Model Overview:

Sold from 2003-'11, the Honda Element compact crossover SUV remains one of the most distinctive and practical vehicles on the road. Happy Element owners are often city dwellers who appreciate both its small size and generous 75-cubic-foot maximum cargo capacity. Another notable element about the Element is the ability of its access-style rear doors to pivot backward a full 90 degrees, providing unimpeded access to the roomy and creatively configurable rear seats.

A used Element of any vintage is easy to recommend thanks to its functional interior, smooth four-cylinder engine and carlike handling, not to mention Honda's reputation for reliability. That said, it's worthwhile to focus your search on 2007 and newer models, as they offer a bit more power and enhanced safety features.

  • not for elderly passengers - 2005 Honda Element

I truely love to drive this car and its great for just 2 and the dog holds everything, but taking elderly passengers in the back seat can be challenging. They have a hard time getting up and in and getting out. With the front door open, there is no frame for them to hold on to and you need a lot of side space to open the back door. I have a sun roof which can be too bright for those in the back seat while traveling since there is no ceiling panel to close it off. Thinking about tinting it darker. Unless you are a basketball player, you need a ladder to wash this car.

  • Best Baseball car ever! - 2003 Honda Element

I wanted a vehicle without carpeting and the Honda Element was the only one I could find besides a truck and I did not want a full size truck. The Honda Element has been a wonderful vehicle to drive for the last 4 years. My son is an avid baseball player and, with dirt and mud and cleats and baseball bags, having this vehicle has been a real blessing. He can have his buds ride with us anywhere and we do not have to worry about dirty carpet or spills that may happen. Just wipe it down with cleaner and it is good as new. I love it! It drives so easy and is very comfortable on long trips. My son also loves the fact the seats recline so he can rest before games.

  • The Best Car I Ever Had - 2006 Honda Element

I love this car. It is a great mom car since the inside can be wiped down. It also has enough room for me to get into the car while putting my daughter into her seat. The leg room in the back is wonderful.

  • Great car except for the mileage - 2007 Honda Element
    By -

We recently purchased our Element and have found it to be extremely useful. The interior is more spacious than you could imagine for such a small vehicle. It is very well designed. The only drawback so far is that we are getting about 18 MPG mixed City/HWY MPG. To claim 21/26 is a bold statement. Great little milk truck though.

  • Its a Gimmick - 2005 Honda Element

For an SUV the Element is incredibly under powered and the AWD is no help at all with out ABS,which is not available on the LX model. The suicide doors are just a hassle especially if you are in a car pool. The person in the front seat needs to take off his/her seat belt and open the door just to let someone in the back.

  • chev tahoe to honda element - 2005 Honda Element
    By -

If you want to own an suv with low cost then this is for you, I have driven for five years a 2000 chev tahoe and this element delivers room plus!! All the room inside without cost! My tahoe had all the bells and whistles but the element delivers!! The only negative is with the 285hp in the tahoe I could just pass or pull out without pause whereas the element is slow but on open highway it is the same. but one thing to remember is getting in out if you have children, mine are grown so it is a pain to the sucide doors, I just wish I bought the element five years ago. I do miss the sitting up higher in the tahoe but the element can move in and out of traffic easy.

  • So much fun! - 2007 Honda Element
    By -

I just bought my Element and love it! The gas mileage is better than I thought it would be. The arm rest is anemic but other than that, I am so happy with my new car. It is fun to have a vehicle that not everyone else has. If you want a quality, efficient vehicle with its own flare, the Element is for you!

  • The Green Shortbus - 2007 Honda Element

I have really enjoyed this vehicle. Its fun to drive and I am averaging just under 21 mpg mostly city about 25 highway. Cargo space is great, smooth ride. Definitely recommend changing the tires to something more SUV style. I put BFG Long Trail and rides and handles much better. Truly recommend this vehicle to all.

  • Great Vehicle - 2004 Honda Element
    By -

We purchased this vehicle about 3 months ago and have taken it on trips non-stop. We were impressed with its ability to be like a truck, you can load and haul pretty much anything in it. Clean up is very easy. Just wipe it clean and youre done. Easy to wash and wax too. Not much to do because the durable plastic exterior part is so easy to wipe down.

Love this car. Currently shopping for the 5th in our family. Everyone who rides in ours buys one. This car is a blast to drive and VERY comfortable. Will own this for 10 years.
