Overview & Reviews
Sold from 2003-'11, the Honda Element compact crossover SUV remains one of the most distinctive and practical vehicles on the road. Happy Element owners are often city dwellers who appreciate both its small size and generous 75-cubic-foot maximum cargo capacity. Another notable element about the Element is the ability of its access-style rear doors to pivot backward a full 90 degrees, providing unimpeded access to the roomy and creatively configurable rear seats.
A used Element of any vintage is easy to recommend thanks to its functional interior, smooth four-cylinder engine and carlike handling, not to mention Honda's reputation for reliability. That said, it's worthwhile to focus your search on 2007 and newer models, as they offer a bit more power and enhanced safety features.

GREAT ALL AROUND VEHICLE - 2004 Honda Element
By MAGNA66 - February 11 - 10:00 amFUN TO DRIVE, IT FEELS LIKE A MINI- HUMMER. VERY QUIET ENGINE AND PLENTY OF GO POWER. A VERSATILE SUV WITH PLENTY OF STORAGE AND COFFEE CUP HOLDERS. GET IT DIRY...JUST HOSE THE INSIDE DOWN...WATERPROOF. USES REGULAR UNLEADED GAS.

The Element is the way to go - 2004 Honda Element
By colospgs58 - February 7 - 10:00 amWe use our Element for everything from transporting kids to college to a camper - and itdoes it all! It rides well, handles beautifully, can carry huge volumes of carge, and can be switched from passenger vehicle to cargo van or camper in a matter of seconds. After having the Element for a year, we dont even use our other SUV - we dont need it.

She Loves it so do I - 2005 Honda Element
By Mike - February 7 - 8:30 amWe have been shopping for about two months. What we liked about the Element was ease of entry, no stain easy clean interior and the versatility of the interior. I have not seen my wife this happy ( about a vehicle ) in a good while. I consider myself a professional car buyer. I have purchased three vehicles this year and sold all three at a tidy profit. I have an idea this Element is a keeper. It has a little more road noise than I like, but the powertrain is very smooth, peppy and quiet, controls are easy to use and the vehicle is fun to drive . The visibility is good and it handles windy days with no adverse surprises. The cruise is as smooth as the powertrain...great vehicle...

just right SUV - 2003 Honda Element
By Michael K Hagan - February 3 - 2:00 amSo far so good. I have owned my green Element EX 4 wheel drive automatic for two weeks, and am very pleased. My other car is a Mustang GT convertible. The Element is not underpowered (for my uses, mostly intown commuting and hauling stuff), as some reviewers [including Edmunds.com] had suggested. Everything inside seems spacious and sensibly designed. I looked at SUVs and cross-overs, and this Element suited my needs best; not too formal or faux luxurious and not cheap looking either. I am really taken with the design.

It is a Honda! - 2003 Honda Element
By icaliber - February 3 - 2:00 amWhat a car, no it is a truck, no it is a suv. It is all. It is a great little all around utility machine that we use to go to point A and back.

Manual isnt for everyone - 2003 Honda Element
By gertgert - February 3 - 2:00 amIm 5 and I constantly knock my knee on the steering column. Its the type of hit that jolts and stuns you for a second. I also think they need to make the passenger foot area taller. There isnt enough height to comfortably cross your feet on the passanger front unless you scoot the seat way back.

Accessories for a great car - 2003 Honda Element
By pancho-villa - January 17 - 10:00 amSome reviewers have commented on high price of element accessories, like the guy who paid $615 for a hitch. Try this: my local dealer will meet the prices at www.cheaphondaparts.com and the sales tax (6%) is less than the shipping from SF. The part packaging includes complete instructions. You will find, since these are "dealer installed" that the installation is simple. I installed the remote entry receiver in less than 5 min. My local U-Haul dealer quoted $131 for a 1500# hitch installed plus $18 for the wiring harness. Bets $615 for something Honda doesnt manufacture anyway.

Element - 2003 Honda Element
By cardr - December 23 - 2:00 amI thought it was really ugly at first. But after I looked inside then drove it, I just had to have it. So far so good! My Element is even better than I thought! The salesperson at the dealership was really professional. Theres just so much to say about this car!

Function before Form - 2005 Honda Element
By Rick Vera - December 20 - 8:36 amIts fun to drive and has exceptionally better performance than other small, car-based SUV thanks to Hondas slick stick and ever slicker i-VTEC engine that revs with ease thanks to its twin balance shafts to cut engine vibrations. You wont find a car anywhere near this price range or class that has this much interior room too. One suggestion though, find an aftermarket stainless steel grill as I did to cover the front and especially the lower grille. If ya dont, youll have a really dented up radiator since its way too exposed. Want something different, this is it! Want to beat your neighbors VUE, Escape, Equinox, or RAV4 in a little race or a who-can- hold-more contest, this is it too!
