Overview & Reviews
Sold from 2003-'11, the Honda Element compact crossover SUV remains one of the most distinctive and practical vehicles on the road. Happy Element owners are often city dwellers who appreciate both its small size and generous 75-cubic-foot maximum cargo capacity. Another notable element about the Element is the ability of its access-style rear doors to pivot backward a full 90 degrees, providing unimpeded access to the roomy and creatively configurable rear seats.
A used Element of any vintage is easy to recommend thanks to its functional interior, smooth four-cylinder engine and carlike handling, not to mention Honda's reputation for reliability. That said, it's worthwhile to focus your search on 2007 and newer models, as they offer a bit more power and enhanced safety features.

Best all around car Ive owned. 24 mpg - 2005 Honda Element
By Dave Mathews - September 27 - 3:06 amAfter totaling my 2004 2WD (not my fault), I now have a 2005 AWD. I had my 04 for 6 years and it was still worth what I paid for it used! I was lucky to find a replacement because they are getting scarce and people are holding on to them. My new one is all-wheel-drive, which it turns out is awesome! AND, it gets consistently 24 mpg, which is better than my last one. Spacious, comfortable, utilitarian vehicle. When researching to buy my new one (11 yrs. old) I found many with over 200,000 miles and even a couple with over 300,000. I intend to drive this car for a very long time.

2006 honda Element 5 speed 4wd - 2006 Honda Element
By Christina - September 17 - 10:34 amI really loved my 2006 Element until gas prices started to go up and the 2007 models came out with the seat belt attached to the seat instead of the back door. How ever I love the honeycomb grill on mine compared to the newer models and the ease of cleaning the interior.

I THINK I downsized - 2008 Honda Element
By rick259g - September 17 - 9:57 ambought this Element "downsizing" from a Ford Explorer with 186k miles. I have more legroom, better road visibility, passengers in back seats have more legroom than in the Explorer. Pep seems better than the heavy v6 Explorer. The gas mileage has been upsized from 15-16 MPG for the Explorer to 23-25 with the Element. Im glad I "downsized".

My SC - 2008 Honda Element
By Anthony - September 17 - 9:35 amI work for Honda. i had my choice of any of the models that Honda has. I chose the element for many reason. Looks, style, diverse interior, upscale interior are just a few. I can honestly say that after 6 months I am still as happy as i was the day i bought it.

Better than a bimmer - 2003 Honda Element
By Ray dogs - September 15 - 2:00 amI cant believe how much I love this car! It has to be the most I have ever received for my money. I have had BMWs, Ford Explorers, they dont even come close to the Element. The interior room is monsterous. It corners like it is on rails. Everytime I get out of it I just stare at it and it brings a smile to my face. I am 29 and it is so fun to drive.

dangerous obstruction - 2004 Honda Element
By amylou - September 9 - 3:10 pmI have enjoyed my Honda Element. Ease of cleaning is top of the list. The primary complaint I have is that there is a profound obstruction in the view of oncoming traffic due to the vertical supports on the sides of the front windshield. I have had more than two very near miss T-bones because I absolutely didnt see oncoming cars and pulled out in front of them. After I realized the problem I compensate for that now, but this is a serious safety issue.

Love This Thing! - 2004 Honda Element
By kminimax - September 8 - 9:42 pmWe just purchased this vehicle as our primary vehicle. We love it. My husband is 63" and has more than adequate room for him and our growing son without kicking the backs of the seats anymore. Now neither of them are eating their knees anymore like in our old sedan. I certainly would like to buy another one!
