This Year's Model Updates:

The 2004 Honda Element lineup gets an LX model to slot between the existing DX and EX models. New equipment on EX models includes keyless entry, a passenger-seat armrest as standard, and bungee-cord fasteners on the driver-side front and rear seat backs.

Pros:
  • Impressively versatile interior, optional all-wheel drive, smooth four-cylinder engine, styled as if out of a Japanese animation movie.
Cons:
  • Only seats four, clamshell doors hinder entry/exit for rear-seat passengers.

  • Best value/gas economy of AWD - 2004 Honda Element

Looking for an AWD to handle any road/weather, but cant stand typical SUV mileage? Nothing beats the Element for this, and living with it offers continued pleasant surprises. 5sp Manual offers incredible torque and merging power, but the chasis still wins the show. Suicide doors and clamshell tailgate hatch with flat floor back and "hangable"/removable seats makes this the hauling vehicle. Still it seats four comfortably in style. The jeep-like stubby looks adds to my appeal of it and the ease of keeping clean is another bonus. Best for price, performance and features (AWD, anti-lock, side airbags, 24/28mpg. Plus its Honda quality & made in USA.

I wanted to buy a versatile vehicle like the CRV but instead drove out of the dealership with an Element. This is a very poorly thought out vehicle. Example, when you fold up the rear seats to make more room it actually blocks your side window access when you are backing up.This vehicle weighs almost 3,500 lbs and the standard "Accord" powerplant strains to pull it around. My AWD gas mileage city/hwy average 21-22 per gallon. The weight distribution of the "AWD" v.s. the "2 wheel" drive is noticeably different and the vehicles drive differently( I have driven both versions).

Provides excellent interior room for storage and passengers. The variety of seating choices comes in handy when moving bulky items. The large back and side entry allows for easy loading and unloading of cargo, especially large and bulky items. It is very reliable with only regularly scheduled maintenance being performed. For the price, it is an exceptional value and puts higher priced SUVs to shame.

  • Great Car - 2004 Honda Element

Extremely good car for anyone. People on the street are always pointing at the car and admiring it. The inside is incredible. There is so much room in it. In fact, there is more room on the inside than in any other SUV Ive ever been in.

I love the appearance of my car. What a wonderful experience to love to drive it as well. It is fun and responsive and I get lots of comments about it- good and bad. People seem to either love it or hate it.

This vehicle is exactly what the doctor ordered. I can tow my motorcycles, get it muddy, go snowboarding and not have to worry

  • Element makes sense - 2004 Honda Element

Element is the only suv thats large enough to fall under the competitors size, with out the high price tag. It is only 200 lbs heavier than the crv and yet delivers great gas mileage for its mass. It doesnt make sense to pay high dollars for a vehicle that gives bad gas mileage and is not as acomodating as the element. This suv was built for me and I have been waiting all of my life for it. My wife and i will never drive anything less again and hope to purchase an advance model in the future.

  • BEST HONDA EVER - 2004 Honda Element

I was in the market for a new vehicle. I knew I didn’t want a car. I felt safer driving an SUV but wasn’t sure if I could afford one. I test drove the Element and fell in love with it! Not only did I feel safe driving it, but I absolutely loved the way it looked inside and out. I have had it for about 6 months now. It is EXCELLENT on gas, FANTASTIC in bad weather and snow and I can honestly say that I have never in my life have received more compliments on anything I have even owned! To this day I am still amazed on how much room this vehicle has inside. This is the best purchase I have ever made!

  • Slightly dissapointed in Honda - 2004 Honda Element

Instrument panel Gauges have black background and are deeply recessed and extremely hard to read in daytime. Seats are too firm and not very comfortable. Even though I have the EX model, there is no button on front passenger door to lock or unlock both front doors. Also, the door lock button (master) on drivers door has a real cheap plastic feel to it. Rear seat entry/exit is difficult. Rear seats are very heavy and awkward to remove or fold up. When folded, the upstruct rear quarter view. Love the looks of vehicle, and it is fun to drive. No problems so far.

  • What a cool car! - 2004 Honda Element

We bought this vehicle slightly used as a third car and a future vehicle for our fifteen-year old boy. We LOVE it! My husband and I fight over who gets to drive it. It is a very FUN, functional, spacious car. We feel very modern driving it. Lots of car for the money. Buy one!!! Totally underrated by the professional reviewers.
