Overview & Reviews
Sold from 2003-'11, the Honda Element compact crossover SUV remains one of the most distinctive and practical vehicles on the road. Happy Element owners are often city dwellers who appreciate both its small size and generous 75-cubic-foot maximum cargo capacity. Another notable element about the Element is the ability of its access-style rear doors to pivot backward a full 90 degrees, providing unimpeded access to the roomy and creatively configurable rear seats.
A used Element of any vintage is easy to recommend thanks to its functional interior, smooth four-cylinder engine and carlike handling, not to mention Honda's reputation for reliability. That said, it's worthwhile to focus your search on 2007 and newer models, as they offer a bit more power and enhanced safety features.

Nice Little Green Machine - 2003 Honda Element
By DG - August 13 - 12:13 amVersatility and reliable powertrain are biggest attributes of this EX model AWD vehicle. Removing the rear seats turns it into a cargo van. No carpeting a plus, cleans up easily with vacuum and a wet sponge. Wont win races, but it wasnt designed for that purpose. A few defects, but were covered under warranty. 21 mpg mixed highway and city miles not great, but no surprise due to curb weight, AWD, and lack of aerodynamics. Tight turning radius is impressive. Stress on front "A" pillars may have resulted in windshield cracking. Hard to believe this vehicle is shorter bumper- to-bumper than the Civic in the same model year.

Root Beer Metallic is so cool - 2007 Honda Element
By 30309 - August 12 - 6:42 pmThis is my second Honda Element, I owned a 2005 EX and loved the car but was not impressed with the over all ride quality. Honda stepped up to the plate with the 2007 SC, this Element handles extremely well and at high speed the car is smooth and quiet.

THE anti-bloated SUV for the big city - 2004 Honda Element
By Marthirial - August 10 - 2:00 amBasically, this car is a dream come true for a devouted pragmatic individual seeking the perfect companion for movility needs in a city like New York. Responsive engine to claim your rights against &@#$# taxi drivers, compact body so it fits anywhere side parked, rugged interior so for me (and other 11 million people) without a driveway where to hose the car, cleaning is fast and easy. Interior, very elegant and functional, spacious out of description, almost a magic trick.

So far, very good - 2008 Honda Element
By Roman - July 29 - 1:19 amAfter choosing a black 07 AWD, I changed my mind at the last minute and got a gray 08 SC because I liked the larger wheels, projector headlights, and more civilized interior trim (carpet). I have nothing but praise so far. Its comfortable, practical, fun and gets a lot more attention than I expected. At times I think its ugly, but it keeps some strange appeal in spite of it. Great feel on the highway, weak acceleration at the light, but after 40 mph, its a rocket. The interior features are very well thought-out and the audio is better than my 07 Acura TL. While the SC interior is softer, it remains a very utilitarian vehicle. Its great.

Something different and fun to drive - 2007 Honda Element
By Lisa - July 28 - 8:50 pmI needed to purchase a car with room. Ive always owned sports cars. I purchased my Ellie for a couple of reasons. The first is because I loved the looks of it, something different, not your typical SUV. Second is because I have a physical disability. I need to have room for my walker or when I go somewhere that I need to bring my scooter, I just have the back seats folded up and up the ramp it goes! No problem.

Element - Long Overdue - 2003 Honda Element
By OOX-MAN - July 27 - 2:00 amI tried to choose other vehicles over the Element, due to the styling. But, as soon as I test-drove it....I overlooked the styling. I compared the Xterra, CR-V, Escape, 4-Runner, etc. You cant beat the value, safety, standard options, reliability, and security all in one SUV for this price.

Middle of the Road - 2003 Honda Element
By Fitz007 - July 27 - 2:00 amNot really an SUV, nor a highway cruiser, the Element seems to work best in speeds between 20 and 50. Drives at highway speed (70) show the weaknessess of box-like areodynamics (wind can push you around). Definitely not an off- roader, the element still manages to do well on worn terrain. Base model equipped like a box (no standard AC, stereo, ABS. The fuel efficiency is somewhat low considering the 4 cyl engine....

Like driving a go-cart - 2004 Honda Element
By cleanqueen - July 26 - 1:59 pmThis car is so fun to drive! I got a manual transmission which makes it even more fun to drive! I find that with the stick, it has more pep than an automatic transmission. Since the car has no carpet, its great for hauling my dog who sheds around in it. It has a tremendous amount of knee room in the back even for tall people. I would definitely recommend this car to anyone who wants an affordable SUV style car that has a lot of room in it without paying big bucks!

Only one problem - 2005 Honda Element
By Mr. E - July 24 - 12:33 pmI hate the instrument cluster. When are automakers going to get a clue, and start mounting the instruments so we dont have to peer through a tiny hole in the steering wheel to see the gauges? Counterexamples: Scion xB and Mini Cooper, whose instrument visibility is unmatched. So, even though the Elements steering wheel can "adjust" (DOWN, helpful if youre 4 feet tall) and the drivers seat can "adjust" (UP, improves visibility using the generous headroom), the only way I can see the speedometer is with the seat DOWN and the steering wheel UP. So no adjustment is actually possible, if youre an average 58" guy like me! If youre taller, youll likely never see half the speedometer...

Lovin it - 2005 Honda Element
By Element Owner - July 24 - 12:09 pmGreat vehicle for what I like to do, camp, bike and hike. Kids love it. Wife and daughter are horse folks and works out great for them too. Cleans up great, hauls tons of stuff, great AC.
