This Year's Model Updates:

The 2004 Honda Element lineup gets an LX model to slot between the existing DX and EX models. New equipment on EX models includes keyless entry, a passenger-seat armrest as standard, and bungee-cord fasteners on the driver-side front and rear seat backs.

Pros:
  • Impressively versatile interior, optional all-wheel drive, smooth four-cylinder engine, styled as if out of a Japanese animation movie.
Cons:
  • Only seats four, clamshell doors hinder entry/exit for rear-seat passengers.

  • Great overall - 2004 Honda Element

Great fun factor vehicle. I am getting about 25-26 miles per gallon with manual transmission. This is a great car that would serve the all the purposes: vacation, basic transportation, big item moving or purchasing. Mine is a DX, so the only thing I miss is the cruise control, everything else is very well thought and placed. I love my Element, and I plan to have it for a good while. Buyer beware: if you drive it, youll like it... and buy it.

  • fun with function - 2004 Honda Element

I have had my Element for ten months now. It is the most functional vehicle i have ever owned. there are only a few things that can be improved upon. The suicide doors while being essential to the function of this truck pose a problem for back seat passengers. The front seatbelt must be unbuckled and the front door opened before the back seat passenger can enter or exit. Also, the windows barely open at all in the back seat. For this reason I would recommend the vehicle to someone who only carries passengers occasionally. For an active lifestyle the Element cannot be beat.

We test drove the Scion xB, Toyota Matrix, Subaru Forester and Element. The Subaru was the smoothest ride, BUT it sits low like a car and handles like a car. The storage options inside are limited. We chose the Element because we need a small city car with lots of hauling capacity for my husbands music equipment. All his equipment fits easily in the E and the E is small and easy to park. We like how you sit very high in the E and have a wide view out the windshield. Visbility is great. You can also fold up or remove the rear seats for plenty of storage. We got the EX model for the Side Air bags. Though crash tests are impressive, side crash test scores were poor without side air bags.

  • Love This Thing! - 2004 Honda Element

We just purchased this vehicle as our primary vehicle. We love it. My husband is 63" and has more than adequate room for him and our growing son without kicking the backs of the seats anymore. Now neither of them are eating their knees anymore like in our old sedan. I certainly would like to buy another one!

  • Excellent! - 2004 Honda Element

Everything about this car thrills me, the styling, the handling, the interior space. I previously had a Saab 9-5 that completely fell apart before it reached 70,000 miles, starter, electronics display, rotor, turbo, head gasket. I had bought it to last. Never again. So much for German and American engineering.

I love it.. there never before was a car designed just for me. I sail, bike, kayak, windsurf and ski and this car lets me carry everything easily.

I bought the Element to replace a Jeep pickup truck. It has exceeded my expectations. I find it to be well built and functional inside and out. Since it has only a four cylinder I wish it got better gas mileage. I also wish it had a six cylinder. I would definitely buy it again. My wife does not like to drive it only because she says it lacks power. Please note that she drives a Buick Regal GS with a super charged engine. We have taken it on a 1,200 mile round vacation and it was extremely comfortable and enjoyable to drive.

Got my new Ele last month and cant say enough good about it. As a prior Honda owner (98 Accord lx v6), and still have it, I knew the Ele would be a great car. I wanted an suv type vehicle, but with good gas milage and lower insurance costs. I have to say I get 23-25 mpg in the city and about 28-30 on the highway. Great job Honda, keep up the good work, Ill be a customer for life.
