Model Overview:

Sold from 2003-'11, the Honda Element compact crossover SUV remains one of the most distinctive and practical vehicles on the road. Happy Element owners are often city dwellers who appreciate both its small size and generous 75-cubic-foot maximum cargo capacity. Another notable element about the Element is the ability of its access-style rear doors to pivot backward a full 90 degrees, providing unimpeded access to the roomy and creatively configurable rear seats.

A used Element of any vintage is easy to recommend thanks to its functional interior, smooth four-cylinder engine and carlike handling, not to mention Honda's reputation for reliability. That said, it's worthwhile to focus your search on 2007 and newer models, as they offer a bit more power and enhanced safety features.

I love my Honda element. This is my second one. Only issue i have is that this is the second time that the master brake cylinder went out after about 29,000 miles. It was under warranty. I also had a 2004 element and the same thing happened. Kinda odd that it would go out in my 2007 element. I think Honda should check into a internal leap problem in the master brake cylinder. Other wise, I love my element. thanks.

I traded in my 04 Element, and bought the new 08. Loved my first Element, and only traded it because I got a great deal. I live in New England and find the car handles all the weather that we get great. I have taken several trips to New Hampshire. Handles the mountains well.

This is the first car I have owned for more than 5 years. I think its a keeper. I live in Mexico and its the perfect vehicle for the terrain. And like all good Mexicans, you can get at least 6 adults in it - not comfortably - but none the least useful to the culture! Whenever I have it maintenanced here in Mexico, everyone at the dealership has to get inside and check it out and so do the customers - its definitely a head turner. I had a front end accident and the Element barely had a dent while the other Nissan pickup looked like a Mack truck had hit it. Even in Mexico, Honda dealerships provide excellent service! I have a 4wd/EX Sunset Orange.

Car started to rattle a day after driving it off the lot. The rattle was on the passenger side in the dashboard area. Took it to the dealer and while trying to fix it they broke the windshield. Put another one in and it was defective also and the rattle went from the passenger side to the driver side. Now, with the third windshield installed it has a completely different intermittent rattle in the dash area. Will try taking it to a different dealer.

LOVE my new Element. Always owned Ford in the past, never again. Versitile, stylish, fun, young, and a head turner...the Element has its good points too.

  • Fabulous Orange Box - 2004 Honda Element

I bought this car for a move from MS to CO and loaded it full. The gas mileage was something to brag about and the way this loaded down 4 cylinder handled over mountain passes impressed me. I havent had much experience with it in the snow yet but I have faith it will meet my expectations. My Element has gone to the beach. All I had to do to get the sand out was sweep the car. AND it is wonderful for the dog owner, the dog hair clean up is so easy, just roll down the window and it all blows out!

My Element is a lot of fun to drive, has great get up and go, is very utilitarian and has everything we needed in an SUV!

  • Made a believer out of my friends - 2004 Honda Element

When I told my friends I was buying an Element, they all just smirked. But then I took them out cruising on a Saturday night, and they fell in love with it. The only problem is now everyone will want me to drive when we go out. My friends are all 510" plus and 200lbs or more, and they have more than enough room. Not superfast, but enough power to dart and weave through the Chicago Metropolitan Area. Go Cubs!
