Model Overview:

Sold from 2003-'11, the Honda Element compact crossover SUV remains one of the most distinctive and practical vehicles on the road. Happy Element owners are often city dwellers who appreciate both its small size and generous 75-cubic-foot maximum cargo capacity. Another notable element about the Element is the ability of its access-style rear doors to pivot backward a full 90 degrees, providing unimpeded access to the roomy and creatively configurable rear seats.

A used Element of any vintage is easy to recommend thanks to its functional interior, smooth four-cylinder engine and carlike handling, not to mention Honda's reputation for reliability. That said, it's worthwhile to focus your search on 2007 and newer models, as they offer a bit more power and enhanced safety features.

  • Great Fun Car !!! - 2004 Honda Element

I first test drove one of these puppies back when they were released in 2003. It was great how much "pan-o-ramic" vision that the front windshield offered. I waited to purchase until this St. Pattys Day only because ov 2 reasons: the dreaded "1st Model Year" curse, and also desperatly hoping that HONDA would replace the STUPID looking "Plastic" wheel guards/side panels with real "Body" / Metal panels (kind ov like the kewl looking Scion from Toyota). - crocshop.co

  • Buyer beware - 2006 Honda Element

I had owned Hondas before and had no problems with them. The element I bought seemed like a perfect choice for reliable and functional little SUV. It has been to the dealership six times for the same sputtering under acceleration. The Honda of America rep assured he he would fix it or buy it back. Since then it has sat at the dealership for nearly a month waiting on answers. I have been patient yet they question my urgency in resolving the issue. Imagine car payments on a car you can not use. That is my element. Honda needs to stand behind the product when there is a problem. We all make mistakes. But you lose face hiding behind voice mails.

  • A great family car for young kids! - 2008 Honda Element

We just bought a 2008 Honda Element. Being the parents of two toddlers we needed a car that could take a beating and this one looked like it could. It has delivered in spades. Our kids LOVE IT-they climb up inside themselves (we bought the side steps) and into their car seats. I love it because I can actually stand in back to buckle them in, which means no more opening one door into oncoming traffic. I just put them in the curbside door and climb in after them to secure them. They also love that they sit up high and can see everything. The audio system is pretty impressive for factory installed.

It took me 6 months to make up my mind as my 05 Nissan Frontier lease was ending. Looked at all of the econo- boxes, just couldnt do it! Couldnt commit to driving a sardine-can for the next 4-5 years, despite the price of gas. Between my wife and I, weve owned 4 Civics and 1 CR-V over the last years, so dont break up a winning streak, go back to Honda. This is now Honda #6! Excellent little truck, does all I needed and wanted kayaks on roof, r/c sailboat in back, room for the Greyhound too! Didnt need leather, carpet, Bluetooth, MP3 either. Just a dependable, versatile small SUV.Have been watching Elements since they first came out but were too costly in Canada, much better deals in S.FL!

  • very disapointed - 2004 Honda Element

I was so happy for the first several months. Then the windshield cracked from a tiny pebble. Of course, not covered under warranty. But come to find out I am not the only owner complaining about this. There is a recall on the 2003 elements but Honda has not fixed the problem with the 2004 model. check out this website... hondaelementscrack.com for more complaints. And then I recently tried to put in a baby car seat in the back seat and it is impossible to secure safety. I would not recommend this car to anyone.

  • Whata fresh suv - 2004 Honda Element

After searching forever for a relieable ,fun to drive car..i was introduced to the Element very much by accident..its ugly yes..but boy does it attract attention ..good and bad... I have found many duties for this suv and it has been flawless. This is my first foreign made car.. and i will prolly buy Honda again. I have a 4 year lease on this Element. the only issue is the many scratchs ive seen on what i thought was high quality plastics..inside and out.

  • Coolest Family Car - 2004 Honda Element

We owned a Land Rover before we bought the Honda Element and making that switch was one of the smartest moves weve made. Our neighbors and friends were quite shocked when we came home with it, once they saw the interior they couldnt believe all the room it had. We have two boys, 6 and 4 years old -it is a perfect car for kids if you want to be a cute, hip, outdoorsy type mom. For such a little thing we feel like we have twice the room as the Land Rover and over double the gas mileage. We love the water wash down floors, never any stains from the kids drinks or food. I told my 6 year old son when we bought it that we just bought his car-10 years from now.

  • Neat Little SUV - 2003 Honda Element
    By -

This is a neat little SUV that gets 26 to the gallon and its 2.4 four has enough power to make it fun to drive. Slightly more small truck than car. Nice and roomy. The look takes a bit getting used to. Some say it looks like a Hummer on a diet. One guy asked me if the windows were bullet prove because it looks like a small Brinks Truck. It also reminds you of a Jeep. It is quite roomy yet quite small and if fact it is shorter than a Civic. The Ex has a great sterio with SubWoofer between the seats.

  • New Element EX automatic 4wd - 2003 Honda Element

I had tried out the Nissan Extera and toyota Highlander prior to buying the Element. I am very pleased with the vehicle. Handles and steers very well. Easy and fun to drive. Love the practical and elegant simplicity of the interior. Very comfortable driver seat.

  • Love It? Love It! - 2003 Honda Element
    By -

Its either you really love it or you really hate it. Its design is a bit compared to other small SUVs in its class, but overall the Element stands up to competition very well. The price of the Element came as a shock, I was expecting another $30,000.00 SUV, but this one barely reaches over $21,000, not bad! The prototype Honda orginally designed was named Type X. It had round headlamps, and side marker blinkers. After some tweaking of ideas, we have the current Element. Smart, Practical, and made for everyone.
