Model Overview:

Sold from 2003-'11, the Honda Element compact crossover SUV remains one of the most distinctive and practical vehicles on the road. Happy Element owners are often city dwellers who appreciate both its small size and generous 75-cubic-foot maximum cargo capacity. Another notable element about the Element is the ability of its access-style rear doors to pivot backward a full 90 degrees, providing unimpeded access to the roomy and creatively configurable rear seats.

A used Element of any vintage is easy to recommend thanks to its functional interior, smooth four-cylinder engine and carlike handling, not to mention Honda's reputation for reliability. That said, it's worthwhile to focus your search on 2007 and newer models, as they offer a bit more power and enhanced safety features.

I bought it against all my friends advice based on its looks. Now, 2 of the most vocal friends are going to buy one. I live in Minnesota and the Element AWD tracks on slippery roads beautifully! I have had 4WD cars and trucks for a long time and this one beats them all. I have a white German Shepherd Dog, who sheds on everything, and cleaning the Element is so easy with no hair getting permanently stuck on any fabics, and of course, flooring. I climbs sandy hills, muddy slopes, and is really fun to drive on dry pavement. I am so happy I bought it. I get more impressed with it all the time.

Great truck! This little box has a TON of room, i have hauled 2 apartments and all sorts of stuff for a new house. My friends that made fun of my future purchase all enjoy the comforts of our travels!!! The things that are not so good. Speeding equals horrible gas mileage (260 a tank nearing 4000 miles driven). I hope I could squeeze 300 from a tank if I drove 55-60 or the car breaks in more and starts getting better mileage (not near the posted city or highways ratings). The wind sheer is almost scary. The little box gets pushed around pretty easily from winds. Square plus winds equals not aerodynamic. I regret nothing! I LOVE this vehicle!!!

When I first saw this car, i did a lot of shopping....wasnt sure if i wanted a new car (or its pricing).....but once i drove it, i was sold...pretty quick engine for a 4 cyl. honda...5 speed gives it some quirkiness....excellent stereo!!!!...this car is supposed to fit my age group, but how can "college kids" afford it???...granted, i work full time, but i think wrong audience...regardless, i love the looks, and give about 5 tours a day.....ps...if you want the orange, dont talk yourself out of it...i wish i would have...

I love this car. It has orignal ideas, great visiabilty, good fuel mileage, and is very easy to get in to and out of. I would have put lights in the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel. The price of the add on options like side steps and mud guards and other items is way too high. Also I would make the sun roof in the back a slide back not a lift out so it could be used while driving

  • Ugliest Car in the World? - 2004 Honda Element

I thought it was until we went to Italy and I saw some of the Fiat vans over there. We love our Element. We put 200k miles on a 1987 Real Time Wagon and thats why we bought Honda again. Were still driving the wagon to keep the local round-town miles off the Element. Element has entirely adequate power, tons of interior room if somewhat excessive headroom. Handles OK, rear seating is comfortable, but visibilty is limited from back there. Whats with the sunroof in the back where you NEVER use it? Should have made seating for 3 in the back. Theres room.

We bought our Element in September and LOVE it. My 2.5 yr old thinks it is the best thing ever!!! It is fun, functional (can we bold and underline this one) and reliable! Oh Yeah, No more little feet kicking the back of my seat! The back seat area is so large I can even get in the back to buckle my daughter in the seat without having to stand in the rain or snow! Now that is what I call functional! Lots of leg room and not to mention head room. The location of the sun roof will definitely keep the folks in the back seat busy star gazing! We cant be happier with this purchase! Hooray for Honda! A true cross between a traditional SUV and Minivan.
