Model Overview:

Sold from 2003-'11, the Honda Element compact crossover SUV remains one of the most distinctive and practical vehicles on the road. Happy Element owners are often city dwellers who appreciate both its small size and generous 75-cubic-foot maximum cargo capacity. Another notable element about the Element is the ability of its access-style rear doors to pivot backward a full 90 degrees, providing unimpeded access to the roomy and creatively configurable rear seats.

A used Element of any vintage is easy to recommend thanks to its functional interior, smooth four-cylinder engine and carlike handling, not to mention Honda's reputation for reliability. That said, it's worthwhile to focus your search on 2007 and newer models, as they offer a bit more power and enhanced safety features.

The Element is fun to drive and has a lot of excellent features for a cheaper car. Its not quite a real SUV but its not quite a car either but it has many of the best and qualities of both. You would be hard pressed to find a car in this price range that has its cargo space, utility, and built in features. Plus it has a lot more character than the CR-V, a Civic, or a Caravan. This wagon is great if youre looking for a versatile vehicle but understand that for this price it wont have everything: as a car it has mediocre gas mileage (but if youre used to driving a bigger SUV - then you will probably love the gas mileage), and a somewhat rough ride.

This is one of the best vehicles I have ever owned. It has great features and I feel like in driving a SUV twice the price. My only complaint is that you feel the ride on rough surfaces. I really enjoy driving again.

I purchased my Element on Dec. 19, 2003. I became the first to take delivery and put one on eht eroad in Lexington, KY on Jan. 20, 2003. I have put almost 5,000 miles on my Element since then.My wife and I have moved, taken a road trip to Florida, and made many trips around the state! The gas mileage has been excellent (about 20 around town and 24 on the highway), the hauling capacity is enormous (especially with the seats folded up) and I love the looks I get in it. THe four weel drive is incredible when you need it! In all, Honda has done a great job creating one of the mopst versatile and best built vehicles available.

It is like this car was designed just for me. I love it. It drives like and feels like a car but with the room of a van. Its stain resistant seats, and easy clean floors make this the perfect car for slobs like me. My job requires me to haul around lumber to a sofa all which fit perfectly into this car.

This car is awesome, although I consider it my mini truck...it is great on gas..took me a while to get use to the seats though, it is roomy, my passengers love the sunroof on the back of the car gives them something to do while on long trips...have many heads turning while cruising down the highway.

  • Great car/SUV! - 2003 Honda Element

Owned for six months. Continues to get great mileage in all conditions, approx 24 mpg. Awesome in CO winter conditions with great handling and traction in poor weather conditions (snow/ice). Glad I bought it and still having lots of fun exploring all the different ways to utilize its features, thanks Honda!

I was intent on purchasing a RAV4 or a CR-V, but the Element caught my eye. When I drove it, that was it. This thing is fun to drive and has plenty of go for a 4 cyl.(Its easy to peel-out at a stop light... too easy). The interior has lots of room and its not cluttered with gadgets. Hauling capacity is great. By-the-way, Im not in the age group Honda targeted and Ive not seen an Element owner yet under 40.
