Model Overview:

Sold from 2003-'11, the Honda Element compact crossover SUV remains one of the most distinctive and practical vehicles on the road. Happy Element owners are often city dwellers who appreciate both its small size and generous 75-cubic-foot maximum cargo capacity. Another notable element about the Element is the ability of its access-style rear doors to pivot backward a full 90 degrees, providing unimpeded access to the roomy and creatively configurable rear seats.

A used Element of any vintage is easy to recommend thanks to its functional interior, smooth four-cylinder engine and carlike handling, not to mention Honda's reputation for reliability. That said, it's worthwhile to focus your search on 2007 and newer models, as they offer a bit more power and enhanced safety features.

I absolutely love my Element. It is fun to drive and is so cool on the inside. Ive taken the back seats out at times and threw a couple of bean bag chairs in the back and went to the lake. I opened the back up and sat in my bean bag facing the water. Its so versitale and easy to clean when it gets dirty. After I bought mine and let my 70 year old mother drive it, she decided to buy her one!!

Bought it last week. Love it. Paid 19.0k including destination charge. Was told that was 500 over invoice. Accessories are a rip-off, but the car is awesome. Great ride. Surprisingly good handling. If you buy a DX, you can have a sunroof installed. The car is mismarketed. Should be targeted at people like me, young professional couples with little families on a budget.

  • a great car - the plus & minus of it - 2004 Honda Element

Overall a great car.We own an 01 Accord and love it.Our family has owned many models and years with very little negative to say about Honda. The Element continues in this tradition. The combination of economy and utility is a great aspect of this car.The back seats cant be fully reclined to latch up inside unless the head rest is removed. This appears to be an oversight since the owners manual and website make no mention of removing head rest. The moonroof needs improvements- with the glass in- it opens a paltry 3-4 inches. When you remove the glass, the optional screen that I purchased isnt supposed to be used when the car is in motion.A power roof like we have on our accord would be great.

  • Looks arent everything - 2005 Honda Element

Remeber that girl from high school that everybody liked but didnt want to be seen with? Well the car version of her is the Element. Got one of the review in Car and Driver 04 and simply love it. C & D said it was the most useful car they had in their long term fleet and I cant find fault in their opinion. Hauls the family, dog, bikes and assorted gear like an favorite backpack. With the 5 speed the car is much more fun to drive than the auto 4. Steering is percise and the braking good. Fuel economy could be better but lets face it, the thing has the profile of a cinder block.

  • The Ultimate Element - 2004 Honda Element

Excellent performance, dependibility, excellent gas milage, smooth ride, excellent stiring, really big inside, excellent flooring, washable seats, I traded a Mercedes E300 for this SUV and I am very happy. I think this is the best SUV around. Rides just as good as the Mercedes ML300. Thank you Honda for making such a wonderful product.

  • So Much Fun & RELIABLE - 2003 Honda Element

The manual is so effortless and produces more power than you would think from the four banger. The interior is great even for a 63" driver-- and for even taller guys in the back. The cars build quality is impeccable-- you can really tell when you go over railroad tracks and you dont feel the rattles or such like other SUVs. Hats off to Honda.

  • Great car looking for a few improvements - 2003 Honda Element

Very happy with our purchase. Fun to drive with ample power for most people. Averaging 21.5 MPG on mixed driving. We love the "ugly" factor.

  • I am in my Element with this vehicle. - 2003 Honda Element

The Element is fun and easy to drive. The only draw back is the visibility out the rear side windows seems obstructed. I love the vehicle and it suits my dogs, me, and my lifestyle.
