This Year's Model Updates:

The 2004 Honda Element lineup gets an LX model to slot between the existing DX and EX models. New equipment on EX models includes keyless entry, a passenger-seat armrest as standard, and bungee-cord fasteners on the driver-side front and rear seat backs.

Pros:
  • Impressively versatile interior, optional all-wheel drive, smooth four-cylinder engine, styled as if out of a Japanese animation movie.
Cons:
  • Only seats four, clamshell doors hinder entry/exit for rear-seat passengers.

  • Element Safety - 2004 Honda Element

I bought my Element as soon as it was introduced last Summer, and have never regretted it. Resently another motorist pulled out in front of me and total my car. The Element took it like a tank. The enginered unibody frame and engine did just what it was suppost to do. I walked away with barely a scratch. My next car will once again be an Element. Its the most versatile SUV out there. Ive camped in it, taken it to the beach and painted watercolors from the tailgate, hulled 2x4s, plywood, furniture, a clothes dryer and taken my 2 dogs hiking. Its been a great car.

  • The Little Engine That Could - 2004 Honda Element

I was a Honda Prelude driver nearly eight years before purchasing my new Element. No one had to sell me on Honda quality, but I never realized what a difference a little "styling" would make. For one thing, I dont ever speed any more. Now I obey all the traffic signals, indeed, I have never been a more courteous driver. Ill never go back to my former self, rushing around, slamming into corners, drifting the eases. Rather, I like who I have become and its all because of my funny little car that reminds me of a childrens book I once read. Im over 65, so it was time for me to slow down anyway. I agree, but a lot of other seniors must feel the same way.

Theres NOTHING like it on the road and people are constantly asking to check out the interior. Complete strangers will say they were initially turned off by the xterior but then love it so much, many state theyll be buying one as soon as they can find their way to a Honda dealer.

  • Very Functional Vehicle - 2004 Honda Element

We have only had the vehicle for 3 weeks, but we have already taken a trip with it and put on about 2,000 miles. The vehicle has surprisingly good pep, and the sound system is well above average. It rides well, has plenty of leg room (my 68" brother in law had room to spare in the backseat), low road noise and most of all, it is very functional. I have only two criticisms; first, I only averaged about 24.7 miles/gallon on interstate (which was a little disappointing). Second, when you fold up the rear seats for storage (which is really nice feature), you have greatly reduced visibility and are forced to use mirrors almost exclusively (I dont think Honda can help that though).

  • Great Protection in collison - 2004 Honda Element

There is good and bad about this vehicle. The bad being those great plastic floors( that I normally love) become very slick if cleaned with Armoral ( my local carwash armoralled the whole inside) My purse slid underneath the break pedal and I was unable to stop when nessecary. The good this is I didnt substain any injuries form colliding with a large truck at 45 miles an hour. Airbags deployed like expected and the vehicle absorbed all of the force that passengers would normally get.

  • Incredably Versitile Vehicle - 2004 Honda Element

Most people think theyre ugly, but I think the styling is refreshing. Too many cars (and SUVs) look exactly the same. Its fun to drive, and has a ridiculous amount of cargo space for a vehicle its size. You get a lot of the perks of the giant suburban-assault SUVs without the enormous gas bill.

  • Best all around car - 2004 Honda Element

This car performs better than expected from onlookers. The theater style seating makes the ride enjoyable for everyone and it drives just like a car. Not bad on gas either. At 1.65 about 20 bucks will fill it.

When I first saw this car, I initially hated its appearance. My husband was in love with it from the moment it came out, though. So, when I decided to trade in my old Honda Accord and get an SUV, he convinced me to try it. When I first saw the inside of this car, I fell in love with it. I chose the orange color EX model, and I am getting used to all of the attention I get with it. Other Element owners wave at me on the road, and other people usually stop to ask me how I like it. I love it, thats all I have to say.

I was surprised by the overall practicallity of this vehicle. Everything in the car has its place and purpose, from the numerous cup holders between the driver and passenger seats to the back seats being slightly higher than the front.
