Overview & Reviews
Sold from 2003-'11, the Honda Element compact crossover SUV remains one of the most distinctive and practical vehicles on the road. Happy Element owners are often city dwellers who appreciate both its small size and generous 75-cubic-foot maximum cargo capacity. Another notable element about the Element is the ability of its access-style rear doors to pivot backward a full 90 degrees, providing unimpeded access to the roomy and creatively configurable rear seats.
A used Element of any vintage is easy to recommend thanks to its functional interior, smooth four-cylinder engine and carlike handling, not to mention Honda's reputation for reliability. That said, it's worthwhile to focus your search on 2007 and newer models, as they offer a bit more power and enhanced safety features.

BROOKLYN ELEMENT - 2004 Honda Element
By CLIFF ZEMAN - December 23 - 3:14 pmLIKE THE EASE OF GETTING IN AND OUT. LOADS OF LEG ROOM IN THE REAR. LOVE THE RADIO AND CD SYSTEM. ONLY PROBLEM SO FAR IS THAT IT SEEMS IM ALWAYS GASING THE GUY UP. SOME TIME TWICES A WEEK FOR DRIVING AROUND IN NEW YORK CITY. I USE THE CAR TO GET TO AND FROM FROM DIFFERENT WORK SITES. MAYBE A LARGER GAS TANK NEXT TIME.

Never again - 2003 Honda Element
By andy - December 20 - 7:20 pmAt first my wife and I loved this vehicle, then the problems started, tires are worn out and theres barely 12k on the car. It is very difficult to get the rear seats out without scratching your tailgate. The vehicle shifts very clumsily and the power is less than adequate. One the plus side the gas mileage is very good and the visibility excellent once you get used to the A-pillar in the front. All in all though we are considering getting rid of the car because of the issues that have arisen in one year.

storage - 2003 Honda Element
By Porterhill - August 9 - 2:00 amOne would think a SUV would have storage. Not! Space for storage is non-existent. There is space under the body alongside the spare and under the passenger side that Honda could have used but didnt. Where does one store tire chains or a first aid kit or for that matter a 6-pak without it sliding around. They could have made a larger glove box, as there is wasted space there as well. It might have been nice if Honda had not placed devices under the front passenger seat so one could slip long items under (like the mast to my wind surfer). I wind surf and mountain bike and can carry all toys inside. Most often I use the roof rack for the board.

So funky its cute, like a lil o turtle - 2003 Honda Element
By Little turtle - July 31 - 2:00 amI purchased my Element about a month ago, I had to have it. Its been great so far other then the mileage which everone is complainig about. I think the design is fantastic, funky, orginal, FUNCTIONAL, and just down right cool. Its like a modern day Woody. It drives much better then I imagined, more like a car then an SUV/truck. The pick up/power is great especially for an in-line four. I get lots of attention in it, mostly positive. In summary this vehicle is the most refreshing and original thing out there right now. Great job Honda, other auto designers have a thing or two to learn from you.
