissapear fast. It drives well I have never had any problem and have about 15000+ miles on it. The only thing I dont love, just because I drive so often is gas milage, not the best coming from a Camery but its worth it in the end. I coulndt have picked a more perfect vehicle.

  • Much Better Than Originally Thought - 2005 Honda Element

I have the 2004 model, but in comparing the 04 w/th 05, I see little difference. I agree with the Edmunds PROs & CONs. I would really like to see an extended version of the Element made, but that would likely compromise its unique design. When I first started looking at the Element, I immediately thought "new-age ice cream truck". But as I got used to it and enjoyed its features, I honestly dont know what I would do without it now. Ive gone camping in it and didnt need to pitch a tent. Ive gone on long road trips and with family and have enjoyed the "stadium seating" from the backseat. I just wish it held 1 or 2 more people. It would be ideal for a small family in that respect.

Safe, fun, sporty, practical. Completly functional, but not a mini van. Ultimate vehicle for people with an active, or in my case, bicycling lifestyle.

  • The Element needs restructoring - 2004 Honda Element

stylish, but in the end i have found lousy brake system, poor gas mileage and the suspension system does not take bumps well. Tires on it are not responsive to the poor Pennysylvania roads. would not buy this car again or recommend it to be bought. Lousy performance for the money.

  • So glad I got my Element - 2004 Honda Element

I did a lot of homework and finally got my Element in April and it was worth every single test drive, review read and Consumer Report fax. This is one of the most comfortable and fun to drive vehicles I have owned. I am in the car a lot as I do home health and cover a 30-50 mile radius-and working out of this vehicle is a pleasure. Thank you to all the other Element owners who posted their thoughts-they helped me quite a bit in making my decision.

  • One great automobile! - 2006 Honda Element

This is the first Honda Ive owned and I love it. I love the EX-P model because it has the painted body clad molding that matches the SUV. Its fun to drive and has a lot of room in it. I have more room in the front of it than my wife has in her Ford Explorer Sport Trac. The gas mileage so far hasnt been as good as I expected but it only had 3 miles on it when I purchased it. I hope the more I drive it, the better the mileage will be. All together I love this SUV!! I would recommend it to anyone.

I am proud to say that I am one of the first with this great vehicle. I have had it for about a month now and I still love it as much as when I first saw it. It is funny how many comments I get every day about the Element, people love it or hate it. I have had no problems yet except poor gas mileage, the mechanic said that it will improve.

  • Element; Not just for "surfer dudes" - 2003 Honda Element

I think were the first to own an Element in our area and we love it. Weve been getting favorable stares left and right. Its very reasonably priced and you get a lot. The ride is pretty smooth and the pickup is great. The interior design is really unique and easy to access. (You cant hose it down though.) The back is amazingly roomy. There is a great selection of colors. If you have kids, the "suicide" doors are perfect for putting in car seats or having kids just climb right in. Overall, we love it.

  • Its Totally Elementary... - 2003 Honda Element

This vehicle is just too cool, drives great, incredibly functional, and an all-around blast to own. Some of the complaints I read here make me think that some were expecting a rolling miracle instead of a uniquely designed mid-size SUV? This is a versatile "lifestyle vehicle" for active people. In my 25yrs of multi- vehicle ownership, I have never been happier with a purchase! Cant wait to take it out for hiking & skiing. Just brought home a new lawnmower (in a huge box), ten 1-gal plants & 6 cu.ft. of bagged soil from the warehouse store. No sweat with the rear seats folded up and there was room for even more!

Impressed with the Elements handling, performance, utility and economy. My 1st tank got 27.015 mpg driven on cntry at less than 70 mph; My 2nd tank 23.39 mpg, all cty; my 3rd tank 24.79 mpg, cty, cntry & hwy, a/c used abt 25%. I dont dump the pedal at stops. I dont tlgate or modulate the gas pedal, shift every 50 feet. The Element handles 95% of my needs. Opts $ @ dler are criminal. Look on the inet for orig Honda parts, hve the dler install, most are a peice of cake Plan on hving the dealer install Fg lts. If DYI take time and care. A good tire shine wrks for ext composite. 4 gal left in the tank aftr low fuel lght comes on.
