Model Overview:

Sold from 2003-'11, the Honda Element compact crossover SUV remains one of the most distinctive and practical vehicles on the road. Happy Element owners are often city dwellers who appreciate both its small size and generous 75-cubic-foot maximum cargo capacity. Another notable element about the Element is the ability of its access-style rear doors to pivot backward a full 90 degrees, providing unimpeded access to the roomy and creatively configurable rear seats.

A used Element of any vintage is easy to recommend thanks to its functional interior, smooth four-cylinder engine and carlike handling, not to mention Honda's reputation for reliability. That said, it's worthwhile to focus your search on 2007 and newer models, as they offer a bit more power and enhanced safety features.

From the moment I opened the door – I fell in love. I’m a smoker and this SUV offers not only easy clean up for children spills and dirt, but with just a bit of cleaner and a rag the smoke smell is history. I vacuum my SUV out wipe him down and off I go. The real time four wheel drive system is awesome in the snow, sand and mud. I have really put my SUV to the test and it out performs all I have ever driven. I have driven thru NM, TX, TN, AL, and GA – This SUV is gas friendly and fun to drive. I recommend it to anyone that is in need of a dependable, very roomy, functional and yet affordable SUV. And it’s a Honda

  • Excellent alternative to an all-out-SUV - 2003 Honda Element

Ive had my E for about 2.5 years now and havent had any problems worth taking to the dealer for. The drivers seat needs new bushings to keep it from shifting, and every 10 minutes or so, the headlights go dim for a second before returning to normal. Both of these items are inherent to the 2003 model. The cabin does have some wind noise, and the suspension is rather jarring. Otherwise, this vehicle has been 100% reliable. It has a very tight turning circle, and is very fun to drive. The lack of carpeting makes for easy cleaning and the seat configurations make it one of the most versatile vehicles on the road. I usually get 21 MPG on average. Wish Honda made an upscale version.

  • Love my Element - 2007 Honda Element

I love this car. It is perfect for my outdoorsy lifestyle and works great with my big dog. I cant wait until this summer to take it on more road trips. And cant wait to be able to camp out in it. I love being able to fit all my gear plus my dog plus a friend and their gear in a car that gets great gas mileage.

  • great utility vehicle - 2005 Honda Element

Our Element has been GREAT! Very dependable and versatile- will haul most anything you can fit into it! The stereo, heater and AC work very well, and the controls are very easy to use. Snow and icy road conditions have been no problem at all. Even after owning all brands of 4-wheel drive vehicles, the Element performs as good as any of them. It seems that the gas mileage should be better for a four cylinder (ours gets a real-world 21-25) and the sunroof would be much better if placed over the front seats. The interior passenger room is amazing- everyone who looks inside is surprised at the amount of passenger/ cargo room. Our two teenage kids can even stretch out.

  • I love my Element! - 2007 Honda Element

I just purchased my 2007 Element a couple of weeks ago, and I love it! Its great for my two german shepherd dogs! The back seats flip up out of the way easily and the utility floor is easy to clean. Its fun to drive, and handles well. The interior is very spacious, with plenty of leg room for everyone. The steering wheel mounted audio and cruise controls are easy to use. And the XM radio is great! The tailgate configuration in the back makes loading dogs or groceries easy. So far, Im averaging 24-25 mpg for a combination of city and highway driving. Overall, I love it. Its a great, practical vehicle thats fun to drive!

  • What is this ugly thing - 2004 Honda Element
    By -

Its ugly but I like the stares. It is dependalbe as all get out and has more room for the passengers than I have ever seen in a vehicle. Havent drove in the indiana snow yet so who knows about that. Good get up and go but wish it got a little better gas mileage. If you can take the ribbing by your buddies, its a good little car/suv/truck/van/whatever and I like mine so far.

  • This car rocks my world!!! - 2007 Honda Element

What a great little car! I can fit my mountain bikes, snowboards, backpacking equipment and the kitchen sink if I needed to in this awesome car. If you are a person who loves the outdoors, this car will DEFINITELY love you too. If you are a little bit messy - muddy or spill- prone like I am, just hose out the inside and get on with your life. No tent? Thats fine. Just recline all the seats and sleep under the moon roof with the doors wide open. I love how the doors swing wide open so that you can put whatever you need to in the back seat without shutting your front door and opening your back door. Oh - and it makes a great changing room on cold snowboarding days, too!

  • practical and reliable - 2005 Honda Element

After thorough research, I decided to purchase a Honda Element before making a 650-mile move last year. It turns out to be one of the best decisions Ive made. Last year alone, I made countless long distance trips in it. Most of them at least 9 to 10 hours, and sometimes with the car packed solid. Through snow, and thunderstorm, Element delivers. I feel safe and comfortable in this vehicle. The mileage is better than other comparable models. and it offers great features while reasonably priced. My sister is even thinking about buying one after driving mine.
