This Year's Model Updates:

The 2004 Honda Element lineup gets an LX model to slot between the existing DX and EX models. New equipment on EX models includes keyless entry, a passenger-seat armrest as standard, and bungee-cord fasteners on the driver-side front and rear seat backs.

Pros:
  • Impressively versatile interior, optional all-wheel drive, smooth four-cylinder engine, styled as if out of a Japanese animation movie.
Cons:
  • Only seats four, clamshell doors hinder entry/exit for rear-seat passengers.

  • The best vehicle I ever owned - 2004 Honda Element
    By -

The Honda Element is versatile, reliable and fun to drive. The fuel economy is outstanding! I have a little import business, and all my goods from the warehouse can easily be in the Element. The back seats come in and out so easy, its a breeze! The sound system kicks, and my MP3 player connects via AUX at a click. My Orange Element gets a lot of attention on the street - in fact I daily answer questions from people who are considering buying an Element themselves. My advice is: Buy it! Ive had Dodge, Chrysler, Ford and various other Japanese cars. Never agagin. My only hope is that the Element will come in a 6-cylinder version. Then I will be one with the Element!

When I saw it I hated the color and thought it was the ugliest vehicle ever, then I drove it! It has so much room, it handles so smoothly, it drives so nicely! I love the way the seats fold up, the wipe-down surfaces, everything! I havent ever loved a vehicle until I bought my Element, its incredible!

  • Does Everything I Want! - 2004 Honda Element

Dont care that its a "box on wheels". This vehicle has been entirely functional and reliable since the day I bought it new. Hondas maintenance schedule is spartan. Get your oil changed and keep on truckin. I use it for my odd jobs around the village (painter, interior decorating, etc, with ladder!). The interior is virtually indestructable. I cant count how many times Ive had the back seats either layed flat, flipped up against the side walls, or completely taken out. Many a bag of mulch, dirt, or flats of flowers have made their way home in this fashion. Very well made, very decent gas mileage. Turns and parks on a dime. You oughta see the cool cabana tent accessory also.

  • Who says theyre for Gen X-ers only!? - 2004 Honda Element

I needed a car with better mileage that could still haul stuff if needed. Enter Element. Its engine is quite spry and handles the job more than adequately. It runs so quietly. At 80mph its almost silent. The inside is sparse, but thats fine by me. No center console, I assume because the subwoofer would be blasting onto it if there was one. This makes for no place to store small items, especially CDs. Otherwise the interior is quite functional. One problem with the side doors: If you park in a lot with a car on either side and you have to access the back seats, its quite difficult to open the front and back doors while standing between the two.

  • Love this quirky thang - 2004 Honda Element

yes it may look odd, but the functionality blows away all others I considered.

  • Love my E - Great Dog Car - 2004 Honda Element
    By -

I LOVE my Element and am actually about to trade it in on a 2008! I have removed the back two seats and have turned into a "dog car" with crates for my 4 dogs, my Quik Shade tent, chairs and everything else I need for our weekend outings at agility trials or disc dog competitions. Its versatility is phenomenal and a friend and I kid that "Everything can fit in the E!". It drives great, has been 100% reliable. Gas mileage has been good for an SUV. I looked around a little before deciding on another E but couldnt find anything that suits my needs like the E does.

  • 4 Years & Still Love It - 2004 Honda Element

If you like a practical vehicle, not showy, but tough, durable and fun to drive - The Element is for you. I have gone through 4 bad Michigan winters and was very impressed with the dependability and the way it handles in adverse weather conditions. This is a great little truck I plan on driving it until it falls apart and just cant be driven anymore.

  • Lovin it! - 2004 Honda Element

My dad has fun with his 04 Element, especially since it stands out with its Fiji Blue color. He mainly uses it to deliver restaurant supplies to his restaurant in LA. Ill occasionally take his car to school once in a while. I cant complain about those handy fold-up rear seats. Although they are a bit heavy, once folded up, you have plenty of cargo room. The floor is so easy to clean off as well - just spray it off with a garden hose. Handling is sharp sure doesnt feel clumsy on turns. I love this box!

  • Great Car/Suv - 2004 Honda Element

I love my element. The stadium seating in the back seat is a fav among my friends. Most of my friends say this car is ugly until they see how "cool" it is inside. I love the available space and the ease of cleanup. The panaramic view from the front is great. Manueverability is great and parking is easy. This car is fun to drive and I cant wait to take it camping. Legroom in the back is great, headroom everywhere more than enough.

  • Its an E Thing - 2004 Honda Element

This is by far one of the most fun cars Ive ever owned. It just does something to me that when I see open fields of snow I want to veer off the road and go driving through them. I feel the call of the wild beckoning me to come and play with my new Element. I didnt like the looks of the Element when I first saw them. In fact, I thought it was down right ugly. But once I found the color that I liked, it really grew on me. Best ride for the money.
