This Year's Model Updates:

The 2004 Honda Element lineup gets an LX model to slot between the existing DX and EX models. New equipment on EX models includes keyless entry, a passenger-seat armrest as standard, and bungee-cord fasteners on the driver-side front and rear seat backs.

Pros:
  • Impressively versatile interior, optional all-wheel drive, smooth four-cylinder engine, styled as if out of a Japanese animation movie.
Cons:
  • Only seats four, clamshell doors hinder entry/exit for rear-seat passengers.

  • Boggled 1 - 2004 Honda Element

This is one of the most well thought out vehicles on the market today. Although Honda tried to target the younger drivers. Im 44 years old and appretiate all that the element offers. As a home owner, there are times when I have to haul items. The removal of the rear seats makes this task very easy. As well as the clean up, when all you have to do is wash out the interior with a hose. The comfort and styling are impressive too. And the sound system is superb. My wife and I really like having the Element experience. Were boggled!

Just bought my ELEMENT and I love it. My first foray into SUV and this one is not only Funky, but Fun to drive and travel in. ThisSUV is NOT like everyone else. This is not the Soccer Moms SUV! This is the I want to have fun and travel in style SUV and I couldnt be more impressed with its style comfort and power!

  • Great vehicle at a great price - 2004 Honda Element

I hate to think that I was a victim of corporate advertising but it happened. Honda marketed the Element for the 21- 30 year old male population, and I bought it hook line ans sinker. Although I have to admit, my Element is by far the most fun to drive and the most versatile vehicle I have ever owned. I gave it a great review because it dserves it. I am looking forward to many years of this sUv (emphasis on the U) giving me ample cargo space, great gas mileage, and lots of fun!

This vehicle is extremely versitle. I have taken the seats out and carried a love seat. I have taken my family of four on long trips in comfort. Last week I drove it 1,000 miles in two days and felt good afterwards. I average 23 MPG and get up to 26 MPG. The engine is smooth, the vehicle is quiet, and I can sleep in it if I want. Plus to clean it I open the doors get out the leaf blower and bhamclean car. I have been asked so many times about the car that I embarass my 16 yr. old. The car could be heavier, have an arm rest and cruise control (I had AC, and a stereo put in immediately) Overall a great vehicle you could call it an FUV, fun utility vehicle

  • Lots of room for - 2004 Honda Element

My wife was crazy about this car after we drove it. We compared it to the Mazda Tribute/Ford Escape and the CRV looking for a reliable business vehicle to help me survive midwest winters on the road. Tall (62") children fit comfortably in back seats. Feels very large inside, but fits nicely everywhere. Bottom line - its functional and my teens think its cool; a moms car that doesnt look like a moms car. Super easy to find in a parking lot.

  • Not the Target Market - 2004 Honda Element

We are retired and not in Hondas target market for the Element. I think the vehicle is to practical for the X or Y generation. Its fun to drive, although the short wheel base gives a choppy ride on rough roads. Goes great in snow even without AWD.

  • Why they took so long to build it!!! - 2004 Honda Element

My wife and I are 50 and have been driving three different Chevy Tracker Convertibles since 1992. We purchased the Element in November of 2003. Our very first reaction was god that puppy is ugly, but after viewing one in person our opinion change almost imediately. The whole package is totally outstanding. The maintaince is unreal as well. It hardly calls for any service compared to the tracker. There is not one thing that we dislike about the Element and hope to drive it for a long time. Once again we have a FUN vehicle.

  • Perfect Package for Me - 2004 Honda Element

My lease ran up on my civic and I went into the dealership to exchange the civic for an accord. After the dealer listened to my needs as what I wanted out of my next vehicle, he suggested the element. To be honest, I wasnt very attracted to the looks of them, but he convinced me to take it for a test drive. I fell in love with it and have had no regrets!! The interior is very roomy, with lots of extra compartments. I have a dog, so the waterproof seats and flooring are great for water spills, etc. The stereo system is nice, too. Overall, I would recommend this car to anyone wanting something roomy, reliable and affordable.

  • The BOX - 2004 Honda Element

The first full up was city driving and it was 22 mpg. I went on a 400 trip and the mpg was 26. The second car is a Ford 2002 XLT Explorer. The Explorers ride is smoother, space is larger, but the Honda is quieter, MPG is 7 better, and the handling is much better. The explorer is my wifes car and its replacement will be a Hydrid Escape or a Honda CRV. The Honda is mine and I will probably drive it for about 200,000 miles before I consider replacing it. That is the main difference outside of overall MPG. The honda will last that long with really no major repairs expected, the Ford could but they do not design it too.
