Model Overview:

Sold from 2003-'11, the Honda Element compact crossover SUV remains one of the most distinctive and practical vehicles on the road. Happy Element owners are often city dwellers who appreciate both its small size and generous 75-cubic-foot maximum cargo capacity. Another notable element about the Element is the ability of its access-style rear doors to pivot backward a full 90 degrees, providing unimpeded access to the roomy and creatively configurable rear seats.

A used Element of any vintage is easy to recommend thanks to its functional interior, smooth four-cylinder engine and carlike handling, not to mention Honda's reputation for reliability. That said, it's worthwhile to focus your search on 2007 and newer models, as they offer a bit more power and enhanced safety features.

  • Finally somethings different. - 2003 Honda Element

This car is a great car because its very practical and unique in many ways. Unlike V6, this car has only Inline-4 with 160 hps, which gives a decent fuel economy and proformance. One more thing, every where I go, I always get the attention from people, and all my friends love it when I drive it to school.

  • LOVE my new E!! - 2008 Honda Element

I drove several different vehicles including the tiny Fit and a luxurious CRV, but as soon as I got into the Element I knew it was the right one. The kiwi-metallic color puts a smile on my face every time I see it and it is so much fun to drive. The factory stereo BUMPS! Accelerates well enough... I dont drive too aggressively... kid seat fits with tons of room left over. I wish the rear windows rolled down. They pop open but that can be a hassle while driving. The seats are fairly comfortable. A little stiff but that helps a bad back on a long drive... good support. TONS of interior room. Feels like a real sturdy vehicle. Drove WAY better than the Pilot. Never loved a car like I love my Element!!

I use mine as a high mileage "bail- bond" runner with my advertising on all four sides. Its a design icon so it gets a LOT of notice. Incredibly versatile, tremendous value, good gas mileage, reasonably comfortable. If I get too tired to drive, I jump in the back and sleep a couple of hours and then Im back to it. Ive enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Stadium seating is cool.

  • Takes the Fun out of Functional - 2003 Honda Element

I love my E for all the features and practicality. Its easy to maintain, easy to clean, and easy to own all around. It runs great with 70,000 miles, and maintenance has been minimal. I really love the waterproof seats and rubber floors. I get sand, mud and water in the car all the time from all the outdoor sports that I do. Its super easy to clean the car and not worry about the mess. I also love the versatility of seating, and cargo space. Its so easy to throw anything I want in the car. The E is Uber functional, just not very fun to drive. Its not fast, not sporty, doesnt handle well at high speed or in corners, but it gets me where I need to go and is reasonably comfortable.

  • Surprised me! - 2005 Honda Element

I went to the dealership to buy a CRV but stopped and looked at the Element 4wd EX on my way to the office. It is red and I got on the goodies put on it to make it really sharp. The roominess was the 1st impressive feature, followed by the functionality. What a great car/truck! It took me about 3 weeks to get used to its looks but I did and think its cute. I am a Realtor and my clients love the car when they get in. It is perfect for me, my wife and the 2 dogs as well. The stereo system is another bonus along with the seats folding up fairly easily. And I certainly dont care if it gets a bit dirty on the interior because it is so easy to clean! Fun car and its a Honda too. What a perk!

  • Best Vehicle Weve Had - 2005 Honda Element

We live at the end of a dead end road and our Element spends a LOT of time off road and on bad roads. Downsides are that the seats are a bit uncomfortable on long trips, the visibility is sometimes difficult with the side pillar, the gas mileage could be better. Also, the moon roof is way too difficult to replace after removing. Wish the rack spacing on the roof was longer. The wipe down seats and interior are wonderful for a canoe paddler that also hauls his dogs around. Have had it for going on 4 years and no problems except for drivers seat problems. Our Element has never been stuck except after a 6" ice storm. Routinely cross creeks et al on the farm and it rarely kicks into 4WD.

  • Needs more interior room! - 2008 Honda Element

Great to drive...very good gas mileage for an SUV!

  • Loving the elements - 2005 Honda Element

Do alot of traveling...Love the way the element drives and looks. Handles the curves of hwy 299 excellently at decent speeds !!!! Didnt feel too top heavy. The element shifts up and down easily...Fifth gear did great going up i5s grapevine with the best of them and even on steep grades going down, hardly needed to use the brakes going down in third.

  • "Little Hummer" Turns Heads - 2003 Honda Element

Not a 20-something. Not a surfer. Not likely to live in the thing. Drive it to work and back, have taken 1300-mile roadtrip to test its worthiness. Good in the slushy snow while in Richmond. Love the stereo. Needs a GPS. Only miss so far? A coat hanger hook! Dogs like it. Co-workers with either an "eek-thats ugly" or "its kinda cute/interesting/chunky" (never sexy or fast looking). So far (~3000 miles) a real mule for the hauling and nice leg room and comfort for 65" owner (no, not as comfortable as the Yukon XL, but much less money). LOTS of looks and "whats thats" from the stop light and parking lot gawkers.
